After that incident, the rest of the meeting went incredibly smoothly, with not a single noble daring to raise questions, simply reporting everything before becoming as silent as lambs in a butcher's shop.
Once all the nobles left, and the newly appointed guards closed the doors and left the throne room, Ken sighed as he slumped back into his chair.
"You did not need to be so hard on them." He said to the air in front, but it was clearly directed at SPU standing behind and to the side of the throne.
"It was a necessity."
"Was this an order from the lord?"
"No. This has nothing to do directly with the religion. It had more to do with the kingdom, and its future. Although my lord's system has incredible benefits and skills, it still cannot give things like eternal life… at least for the time being."
"What did you say?" Ken questioned while turning around, since the last bit of SPU's words were mumbled away into something that even an ant sitting on his shoulder would not be able to hear.
"My Lord cannot give such benefits. This means, that one day, you are bound to perish, and your children will inherit the throne."
"Ah…" Ken immediately understood the underlying meaning behind those words.
In just a few more years, his children would be of age, and officially step into the politics of the kingdom. In such a case, revolts in the name of a prince who is not directly the crowned prince would be commonly created by the nobles that supported said prince, and those with malicious intent towards the kingdom and church.
In order to prevent something like this from happening even after his own passing, he needed to make sure that the royal family had a firm grasp on the nobles of the nations, and also be able to control any other variables that might appear.
For such a possibility to come to fruition, a kind heart is not the most important factor, nor is the satisfaction of the nobles. The most important factor was having the power and strength to hold onto your position and snuff out any problems that arise, both internal and external.
"King Ken, I will be taking my leave then. It appears that we must not only take over the land of the deceased noble, just like the land of all the previously killed nobles and add them to the royal family's grounds, but I must also take care of a certain issue myself."
"Sure" Ken waved his hand, and SPU vanished from his position.
Once SPU was gone, Ken sighed once more and stood up slowly. Although he was the king, he in fact was only a puppet ruler, who was essentially 'put in charge of internal affairs'.
Since he, as well as all the nobles were already stripped of all the meagre amount of soldiers they possessed, they could not even form a fighting force themselves, and had to leave all military matters to the church.
In fact, almost everything was in the church's control since almost 92% of the population of Cayden had already become followers. And with the benefits that doing this gave, no one would not be incentivised to do so unless instigated by external forces.
Such a matter was incredibly serious and therefore SPU had personally gone to investigate.
On the other hand, Ken was left with so little to do, other than using the system given to him to increase the prosperity of the kingdom slowly, and the monthly meetings, he actually had nothing much to do.
Therefore, he simply went to play with his children, just like every other day, spending his time with his family, just like he had promised to his wife.
"To think her wish would come true in such a way" He sighed one last time as he walked into the corridors of the newly built palace, heading to the grounds where his two sons were.
