Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: Preparations (Part 2)

-Crystalia City, Rohan's house-

After Rohan gave the mission to Soren, he left from the guild and made his way back to his home, he was greeted with Matt making up his bag in the living room. Rohan was a bit suprised, so he decided to ask:

"Going on a mission again Matt?"

"Unfortunately." Matt answered back dejected.

"What's the mission?" Rohan asked curiously.

"Reckon again. And this time, it's definitely a wild goose chase, in my opinion." Matt said with an annoyed expression.

"So... Hehe. What's the job and from who?" Rohan asked while trying to hold back his laughter from Matt's frowning face.

"Allegedly, during the period of the summoning, there were some rumors from some of the races that an 8th hero has been summoned. The only thing they want from me, was to confirm the rumors and if it is possible, locate the 8th hero." Matt said while holding his head with his right hand.

"So, with the way you are talking about this quest, I can assume this is one of "those" quests, am I right?" Rohan asked for confirmation.

"The HCQs, those. I hate those types of missions." Matt said frustrated.

"The feeling is mutual brother. The feeling, is, mutual. Just finish the quest and begone from there. Don't bother too much with the tiny details on that one, since they just want a confirmation for the existance of the supposed "8th hero"." Rohan patted Matt's shoulders so he could comfort and support him.

"Got it. Almost forgot, what did you do with Soren's quest?" Matt asked curiously.

"Well..." After that, Rohan explained the quest he made for Soren and after the explanation, Mayy felt like another headache was surging and said frustrated:

"You really do have issues Rohan."

...

-Crystalia City, Central streets-

After Soren and Lavenza left the Coral Garden Park, their next destination was the Adventurer's Guild for the purpose of asking the location for taking care of monster corpses. Once they made it there, they saw that the Guild was actually pretty rowdy during the end of the day. There were various parties and solo adventurers that were talking with each other, without much care. After reaching the front desks where reception was, they didn't Jay nearby, so for now, they decided to ask one of the available employees on the reception. The one that they decied to approach, was a merman who had dark skin, black hair, brown eyes and a red shining tail and Soren asked:

"Sir, may I ask where I can sell monster corpses?"

"You're new here if I recall correctly. The butcher's shop right next next to us is the place where our adventurers go to sell theur corpses." The dark-skinned merman said politely, while giving a quick assessment to Soren.

"Thank you sir." Soren said gratefully before he left.

After Soren left, Jay came out of one of the rooms with some casual clothing and said to the dark-skinned man:

"Catch you later Reins and thanks for covering my afternoon shift."

"No problem Jay. Go and good luck on your date. Just don't say anything regarding sizes." The man named Reins said while he was swimming towards Jay before he finished his sentence while whispering it.

"Take care man." After that, Jay left the guild. While Jay was leaving the building, Soren had already entered the butcher's shop, which was next to the guild. The shop itself, had a lot of displays with all kinds of meat, some of which were different than the normal red and pink color of meat and instead were brown or green. Also, there are a couple of employees who were cutting meat, processing the leather and bringing vials with some sort of red liquid , but some of them had other colors, such as purple and yellow. After looking around for a bit, one of the employees asked Soren politely:

"Hello sir. How may I help you?"

That man had blue hair, cyan eyes and tail. After the employee asked Soren, he answered back politely:

"I wish to sell some monster corpses here."

"What kind of corpses are those?" The man with the blue hair asked seriously.

"Sea wolves." Soren said seriously.

"I see. Then let me confirm the condition of the corpses and then give an appropriate price for theur quality." The blue haired man said seiously. After that, Soren opened his bag and started taking the corpses one by one until he took out 8 of the Sea Wolf corpses that he had. The entire process lasted for around a couple of minutes, but the appraisal process took around 20 or so minutes, after checking the condition of the corpses, the lethal injuries that could have ruined the corpse and the amount of hand-process done from the adventurer themeselves.

"Have you tried to process any of these corpses all by yourself?" The man asked Soren.

"No, I don't even know how to do that, or even where to start with that." Soren said seriously.

"Hmmm... No processing and clean beheading for half of these, while the other half had bite marks on weak spots and almost no struggle." The man said quietly to himself.

"Alright, after appraising the corpses, the amount of cash that should be appropriate for selling these, is exactly 20000 Kus or 2 iron coins." The man explained seriously after appraising the carcasses and then taking out two iron coins from a nearby box.

"Thank you. Take care." Soren said after taking the iron coins and before he left.

"Thank you for your patronage." The employee answered back.

After Soren had left, one of the nearby employees came and asked:

"Super rookie?"

"Who knows? I don't look much into it if someone just started or if it's some pro who just wants a quick buck. Enough dilly-dallying around." Thr blue haired man said seriously without caring about the business of others.

"Now that we have our funds for the preparations, we can check that off the list. Next, equip- GOD I REALISED IT NOW!" Soren said in shock after he realised that he missed something.

"Kyuu~?" Lavenza was shocked and curious.

"I'm not wearing anything under my armor and if I going for repairs, I may have to take it off so they can fix it and the idea of being buck-naked in a shop is not appealing to me. Before equipment repairs, I need clothing." Soren said in a slightly comedic fashion.

After that quick change in plans, their next destination was a clothing shop that was nearby. The shop itself was a second-hand clothing shop, so the clothes were pretty cheap, so after picking up a white shirt and some gray tailwear, he was left with around 16000 Kus.

The next destination now was a weaponsmith's shop. Thankfully for Soren, he remembered the weapon shop that he had gone to with Rohan. After entering the shop, he couldn't help but still feel a bit amazed by the selection of weapons. This time though, he had to remain focused on his objective.

"Hello sir. How may I help you?" The employee near one of the counters asked.

"I would like to have my weapon repaired a bit." Soren said that while he was showing his sword. The sword itself had a few scratches and has lost a bit of it's edge in some of it's parts, but aside from that, it was still in good condition.

"Hmmm... A little bit of tempering and sharpening should do the job. If you want it to be repaired now, you can wait for 10 minutes until it's finished repairing. Also the cost for it is going to be 1500 Kus, do you wish to repair your weapon?" The employee said in a professional manner.

"Alright." Soren gave the sword and 2 big copper coins to the employee.

"Glad to ne doing business with you." After that, the employee took the sword and the money and gave him 5 copper coins before he went to the back of the shop. While Soren was waiting, he decided to check on some more weapons and after around 10 minutes, the man came back with the sword in hand. The sword itself looked as good as new and it was like it was never used in the first place.

After leaving the weapon shop, Soren's next stop was an armor shop. The shop itself had quite a few pieces of equipment on racks, displays and wooden mannequins. Just as Soren was going to one of the employees, a ring was heard and one of the employees said:

"The armor shop is closing for today. Come tomorrow again."

'Dammit. So unlucky.' Soren thought to himself before he left the shop slightly disappointed.

"I guess for now, we just need to buy the other supplies and save the repair of the armor for tomorrow Lavenza." Soren said in a casual manner before they left the vicinity of the shop. The next hour, the duo spent their time going through a couple of shops to buy antidotes, rations and a bottle for salt collection and after that quick shoping spree, he was left with around 8000 Kus.

"Man, buying so many supplies shows that you need to invest quite a bit on this kind of work, but then again, every job is like that." Soren said while streching his arms and swimming towards the Hungry Clam to eat. After having another uneventful dinner , the duo returned back to Rohan's house and once they entered, Soren took the helmet off and sat down on the couch, while Lavenza just decided to lay on the couch a bit.

"Seems like you have been busy with preparations Soren." Rohan said with a happy expression.

"Tell me about it. I still need to get the armor fixed up a bit, but aside from that, I believe I should be ready. The only problem now, is that I'll have an entire empty day to myself tomorrow and I don't know how to spend it." Soren said with a tired voice.

"Just rest. You have been going on full blast on work and fights, so give yourself a break. You will be suprised how much your mentality gets drained if you don't take a break every once in a while." Rohan explained seriously.

"Guess I'll have to take up on your advice for tomorrow... Now, I just want to sleep... a bit..." Soren said before the fatigue hit him again and then fell asleep on the couch with Lavenza already asleep next to him.

"Honestly, you two are quite the handful." Rohan said before the took out a blanket and covered the two of them with it.
