Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Zoe Mcklesi

Zoe was in a completely unidentified place. It seemed like a garden with plants everywhere and she notices a group of friends laying down beneath a trees' shade. She approached them slowly and gasped at the sight. There laid two boys and three girls. Zoe managed to identify one of the girls as Queen Arlina. She had the same blond hair in a plait and wore a school uniform neatly. Her skin was the same tone and her flawless face was nearly the same as the queen Zoe knew from her time. The two boys were unmistakably King James and King Vector. They seemed to be laughing together like a real brother. 'Meaning this is most probably in the past… A flashback?' James had been teasing Vector who was blushing bright red.

But the other two were unfamiliar. The first one was a werewolf girl. She had wolf ears similar to the werewolf Zoe had met in her time and her tail was swinging elegantly behind her. She had brown short hair in a boy cut and had a crooked smile as she also enjoyed embarrassing Vector. The other girl seemed familiar but Zoe couldn't put her tongue on the answer. She had brown hair till her shoulders, square glasses under her eyes in an old fashion way, and wore her uniform crookedly. She had a book in hand and smiled softly at her friends. 'Her face… I think I've seen it somewhere before?'

"Oh come on Samantha! You have to agree that this guy is a shy boy!" James grinned while poking Vector in the shoulder. The name made Zoe's pupils shrink in realization. This was her mother; Samantha Mckelsi. 'This is mom's' past!'

"James. He gets to love a girl in his own way. He's not like you, showing the entire world you love Arlina so much…" Samantha sighed while her eyes read the book in hand. "If he wants' to keep his emotions to himself, so be it. It's all his own choices."

Vector raised his head and gave her a thankful smile while the werewolf girl laughed. "Honestly Samantha! If you weren't a nerd, I would've shipped you with Vector!"

"I-I'm not in love with Samantha, Mitsuru!" Vector spluttered. "She's like a big sister to me!" He explained.

"Of course I am, silly" Samantha laughed before the situation changed to another place.

James and Arlina stood on an aisle in their wedding suits. Arlina was wearing a crown while James kneeled down to receive the position he was married into. His best man and brother, Vector, watched them from behind, feeling happy for them. And Arlina's best woman, Samantha offered a tissue on the occasion.

"They were meant to be," she sighed, "So, what are you going to do now, Vector? Arlina offered me a high position in the Department of Administration."

Vector glanced at her from the corner of his eye and his smile dropped slightly. "But didn't your research discovered a different world just recently? I've heard that you plan on living there…" he spoke softly so nobody could hear their conversation.

"That's true, but I will stay with Arlina until the day I die. She is my founder of the entire research. I will return here after a while and continue contributing my life to her…" Samantha took a step back as cameramen hurried forward and Vector followed suit.

They soon reached an empty room in the church and Vector loosened his tie while Samantha took off her heels. She sat down and huffed. "I'm planning on getting married there, Vector. When I do, I might bring my kids back here… And if they do, I want them to have some friends that aren't from royalty. So can I count on you?"

Vectors' eyes widen in surprise at her statement and his face went flustered for awhile. "You want me… To have kids?"

Samantha laughed at his reaction and nodded. She wanted things to go well for all of her friends. Vector pouted at her as her laughter filled the air and the situation changed once more.

A small village was the new place Zoe appeared in and she saw kids running around in joy. Sitting under an old oak tree with a laptop in his lap was Vector. He was typing something while glancing over at the kids. His expression was soft and happy. 'It seems like he's doing okay.' Zoe thought. Suddenly, a kid tripped over his shoelaces and Vector stood to help, only for a beautiful lady to rush forward.

The lady was definitely a beauty. Her gold hair was loose and she wore a small dress over a t-shirt. She gently kneeled down and offered a bandage to the kid. As she placed it over the wound, Vector slowly reached into his pocket and pulled out a camera. As he took a few pictures, he began to notice the girl was staring at him and he jumped slightly and she walked over to him. He backed up into the tree trunk until she was only inches away.

"Who do you think you are?" She asked while lifting her palm. "Don't just take people's pictures without their authorization. It's called 'privacy'," she huffed.

"I-I-" he stuttered, completely frozen in her presence, "I like you a lot! Can you o out with me?" He said while bending down ninety degrees.

The girl kept quiet at first before laughing and slowly she patted his head and nodded. Vector smiled at her answer and they gently held hands before the scene changed once more to something horrible. It was the same town but something wasn't right. The people were crowding around in the middle and Zoe gasped insight of the lady from before being tied to the stake and surrounded by firewood. Her eyes were hollow and Zoe noticed the abnormal bulge in her stomach. 'She's pregnant!' A man went to the front and began a speech.

"This lady has been accused of living with a monster! And in her stomach is the child of the monster! She must be killed before the child is born! It will only bring us misfortune!" He roared, getting the approval of so many others.

Zoe noticed Vector in a cloak staring up at the girl. Their eyes met and she gave him an apologetic look while shaking her head in disapproval. Vector clenched his fists as darkness swarmed around it and he bit his lip. Zoe wanted to scream for them to let her go, to let Vector live happily, to stop such monstrosity. But this was all in the past and nobody could change what happened next as the mayor of the town tossed a match into the firewood.

The scenario changed finally to a huge building. Zoe found herself facing her mother and Vector. Vector looked completely different from when she first saw him. His hair was a mess, his clothes were torn and he was injured. Yet he held himself in place while lifting a sword at Samantha. Samantha was just staring back at the blade with a look of misery.

"It's all your fault, Samantha! You control the law and order of this country! How could you let Mary die just like that?" he yelled while pressing the blade closer to her throat. "You… You just let her-"

"I couldn't have done anything, Vector," she spoke softly while her shoulders dropped in despair. "The Mayor did everything on his own account. I only knew about it five days later…"

"Don't make excuses!" he pushed the blade closer until blood drew from her neck. "You-You…"

The sound of footsteps approaching caught their ears and Zoe glanced at the door that was being banged on by multiple people. Apparently, it was locked and they looked back at Samantha who began laughing abruptly. Vector's hand trembled as he watched her lower the blade to her stomach and stepped forward.

"My own promise was destroyed by me. I'm sure you can't love anyone other than her… So I have nothing to look forward to…" she said softly while taking another step and winced as the blade pierced into her skin. "I've never regretted anything in life, Vector. But for the first time, I truly regret this. I regret not being there for you when you needed me the most. So… I'm sorry…"

Vector remained motionless as the blade went through her body and she slowly reached out to hug him. His eyes shrunk as her last words entered his eras and she died in his arms shortly. Zoe stood there with tears filling her vision, unable to escape this reality, and watched as the scene unraveled back to reality while Samantha Mckelsi's last words echoed through her ears…

"My daughter is the last remaining descendent of the Light Kingdoms' royal bloodline…"

A bright aura filled the area and everyone suddenly couldn't breathe. Jane noticed the aura was coming from Zoe who was looking up as if everything around her didn't matter. She quickly hurried towards Zoe and tried calling out her name. When she got to close, random thoughts, memories, and scenarios' hit her mind like a cannonball. Jane clenched her teeth and shut her eyes as she tried to make sense of the multiple voices.

"GO TO HELL! WITCH!!"

"Do you think this world is all true? It's not. This kingdom itself is all fake!"

"Make your mother proud, Ricky…"

"PLEASE!! DON'T DO THIS, GENERAL! THIS ISN'T THE WAY!"

"Mom died, Jane… She died…" a clear voice hit everything away. Jane opened her eyes and realized that she had managed to grab hold of her shoulder. Zoe's expression was blank but hey words were everything. "I saw it… I can't believe it. I've lived through everything in hopes of seeing her again…"

Jane finally understood her words and did something she wouldn't normally do. She pulled her into her arms and embraced her like a sister. She sighed as the light began to simmer until the rest could see. Blaze staggered towards her and patted Zoe's trembling head. Zahira and Ricky looked at their surroundings. It hadn't occurred to them that Mobious's dark powers would be canceled by Zoe's own powers and caused him to faint. Sorako stumbled towards his boss and held him up while Ricky stepped forward.

"We lose. I guess this the end of us, Soubiyo?" he asked the elder boy who looked at his unconscious boss.

"Yeah. Mobious lost, SMS loses. I can't move an inch anyway. Help anyone?" he asked while looking at the princess.

Blaze stepped forward and pulled out handcuffs but before she could get any closer, Mobious opened his eyes and darkness engulfed him and his friends. The Flame Sisters watched as the darkness became a typhoon. They jumped as screams bean to escape and when it went away, they saw Mobious standing alone with a sad smile.

"I forfeit myself. Don't go after them. They deserve better…" he said while lifting his wrists. "Ready to finish what we started, Blaze?"

Blaze looked at him uncertainly before cuffing him tightly. He glanced back at Zoe who had collapsed in Janes' arms and smiled.

"I have high expectations on my fellow opposite… Zoe Mckelsi."
