This is a story from the Yuusha's perspective, Part 2
-----------------------------------------------------------------
--- I was in the audience hall.
The Royal Castle was truly a majestic place where the ruler of the country resides..
A huge structure that can be seen even from outside the city. In a way that it would be just as splendid if you go inside. Paintings and art works that I've never seen were placed in several places, and I, who walked inside such place, was probably just as meek as a lamb.
I was led to a place where I will meet the King.
As I expected, I am not alone in this place. Pain-san and several other church members are present.
Having no way of knowing the etiquettes towards a royalty, I bent my knee towards the throne by imitating Pain-san and the others, and intently waited for the person to arrive.
--- Suddenly, the incident of just a few hours ago was replayed in my mind. It's a scene where as soon as we arrived in the Royal Capital, Yukina jumped from the carriage.
"Really, he's a troublesome friend, the guy."
"Ahahaha..."
Closing the door that was left open after Yukina jumped out, Pain-san said it reproachfully with a sigh. I had no choice but to laugh it away vaguely.
From our conversation on the way to the Royal Capital, I could sense that being the "Yuusha(me)'s attendant" is an opportunity for Yukina. However, I didn't expect him to simply take a solo action like this. I thought that he would surely follow us even to the audience with the King.
For the ordinary people, the villagers, the Royal Family is a god-like existence. Even if you have seen them from a distance, could you ever meet them up close once in your life?
Even though it was a valuable experience for everyone, it seems that it was not very interesting for Yukina.
Which reminds me, it seemed that Yukina was talking with the people from church from time to time. Maybe it has something to do with the reason why he came to the Royal Capital. If I got the chance, maybe I could try to ask the people he had spoke with.
"What would you like to do with him? It wouldn't be easy to find him when he slipped into the crowd, but..."
"It can't be helped. I'm going to the audience with the King without Yukina."
To be frank, I wanted Yukina to come with me to the audience with the King. I wanted him to see the scene when the highest-ranking person, who rules this country, to recognize me as the Yuusha.
However, that guy is completely doing things at his own pace, but on the other hand, he hate his own pace to be destroyed above all else. It was obvious that Yukina would stubbornly resist if we make him go with us forcibly.
"...Are you sure?"
"It's alright. The people of the church are all good people. So if you guys will be there, it is reassuring even if I live in the Royal Capital."
"Being told that by Yuusha-sama, I am deeply moved for our church."
I could understand that the people of the church are all good people on the way to the Royal Capital. Although I was chosen as the Yuusha, they kindly treated me who's just a young man from the countryside. If they would be here for me, I felt like I won't feel lonely and be at ease even without Yukina.
"The King has arrived. Everyone, please show your courtesy."
The castle's servant announced the King's arrival and my consciousness was brought back to the present.
As we were bowing our head and waiting, soon a man accompanied by a soldier clad in sturdy armor appeared.
I guess, the person walking at the front is the one we were waiting for.
With my face remain downwards, I can see nothing but the person's feet. Yet, as soon as he appeared, the atmosphere within the audience hall seemed tense. When I slightly looked behind with my face still pointing down, the expressions of the church members were also tense.
"Church members, thank you for your hard work. Everyone, raise your head."
Receiving permission, we raised our heads.
This is the first time I've seen him, but there's no doubt. He is surely King Bernst who rules this country.
Although he's wearing an outfit adorned in ornaments, I can perceive his strong build inside it. That majestic appearance is certainly the proof of the ruler of this country.
Pain-san opened his mouth to speak.
"Your Majesty the King. Thank you very much for giving us your valuable time."
"It's fine. This is an important matter not only for our country, Arcus, but also for this world. Hence, it could probably said that it's only natural to spend time for this."
Then, King Bernst's gaze pierced me. My spine shivered at the King's piercing eyes.
"Are you the Yuusha."
"Ye, yes, King-sama... My, my name is Relix."
Although I knew that I had to do it properly, my heart's palpitations were so intense that I couldn't control my mouth. It seems like my mind is gradually turning white.
Pain-san sent out a helping hand at me who's clearly disturbed.
"Your Majesty. Yuusha-sama was just a villager who knew nothing until a few days ago. Please forgive him for his lack of some courtesy."
"I can also understand that much. I'm not going to meticulously care about the courtesy of the person destined to save the world. Because from a standpoint, I should be the one kneeling instead."
Destined to save the world --- I was surprised to hear the words of the King.
I have to eventually fight with the 'Demon King' who is a threat to the world. Even though he is a King of the nation, he can't accomplish such a big task just by shaking his shoulder.
"Because I'm in a position of a King, I can't easily bow my head to a person. But, I will ask you to forgive my rudeness as well."
Hearing the King's words, the trembling of my body gradually subsided.
'According to the legend, the Demon King possesses an unequaled strong power. Which enough to lead the world into ruin if left unchecked.'
I tightly put my strength into my fist.
"--- Yuusha Relix. Are you prepared to fight against the Demon King?"
My trembling unknowingly stopped at that question.
Unconsciously, my mouth opened to speak.
"... If that is my destiny."
I was chosen by God. Then, according to that destiny, I must defeat the Demon King. I can't stay immersed in the mood of a villager forever.
The King nodded at my determination.
