Chapter 32 - The Loss Of The Creature (Lezlie)

Hiroshi and I were trying to stop the creature somehow. We had everything ready and we were waiting for the monster to come and find us. Hiroshi first suggested blowing up the road ahead with the gunpowder he had, but that was too dangerous for us and the mine. So Hiroshi came up with the idea of the chain.

He had another plan in mind, and my role was to hold the creature off briefly while he set up the chain. I trusted his plan, and we waited in silence for the creature to arrive.

I hid behind a big rock, and Hiroshi positioned himself behind two rocks nearby. We could hear the creature growling as it approached. When it reached the dead-end, Hiroshi signaled to me, and I prepared to use my spell.

But when I tried to use my magic, it failed. The creature snarled and began to move towards me, causing me to freeze in fear. For a moment I was just still. Hiroshi acted immediately and saved me from the attack by grabbing the creature's attacking mouth so that I could escape. Even though he was a normal human being, he somehow managed to stop the monster. I didn't want to leave him behind, but I knew I had to get out of there.

As I ran, I spotted a pickaxe lying on the ground and picked it up. At first, I wanted to escape, but I didn't want to leave Hiroshi alone. So I hit the creature's feet with the pickaxe to draw its attention to me. Just then, Hiroshi threw a lit stick of dynamite into the creature's mouth, causing it to explode. He yelled at me to follow him as he ran away.

"Lezlie, hurry up and follow me."

Although the dynamite exploded in the creature's mouth, it didn't suffer much damage. Instead, it became much angrier. We ran away as fast as we could, but it was quickly catching up to us. Hiroshi pushed me towards a narrow hole. The creature tried to bite me, but its head was too large to fit.

I was horrified, but then we heard a whistle. The creature followed the sound and left me behind. I knew it was Hiroshi trying to draw its attention away from me.

Hiroshi was in danger again and I had to act fast. When I came out of the hole, I searched my surroundings and found a wooden safe. Inside, it was full of dynamite. An idea formed in my mind.

But I needed Hiroshi's help. After I got the safe out of the jam, I moved quietly and looked around for any sign of Hiroshi or the creature. I searched for a while until I saw Hiroshi running towards me.

"You must return to the pit," he said. "It's dangerous here; the creature could be back any minute."

"Hiroshi," I replied, "Listen, I know I caused trouble at first, but I have a plan to stop the creature and I need you to trust me."

"It depends on what's on your mind," he said.

I showed him the safe full of dynamite and said, "If we use these, maybe we can neutralize the monster."

"So you have a risky plan, better than no plan at all." he agreed.

Hiroshi tied the chains he didn't use to me and placed the box of dynamite behind me. After setting up the dynamite, he hid behind some stones and fired his gun once to attract the creature's attention. It soon arrived, drawn by the sound.

The monster was furious after chasing us for so long. The creature wanted to finish the job as much as we did.

I was afraid but waited patiently. The creature charged at me like a maniac, its mouth wide open. Just as it was about to bite me, Hiroshi pulled the chain and the creature swallowed a full case of dynamite instead. Time seemed to slow down as I saw Hiroshi's cigar wedged between the sticks of dynamite. The cigar's fire was about to make contact with the dynamite.

Suddenly, the dynamites exploded in the creature's stomach. There was so much dynamite that the creature couldn't handle it. After the explosion, it fell to the ground, defeated. Hiroshi approached me and asked, "Hey, are you alright?"

"I'm fine, thank you," I replied.

"You did a good job," he said. "Congratulations."

It was nice to have Hiroshi congratulate me, even though what we did wasn't very difficult. And I never expected my plan to work, but in the end, we worked together and we succeeded.
