After the announcement for the victory of Soren's team, Heiran, who was currently looking at Soren's first round, couldn't help but comment with a slightly disappointed expression:
"And here I thought that final attack would bring the other "him" out. Well, as long as the medics are quick, it shouldn't be a problem, even if his limbs get detached, but I can't say he'll be able to join for the second round."
After he said that, he got up from his seat and grabbed a dark red book with the title "Experimental log 3: Conditions and subjects." from a nearby bookcase and opened it on a specific page and read as such:
"Factors for creating the Soul of Wrath:
1. A pure, sinless vessel, untainted by other sins.
2. Extreme amounts of physical or mental trauma.
3. A motive for allow for the changes to happen subconsciously*
* "Motives may vary from protection to vengeance and provide different results. More experiments needed to create consistent results."
Additional notes:
Attempting to perform this on people, whose bodies have already been tainted by anger, hatred and wrath, may cause system overloads on the bodies, causing damage of varying degrees on multiple body systems.
Successful Subjects:
A: Name: Karine Vertial, Gender: F, Age: 21, Status: Perished
Condition: Perished at the age of 24 on a battle in the deserts of ***** after receiving 39 bullets wounds on multiple vital organs. The subject's mental condition was unstable for 3 years, after successfully awakening the Soul of Wrath, causing her to develop slowly develop PTSD, schizophrenia, hallucinations and violent mood swings, resulting in her behavior becoming extremely unpredictable and mood swing prone. The results were less than satisfying and more experiments are needed to avoid developing metal conditions.
B: Name: Baltier Adamium, Gender: M, Age: 33, Status: Perished
Condition: Perished exactly 34 days after the successful awakening of the Soul of Wrath. Committed suicide in his cell, exactly 2 days after murdering the CEO of ******* ************* and his family. More tests need to be performed for the subjects to avoid developing more violent and suicidal behaviors."
After he started going through a dozen or so pages, he quickly stopped at another page that read as such:
W: Name: Lambert Bashions, Gender: M, Age: 22, Status: Alive
Condition: Currently alive at the age of 25. The subject had developed hallucinations and delusions over the past couple of years, after mercilessly crushing one of its business rivals, but has received medical help from various hospitals and doctors, allowing him to live a normalized life. Can't add more though, since the time is also up.
X: Name: Soren Vertiand, Gender: M, Age: 12, Status: Alive/Perished
Condition: Has developed apathy for fellow humans and his emotions have died down over the past couple of years, ever since that incident, but has developed extreme obsessions towards marine life, specifically towards predatory species. No other signs of the Soul of Wrath, ever since its awakening. Subject is suspect to have awakened at the time, but it's impossible to conclude more test currently. More info to be added, in case of any last minute changes.
Additional info: Subject has probably perished at some point, presumably by an unlucky car accident or something similar of the sorts. Subject's emotional state has been mysteriously returned to normal and has formed invisible ties towards a young leviathan. It is currently unknown those changes might cause to the subject, but it has allowed the re-awakening of the Soul of Wrath, albeit with a much softer personality. More field observations may be needed from hidden agents and no disruptions from unknown factors will be allowed from third parties."
After reading that, he turned to the next page:
"Observation Notes on Subject X:
Day 1-7: The subject has stayed mostly holed up in his room for recuperation from its battle against 15 and 16. His current emotional condition is unknown, even through our agents.
Day 8-14: The subject has started taking place in the military training sessions. The subject's emotional state seems to be normal, without any changes to psyche.
Day 15-28: The subject is struggling with the army's training regime and is barely able to keep up. No changes are apparent on his emotional state as of yet.
Day 29-56: The subject is currently able to keep up with the training regime and had started to enter the daily patrols as well. During his free time, he's tried to make contact with the young leviathan, but our field agents are cutting off all contact with it, to avoid any sudden changes on the subject.
Day 57-119: No major changes have happened from the schedule that the subject is following, aside from performing collection missions for the Adventurer's Guild during his free time. There have been reports that the subject is trying to call to his own Soul of Wrath, either audibly or by performing weird actions. Tomorrow, the methods of observation have to change, since the subject will probably leave the area soon and all of the disruption activities have to cease.. On-field observation may be needed to be performed personally soon."
After reading all that, Heiran closed the book and saw down on his seat, as he watched at the screen projected in front of him. As he did so, he slowly started to tap his finger on his book and kept watching Soren, as the field medics were almost done stitching his legs back together.
"Should I come in person to observe him? I've already done that for the past 4 months through my low-ranking members, but even that has his limits now. I wish I had the ability to just dive into someone's mind and soul and see the changes myself." Heiran complained with a defeated expression, as he kept watching at the screen in front of him and before long, he rose up from his seat once again, turned towards a mirror is the room and muttered with a determined expression:
"If you have to do something, do it yourself. Besides, there's no way Soren would be able to recognize me, especially with my beautiful face that kills even the most cold-blooded beauties of the world."
After making a quick pose, he slowly made his way towards the bookcase he took his book and put it back in its place, then touched a glowing blue orb that was sitting right next to his seat, of which caused the screen of the arena to disappear and then left room, while quickly fixing his hair. As he was leaving, he happened to run into a young man with green hair, black eyes, average features and a sleepy expression on his face.
"Segni, what are you doing here?" Heiran asked with a calm expression, as he was staring down on the young man.
"Haaahhh... Jeez Ira. Can't you-" Before the young man called Segni could finish his answer though, he was suddenly grabbed from the neck and slammed on the wall by Heiran, who had currently a bloodshot expression on his face.
"Fine, fine. Heiran it is, as long as this is enough to take me off the wall." Segni answered with an indifferent expression, as he looked at Heiran expression.
"And...?" Heiran asked as he tightened the grip on his hand with a furious expression.
"And I'm sorry and that you are the greatest man on the world and I'm just a worm under your shoes." Segni answered similarly as before, as he was sighing internally. After his answer, Heiran then let go off Segni and asked with a calmer expression:
"What brings you here? Weren't you supposed to watch your little game of hell?"
"Your tests are always more entertaining, since I get to see a lot of creative ways to draw blood, unlike all the other sad saps in my tests , who are clearly trying too hard to get into my good graces." Segni answered with an uncaring smile on his face and then slowly left Heiran behind.
"Leave from my test you dirty little goblin, before I show you how I make a living beast steak out of you!" Heiran yelled angrily as he watched Segni slowly leave and he left from the hallway as well, but he never heard of Segni's casual remark:
"Crazy bastard, you'll never be able to get far with that attitude of yours."
