In one of the gardens owned by the Longinus household, there were two maids who were currently moving a couple of snall boxes. While doing so, a loud ghostly screech was heard before one of the maids commented:
"I wonder who's Vale's new guinea pig for the day?"
"I think it was that guest I saw a little while ago." The other maid answered back with a thoughtful expression.
"Do you want to bet that he will leave the infirmary and the mansion the moment he stops?" The first maid asked curiously.
"I don't know and I don't care all that much in the first place. As long as I am not the one being experimented on, then I don't care what he does to the others." The second maid while looking relieved.
"You're cruel, you know that?" The first maid gave a scornful look at the second maid.
"Hey, I'm just trying to survive in this world, or would you like to take his place to show that you aren't cruel like me?" The second maid said with a serious expression.
"..."
"Thought so. Let's get moving." The second maid said uncaringly while looking at the first maud's nervous and pale expression.
...
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"
"Can you please shut up? You are sounding like a Sea-Wolf who is giving birth!" Vale was yelling at Soren while trying to put some ointment on Soren's back which as covered in burn marks.
"I DIDN'T EXPECT YOU TO BE USING MEDICINE AS A TORTUAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOO!!!! GOD THAT HURTS!" Soren was currently in a world of pain thanks to the medicine that Vale was putting on his burn marks. Although Lavenza was only watching, she could still feel Soren's pain just from his screams and the only thing she could do was to pray that this torture could end soon enough.
...
"Go sit on the bed and take off all of your armor so I can start the examination." Vale ordered Soren while he was looking for something in his desk.
"Wait what? Take all my armor off?" Soren asked slightly nevously.
"Yes, is there a problem?" Vale asked uncaringly.
"No... No problems." Soren answered slightly nervously before he started taking off his armor. After taking all of his armor off, he was only left with the shirt and a tailwear which was considered more of a pair of underwear rather than tailwear. Aside from those, there were also bandages that were sticking out slightly from the shirt.
"All right, I took off my entire armor."
"Just give me a... Here it is, the rotten thing was hidden deep in my drawers." Vale then took out a syringe from one of the drawers. After taking the syringe from his desk, he then went to one of cabinets and filled the syringe with some sort of colorless liquid before putting the filled syringe to the side of the desk and went to check on Soren.
"Alright, take off yoir shirt as well. I can't have a good visual of the injuries if they are clothes covering them." Vale said while staring at Soren with a serious expression.
"F-Fine... Lavenza, can you turn around please?" Soren spoke rather nervously.
"Kyuu~?"
"J-Just do it and don't ask why." Soren ordered her while holding himself from panicing. Lavenza felt that Soren being rather serious about it and turned around quickly. After she did that, Soren then started taking off his all of his armor. After a minute or so, the only thing that Soren was wearing were the clothes he bought around a week ago, as well as a few pieces of the bandage that he had under the shirt from when Leana had taken care of him.
"Take off the clothes as well. I want to see the injuries with my own eyes and see the damage." Vale said seriously while he started looking for something else in one of the cabinets.
"What!? Hell no. I don't want to be buck naked doctor." Soren yelled with a suprised expression.
"Who said you needed to be buck naked kid? Just take your upper clothes off, no need to show me your privates."
After Vale said that, Soren threw a sigh of relief before taking off the shirt and now the only thing that was covering his upper body were Leana's bandages. But aside from the bandages, Soren noticed that his body had quite a big burn scar that covered his entire upper body, more specifically his torso and waist had a burn scar similar to being burnt with a flamethrower from the front. This scar actually made Soren panic a little because he didn't have that scar when he was in Leana's cave.
"Hmmm... Here we go. Now, let's see the damage." The moment he said that, he took another container from the cabinet and then decided to check on Soren's injuries. Even with the bandages covering a decent amount of his body, Vale could easily tell what kind of injuries Soren had and the treatment required for it.
"Did you fight any Mana Elementals recently?" Vale asked emotionlessly while starting to write something on a notebook.
"No, what are those?" Soren asked curiously.
"Did you get near any Mana Geysers?" Vale ignored Soren's question and continued his analysis.
"No and what-" Just as Soren was going to ask, he was interupted again.
"Did you fight any monsters that use a lot of attributeless magic skills like Mana skills?"
"Hmmm... Actually I did fight one but why are you asking?" Soren asked curiously.
"How many Mana spells did you get hit with?"
"I don't know, maybe a good dozen times or even more?"
"What were the Mana spells that you were hit with?"
"Hmmm... Well the only Mana spell that opponent had was Mana Burst."
"Hmmm... Now I see..." At that moment, Vale then took the syringe and filled it with the colorless liquid and then said to Soren:
"Show me your arm a bit." At that moment, Soren showed his right arm and the Vale injected him with the syringe that had the colorless liquid.
"Ow. Was that supposed to be an injection to cure my body?" Soren asked while looking at him warily.
"No, it's an anesthetic." The moment Vale answered that, Soren's body suddenly collapsed on the bed and he couldn't move it anymore.
"Hey, what the hell is this? Didn't you say it was an anesthetic?" Soren asked angrily while trying to move his body.
"It is one, but it also causes your body to go limp. Unfortunately, I don't have anything better than this so we have to make do with this." Vale answered while opening the other container.
"But why did you have to use anesthetic right now?" Soren asked curiously while still struggling to move his body, only to not be able to move.
"Because your body is currently suffering from heavy Mana Burns. Although they are only a couple of days old, they are very nasty and if they aren't treated by tomorrow, they will be horrible aftereffects." Vale explained uncaringly.
"Such as?"
"From muscle cramps to total organ failure, you name it. Case and point, you need treatment."
"And what is that treatment?"
"There are two ways to treat those Mana Burns. One of them is slow and painless, the other is fast and painful. Considering also the orders from the missus of the house, you don't the luxury to pick."
"So that means...?" Soren asked slightly nervously.
"Well... Don't faint." At that moment, Vale then put the some of the ointment that was in that second container to the upper left part of Soren's torso and at the same time, Soren also felt a horrible pain that felt like someone was salt and ice on his wounds. It was a horrible feeling that forced Soren to scream his lungs out and that entire process actually lasted for a whole forty five minutes.
...
"And we are done." Vale said casually while he wiped his forehead with his hand. Soren on the other hand though looked like the life from his eyes has left and what remained was just an empty husk of a body as he was talking emotionlessly:
"Am I in heaven now?"
"No you're not. Now where is the little one to give a check?" Vale was looking for Lavenza, but when he found her, he found her trembling while hiding under a table.
"Hmmm... She should be fine. I don't see any injuries or anything else." After he said that, he picked Lavenza and put her down on the table and then started to put the containers back in their places before throwing away the syringe.
"Say... How long will I be like this?" Soren asked expressionlessly while trying to look at him.
"Your body shouldn't take any longer than a good fifteen minutes to go back to normal, but you should wait slightly longer, just in case there are any lingering aftereffects from the anesthetic." Vale answered uncaringly.
"Now that you mentioned the anesthetic, how come it didn't nullify my sense of pain? It is supposed to be an anesthetic after all." Soren asked curiously about it.
"That anesthetic is a particularly powerful one, capable of paralysing even some of the biggest sea monsters. High doses of that anesthetic can cause a delayed sense of pain, paralysis and complete organ breakdown. For you, that dose was enough to dull that sense of pain for some time and make your body limp so I wouldn't be having trouble with applying the ointment on an uncontrollable person." Vale explained fully while making his way to sit on his desk.
At that moment, the only thing Soren could think of was:
'That thing is clearly overkill. Especially for me.'
