"Could you please avoid going into random rooms and randomly shout in them? It causes problems for my colleagues who are either resting or just spending their free time however they want it." The Sea Knight asked kindly Soren as he was making an annoyed expression, while Soren was feeling kind of embarrassed for letting himself loose like that.
"Sorry. I was just so excited that I couldn't hold my urge to scream. I should also say sorry to anyone in that room for the scare that I gave them, if there were any people in there in the first place." Soren answered with a dejected expression as he was scratching his head.
"Still, are you that much of a battle junkie?" The Sea Knight asked with a bit of curiosity as he was looking at Soren.
"Battle junkie?"
"Urgh... They are the kind of people who love fighting, especially against strong opponents and the stronger their opponent is, the more excited they become." The Sea Knight answered with an annoyed expression as he holding his head in annoyance.
"Then I guess I'm glad I'm not that kind of person." Soren answered as he breathed out a sigh of relief. The idea of being a battle junkie wasn't appealing to Soren, even though he still had some questions about that, but he felt like asking wouldn't be a good idea so he decided to end the topic there.
"Before we get to fight though, I want to ask the amount of experience that you have. Like what things do you usually fight against to or how often you fight."
"Hmmm... The things I have fought up until now were mostly monsters. I did have a couple of battles against other people, but I wouldn't call myself experienced in any way. As for how often I have been fighting, I would say that I have started just a bit over 2 weeks ago and now, I'm just taking a break since I spent a whole week outside the city with monsters roaming around all the time around me and that is way more taxing on the head that you might think." Soren explained with a serious expression as he was thinking about his battles. He felt that he had obtained more power through his battles, but he didn't feel like he had become stronger as he was thinking about them.
Throughout his battles, he would always take extremely risky moves, such as taking the brunt of heavy attacks or being the one to pull some really risky moves that would usually let himself open right after. There were times where he had to fight opponents that outmatched him at times, but during most of them, as long as he stayed on the defensive and waited for a good opportunity, he would either get the kill, or Lavenza would throw the killing shot to end the enemy's life, but during Torque's battle, he saw that being on the defensive would just put him at a complete disadvantage and would also allow the enemy to control the flow of the battle. Hence the reason about his loud cheer was the opportunity to fight different opponents that would allow him to learn more stuff during battle.
After 5 or so minutes later, the three of them made it to the training grounds and just as the Sea Knight was about to open his mouth, a loud noise was heard and that was immediately followed by a loud man's scream of pain.
"My win." Another male voice was heard after the man's scream.
"Alright guys, Hiro won this round, who wants to... Hehehe... Would you look at that? Our boy Tobias has decided to make an appearance off-duty for once." A tall burly man was speaking with a serious tone before having a happy tone on his voice as he faced the three of them. The man himself had dark skin, black hair and tail and brown eyes. By far, that was the closest resemblance to normal hair and eye color to Earth's usual characteristic colors, but the fish tail always reminded Soren that this was another world.
"Argentus, haven't you started your shift yet?" Tobias asked with an unsatisfied expression as he was crossing his arms.
"My shift is after the shift that is after yours, so I have a quite a lot of time to kill after training and so does everyone else around us, so we were killing time with a few one on ones. Do you want to join us?" Argentus explained with a serious and slightly annoyed expression as he was looking down on Tobias. Soren thought that he had heard that name before, but decided to dismiss the thought, since he felt slightly pressured by the Argentus' presence as it was boring down Tobias and was looking down at him.
"Uhhh... We just c-came for a friendly one on one between the t-two of us." Soren answered in place of Tobias nervously as he was feeling the pressure from the man's eyes. In the next moment, something unexpected happened.
"... Pfft. Hahahahahaha... No way you just said that. Hahahahahahaha..." Argentus started laughing hysterically and the others started laughing a bit as well. Soren, Tobias and Lavenza on the other hand were a bit confused and slightly annoyed with this whole situation.
"Did I say something funny right now?" Soren asked as he was staring at them with a serious expression and crossing his hands.
"Hahahaha... *wheeze* Wait, are you being serious right now?" Argentus asked seriously with a hint of surprise on his face after he stopped laughing for a bit.
"As serious as ever. Do you have any problems?" Tobias answered as he was swimming slowly towards a weapon rack that was nearby.
"N-No, it's just that... You were never the kind of guy who would get into meaningless fights, not even for fun." Argentus answered slightly nervously as he was feeling curious about Tobais' sudden change in his usual behavior.
"Of course, that still rings true. It's just to entertain the kid for a bit until the Commander finishes his business with his guest." Tobias answered with a lower voice as he was staring at Soren who was standing next to another weapon rack and was looking for a sword that fit him.
"Besides, I have been getting a bit rusty since I've been helping Gramps a bit too much these past few days, so a bit of exercise should loosen my body a bit." Tobias added with a confident voice as he decided to grab a coral warhammer and put it over his shoulders.
"Hmmm... Still... You do you, alright? Just be careful with him. You may not feel it, but I can feel a chill coming from him." Argentus answered to Tobias' explanation as he was staring at Soren with a serious expression.
"Yeah, yeah. Now, Soren, are you ready?" Tobias decided to end the conversation uncaringly and focused on the battle that was just about to come.
"Yes, I picked my weapon already." Soren then decided to wave the coral sword that he was holding on his hands.
"Are you two ready?" Argentus asked as he was standing between the two young men.
"I am." Tobias answered seriously as he was carrying his warhammer on his shoulder.
"Of course." Soren answered as he was getting into his usual battle stance.
"Five..." At that moment, all the surrounding Knights who were off duty started to count backwards.
"Four..."
"Three..."
"Two..."
"One..."
"Battle on!" At that moment, Soren's muscles contracted for one moment, before he charged instantly towards Tobias who had a casual stance. Just as the distance between the two of them started to close quickly, Tobias then gripped his hammer harder and bowed slightly as he was preparing for his move as well.
In a few seconds, Soren had closed all the distance between the two of them and prepared to rake the first move as he charged a downward attack, but just as Soren was going to brandish his sword, Tobias' body suddenly twirled and pulled down the handle of the hammer at the same time and that caused the hammer head on his back to not only rise quickly, but to also rotate around him and proceed to strike Soren. On the other hand, Soren barely saw the sudden motion and the moment he saw the hammer's incoming attack, he suddenly started conjuring a Mana Wall spell, hoping to mitigate the effect of the attack, but to no avail, the attack wasn't affected and then striked Soren on his head and pushed his backwards a bit as well.
Soren's head was hurting as he was trying to adjust his senses from being stricken by the attack. On the other hand, Tobias was only giving him a blank look, as if to show that he wasn't even close to his level.
"Tsk. Ptou. Son of a fish." Soren commented quietly as he spat a bit of blood from his mouth and stared at Tobias angrily.
"Oh, it's on now." Soren then exclaimed angrily as he was staring at Tobias with an angry expression on his face.
