As Soren was looking at Rohan's letter, he couldn't help but sigh as he shook his head before reading the second letter:
"So, you have finally managed to wake me up fully, after four years ever since my birth. I'll have to say, I didn't expect you put me into that kind of a jam, but knowing you, I know that you were always a troublemaker, even when you decided to cool down your head and trying not to be so competitive and antagonistic, back when you were in the middle school."
As he read that first paragraph, he couldn't help but frown, as he was feeling a bit mocked.
"Anyways, as much as I would like to have a normal talk with you and explain everything, unfortunately my time is pretty short and I also want to experience the world a bit, before going into hibernation once again. I know that your friend has probably informed you of my existence, but for now though, focus on your current tasks at hand:
Grow stronger, gain trustworthy allies, make connections and see the world and only then, you will be able fight into the big leagues. The things you have gotten yourself into, are much bigger than you may be thinking. Dont expect that you can meet up with me though, since it's not easy to wake me up.
Anyways, take care
=--=-
P.S. You don't need to know my name currently, but you are free to ask your friend, if you want to sate your curiosity."
"Tsk. What's the point of reading these again now? Rohan is coming today either way, so I don't need to bash my head on a steel wall to try and make sense of all of that." Soren casually remarked with an annoyed expression, before putting the letters away and putting his things in his spatial bag.
Before he left the room, he took one last look at the bunk bed as he was remembering his grueling training that he had to go through for the past four months. Once he left his room, he decided to slowly make his way towards the commander's room and as he making his way towards, he happened to see Tobias coming towards his direction.
"Hey, Tobia- Huh?" The moment Soren tried to greet Tobias, he saw that he had a furious expression and couldn't help but ask:
"Uhhh... Did something happen Tobias?"
"Nothing happened." Tobias answered angrily as he didn't stop and then continued getting further away from Soren, before taking a turn towards one of the corridors and disappearing from his sight.
"Something must have happened, otherwise he wouldn't look like a man who had a green hat put on." Soren commented to himself, but he knew that he wouldn't be able to help in this situation, since he could tell from the look in his eyes. He had seen that look before, but just as he was remembering a bit of his past, he suddenly shook his head and thought to himself:
'Come on, it's already all in the past. No need to remember that couple ever again. Just don't think about them.'
After that, he finally reached the Commander's office and knocked on the door.
"Enter." Commander Vandham's voice was heard from the office and the moment Soren entered, he saluted with a serious expression.
"At ease, Private Soren." Vandham raised his hand calmly before signaling him to sit on the chair.
"Yes, sir." Once Soren sat down, Vandham then asked with a serious expression:
"Soren, do you know the reason you have been summoned right now?"
"Uhhh... No sir, I have no idea." Soren answered with a slightly relaxed and confused expression.
"Today's the last day you were going to work with us, so tell me. What did you think of your four months here?"
"Well... It was quite an experience. It was fun because I got to train and talk with people. It was hard because of the training becoming monotonous and grueling. But it is an experience I would happily try to experience again." Soren answered with a serious and happy voice.
"Heh... Glad to hear that you are not a wimp then." Vandham chuckled a bit before continuing:
"Anyways, do you know what my relationship between me and Rohan is like?"
"Uhhh... I guess... Rocky, at best?" Soren answered apprehensively.
"Well, yes and no. See, although the two of us have a bit of a sour history between us, it doesn't mean that I hate him on an existential level. I just can't accept some of the choices he had taken back then." Vandham answered back with a slightly annoyed expression.
"What do you mean?" Soren asked curiously as he tilted his head slightly.
"It's a bit of a complicated story. I'm in no position to say anything without his permission, but I can safely say this: For him, the ends justify the means. You are dismissed now." Once Vandham said that, he slowly rose from his seat and then went pick on a stack of paper sheets.
"Wait, what do you mean?" Soren asked with a confused expression, but he got no answer in the end and since the Commander told him that, he couldn't afford to linger any longer and left the room.
'The ends justify the means...' Those were the words that were stuck in Soren's head, as he was leaving slowly Vandham's office. He wondered for the reason for using such a phrase, but he didn't have enough information to make an guess about it. There was one thing he could confirm from this phrase though and it was the fact that Rohan had probably done something immoral or unacceptable.
Although he wanted more information, he knew that he wouldn't be getting any anytime soon, so in the end, he decided to leave area and meet up with the others. As he was leaving, he tried to look for Tobias and ask him what happened, but he had found no trace of him, ever since he had last seen him.
With no other obligations on hand, Soren was finally able to leave the training grounds. The moment he was out of the grounds though, he was suddenly met with the weirdest sights his had ever laid upon. Two people were standing opposite to each other and had a bow on one hand and keeping their other hand near their quivers, as the two of them were staring each other with killing intent, as well as a big crowd that was silently staring with anticipation of the conclusion.
'What did I get myself into, this time?' Soren thought to himself as he shook his head helplessly. He tried to look around for any of his acquaintances, but to no avail, there was no one nearby. Since there were no acquaintances nearby, he decided to kill a bit of time, by checking this situation.
"Sir, may I ask what is going on?" Soren asked one of the people nearby.
"The Silverwing Hunter and the Lamb Guardian are engaging on a Quickdraw Duel. Although I'm not sure of the reason behind it, I know that these two have been rivals for three years at least.
