"Rohan, can I ask what these "quests from nobles" are?" Soren asked with a curious expression on his face.
"They are quests that are given from nobles as personal requests. Usually those are guard duty jobs or collection jobs, but there is the occasional hunt of sorts. Anyways, for now you don't need to think much about them, they are request that are provided by the nobles, period." Rohan explained with a serious expression.
"Wait, there's something I would like to ask quickly." Soren looked in suprise as he was reading the list again.
"What is it?"
"Why are the rewards different from the mission rewards that were on the mission paper?"
"Like I said, it's a rank up quest, so depending on your rank, you would get your appropriate reward." Rohan explained again while holding his head with one hand.
"No, I'm talking about that. I'm talking about the rank F reward. Why is it only 50 copper coins?" Soren asked as he pointed on the rank F reward.
"Like I said, once again, is that this is a rank up quest. So of course, depending on your performance, you will be rewarded for your efforts. Even if you screwed up and somehow completed the quest, you would still get rewarded for your efforts. Even if you failed to complete the mission in time, it's better late than never." Rohan explained with a sinister smile on his face. Soren then felt a chill down his spine, before suddenly:
"Alright you two, I know want to talk more about quests and stuff, but don't you have a reward to claim Soren? As for you Rohan, don't you have to reward someone for their troubles?" Jay looked at the two of them with an annoyed expression while crossing his arms.
"Fine, fine. Come Soren, you have a reward to claim." Rohan spoke while signaling Soren to follow him. After that, the two of them went into one of the other rooms and then Rohan decided to speak again.
"Alright, your reward first and foremost. Here." Rohan then took out a bag of coins and gave it to Soren. The moment Soren received the bag, he saw that the inside had lots of iron coins inside of it, way more than the 15 iron coins that he was going to receive from the mission reward.
"Why are there so many coins?" Soren asked as he was trying to count the coins in the bag.
"Those are your mission rewards and the bounty rewards from killing Torque. As for how we found out that this Mer-Hobgoblin was a rare one, we have fully detailed bounties with monster illustriations, status, skill list and even common hunting grounds. As for your total reward, it goes to 450000 Kus or 45 iron coins." Rohan explained seriously as he took out a sheet of paper with Torque's appearance and information. As Soren was reading the sheet of paper, he was amazed that this sheet of paper had such details about him. The only discrepansy he noticed, was the slightly lower level and status, but aside from that, it was extremely accurate.
After putting the bounty poster awaty, Soren then asked:
"Isn't there another part to this reward Rohan?"
"I know, I know. Your weapon or armor that you want to claim. Tell me what you want to pick. For your information, the is no difference between the rewards of A and S, except the money reward." Rohan explained seriously.
"Hmmm..." Soren then started think about his choice for a bit before deciding.
"I'll take the armor."
There were two reasons for Soren to pick the armor. First, his armor was rather damaged with cuts and scratches thanks to battles he had the past week. Second, he wasn't sure for what kind of weapon he should go for, so he picked for the safer option, since it would be just overall better protection. After a couple of minutes, Rohan left the room and returned with a black and red shirt of sorts and once he gave it to Soren, he decided to check the stats on the shirt.
[Armored Sockeye Lether Armor: (DEF +73/Fire Resistance Up (Minor)) Armor made by Armored Sockeyes. It is said that Armored Sockeyrs live in the northern seas, but there have been reports of variants near all kinds of lakes, rivers and seas that come into contact with tropical forests. Although it's a bit inclear that this armor was made from normal or variant Sockeyes, it's still highly durable, provides decent protection and has been enchanted with fire magic to give some protection against fire based magic.]
"Wow. That's one hell of an armor. It comes even with an enchantment." Soren said as he chuckled and checked the armor from all sides.
"If you think that's good, you'll love the equipment that you will be able to get at rank A. Just for your information, most of the armor that is worn by rank A adventurers has the Magic Resistance enchantment, which is way better than elemental enchantments that are put in the weaker armor equipment." Rohan explained while having a smug expression.
"Wait, how much would this armor go on the market?" Soren asked suddenly while looking at it.
"Hmmm... If I were to give it a rough estimate, it would go for around 15 to 20 iron coins. I doubt it would go much higher than 20 iron coins, but then again, I'm not an expert in appraisal." Rohan explained while rubbing his head a bit and having a thoughtful expression.
After looking at the armor for a few seconds, Soren's mood darkened and looked at Rohan for a bit. He felt a bit guilty since he had received so much from Rohan, yet he hadn't given anything in return yet. He was thankful for Rohan who provided him with shelter, food and even equipment for his quest, but he didn't know what to give to him in return. Also, the fact that he had revealed his biggest secret to complete strangers, when he hadn't revealed that to a friend, it made Soren feel like he didn't trust Rohan and that made him feel horrible.
"Is something wrong Soren? You look a bit dissatisfied." Rohan asked when he saw Soren's dark mood. After a minute of silence, Soren then decided to look at Rohan and say with a serious expression:
"There's something I have to tell you."
"Oh? What is it?" Rohan asked slightly suprised.
"Actually, I would like to talk somewhere else, not here." Soren answered seriously.
"Oh. That's suprising. Where do you want talk?" Rohan asked with a thoughtful expression.
"Hmmm... Your place should be good." Soren answered with a serious expression.
"Okay..." At that moment, Soren, Rohan and a sleeping Lavenza left the guild and made their way towards Rohan's house to have a serious 1 on 1 conversation. Soren felt nervous throughout the entire eay back, because he wasn't sure on how to tell him. Should he be straightforward or should he be a bit more roundabout about it. As he was thinking about it, he was also starting to feel nervous about Rohan's reaction as well.
After a little while, the three of them reached Rohan's house and Soren knew that he had to explain things now, but he wasn't sure how exactly he should explain things. Before when he told to Diana and the rest, he was forced into it, or rather he was tricked into being forced into it, but either way, he was forced to say it. In Aureus' case, Soren knew that he would have known ahead of time, so there would be no point in hiding something that was known. But now, he had to reveal it since he willingly got himself in this situation.
Once the three of them entered, Soren decided to put Lavenza away to sleep, without waking her up and then went into the living room where Rohan was waiting.
"So, what did you want say before?" Rohan asked with his armed crossed.
"Ummm... Uhhh... Can you promise you won't get mad once you hear me out?" Soren said nervously as he looked away.
"It depends on what you intend to say." Rohan answered as he looked at Soren with a serious expression.
"So... Uhhh... I don't know how to say this, but I..."
"Just say it already." Rohan spoke angrily.
"Fine. I'm a reincarnator and I'm sorry about hiding it from you." Soren spoke sincerely while bowing down. Rohan, on the other hand, was rather suprised from Soren's answer. He was preparing himself for anything, even when it came to somehow cheating the test or even worse, but that answer put all of his worries to rest and then he spoke with a look of relief on his face:
"Phewww... You had me worried for a second there Soren."
"Huh?" Soren was suprised by Rohan's expression and he was giving him a weird stare.
"What? Is there a problem?" Rohan looked at Soren with a more casual expression.
"I was expecting... Y'know, more... I don't know. I was expecting you to get angry or something or maybe getting shocked by revelation." Soren answered back with a flustered expression.
"Why should I get angry to someone who did nothing wrong? It's natural that you want to hide that. Besides, being a reincarnator is not as much of a big deal as you might think. After all, at least 7 reincarnators come every four years and with the passage of time, more and more will come, be it through the normal summons or through whatever other means are out there. So don't fret over too much over it." Rohan explained before then putting his hand on Soren's shoulder and then leaving for his room.
"Hey, what do you mean by that?" Soren then tried to chase Rohan to ask for some explanations as the night went on.
