Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: A calm moment of rest

"Tsk. Careful with that Matt." Soren said in pain while Matt was treating Soren's wounds.

"Well, I can't do my job if I have you moving every time I touch you. If you want those wounds patched up, you better bear through the stinging pain, before it gets even worse." Matt said angrily.

While Matt was struggling with patching up Soren, Lavenza was lying on one of the tables, while Rohan was reading a newspaper with the date: "23rd day of the 8th Sun 973".

"And done. Your big bruise should be healed up within the next couple of days, as well as the cuts in the same way, just don't take off the bandages and avoid any strainous or dangerous activities." Matt said seriously after spending some time on patching up Soren.

"Thanks Matt." Soren said a bit embarassingly due to the situation from before, as well as the experience of getting patched up.

"Now that you have been bandaged, don't you have to say something Soren?" Rohan said to Soren seriously while looking at him.

"Uhhh... What do you mean Rohan?" Soren said nervously while trying to dodge the issue.

"I don't know, maybe it's the fact that you NEARLY LOST YOUR LIFE TO A RAVAGED WOLF!?" Rohan said that angrily while he put down his newspaper.

Soren felt like anything he could think of, would end up with him being told off, so he decided to apologise.

"I'm sorry. I really underestimated that monster and it nearly cost me my own life and Lavenza's life."

"Soren, I'm not angry with you fighting the ravaged wolf. I'm angry with you because you fight recklessly. You don't know how to take the safe approach and end up making some extremely risky startegies that could easily cause your demise, should you make even a tiny mistake during their execution. Like before, that wolf saw your trick and ended up turning it against you, nearly taking you out in one motion. If you intend to continue using those strategies, you won't last long." Rohan said seriously.

"Then what should I do? I don't know any other ways of approaching the battle, aside from throwing daredevil strategies." Soren said seriously.

"Hmmm... I guess, for starters you need to work on your foundation. You may have the courage for some really risky things, but you need proper training and experience for battles and all kinds of situations." Rohan said seriously.

"Then, how do I get working on that?" Soren asked.

"We will talk about that at another time. For now, focus on recuparating for the next couple of days and don't strain yourself. In fact, avoid anything combat related for the next couple of days." Rohan answered back at Soren.

"I see..." Soren felt slightly disappointed that he had to wait for an answer, but it was understandable since he had to heal up, before he even tried anything else. After that, Rohan rose from his chair and said:

"Don't bother me for the rest of the night. If you need to eat something, there is food in the fridge or you can go to the food stall, I believe by now, the rush hour should already be over." After that, Rohan went to his room and locked the door to his room.

*sigh* "This is the first time I see Rohan so angry. I guess I really screwed up this time." Soren said dejectedly to himself.

"Nah, don't worry too much about it. He is being like that so he can teach you a lesson." Suddenly, Matt came out of the bathroom and said seriously to Soren.

"Still, he was right. I make way too many reckless strategies. Just like yesterday with that supposed assassin." Soren said slightly dejected.

"Wait, supposed assassin? Soren, what happened yesterday?" Matt said seriously.

'I guess I really my foot in my mouth on that one.' Soren thought to himself, while Matt was looking at him seriously.

"The gist of it, was that when I went to the church to see the summoning, someone tried an assassination on one of the nobles and I managed to find out about it, at least some time before the assassination. After finding out, I told one of the nobles and thanks to him, we managed to catch the assassin. Turns out though, that said assassin, was actually a member of the church who was in charge of a test. That is all." Soren explained as much as he could. He wanted to avoid explaining everything, but as long as it wasn't something that has to stay absolutely under wraps, he wouldn't have any problem answering

*sigh* "Soren, I don't know how or why, but somehow, trouble seems to be attracted to you the entire time." Matt said while rubbing his head before he added:

"You know what? I think I'll just call it early for today, because it's getting pretty out of hand, but don't think I'll forget about this Soren. We are going to talk about this again at another time. Until then though, take care now." Matt said with a tired expression before he went to his room as well.

'I guess that is an early day for them.' Soren thought to himself.

"I guess I did give them one hell of a headache. Uhhh... And here I thought I had taken care of my trouble magnet. Turns out that I never had any sort of trouble that could come and bite me before, but now it seems like anything will try to involve me in all kinds of trouble." Soren said with a depressed expression.

"Kyuu~?" Lavenza seemed a bit lost with Soren's monologue.

"It's nothing to worry about Lavenza. For now, let's go to the Hungry Clam and eat something before we call it a day as well." Soren said happily to Lavenza.

After Soren put his armor again to cover most of his bandages, he and Lavenza left Rohan's house and made their way towards the food stall. Once they made their way there, they saw that there was no line, but it was still pretty packed. After finding a seat for himself, he sat down and decided to give his order.

"Two big bowls of clam ramen Shaun." Soren said to Shaun who was cooking.

"Coming right up kid." Shaun answered back quickly before he continued his cooking.

After around half an hour of waiting, Shaun then gave the duo two large bowls of clam ramen and they started eating it immidiately. The whole meal was pretty uneventful for them, so after finishing the meal and paying Shaun, they made their way back to Rohan's house.

"I guess things have been pretty hectic these past few days, so a day or two of resting should give us the recovery we need." Soren said with a happy expression.

"Kyuu~." Lavenza also seemed pretty tired.

After Lavenza's response, Soren's happy expression became serious and started to think about all the things he had learned, as well as his goals for the future.

After making their way back, they went inside the house and straight to the guest room and started setting up the bed-couch to rest. Lavenza immidiately fell asleep on Soren the moment she got the chance to lay down, while Soren was looking at the ceiling with a blank expression.

'The founders, the stories, the deal, the battles and the reunion. Just what were those past couple of days. The questions keep piling up and the answers are becoming less and less. I managed to learn a bit more about Lavenza's family and the city itself, but the events are still a blur, like what happened to Laventhign for her to be there, what were the events back then and what was leviathan doing there at the time. And I still need to find out more about Pallas City. What should I do now? Should I search inforation for Pallas City or the events of 500 years ago?' Soren sorted out his thoughts for a while, while wonderkng about his plans.

After that, Soren started to close his eyes and started think about something from his elementary school years and faintly heard: "STOP! YOU DON'T NEED TO GO THAT FAR!" At that point, Soren said quietly to himself: "Come on, I have dealt with worse. *chuckle*"

...

In the meantime, in an extremely dark chamber, there was a man laying down on a pitch black bed. That man had long, pitch black hair and although most of his facial details couldn't be shown due to the darkness, his mouth could still be seen, thanks to a crack on a wall that allowed a tiny bit of light to enter the room. Then suddenly, the mouth suddenly turned into a slightly smiling mouth before it moved and said: "I guess you were always an idiot, friend." After that, the mouth turned back to how it was before.
