I was led by Priest to Maliks fathers office. His father seemed to play both sides of the field by being apologetic to me. I mean he took the chance to inform me of my ex boyfriend who was a dick wasnt worthy of me. But hopes Olivia would get what exactly she searching for. When I sat down to actually take in his look I knew Malik got his looks from him and the mentality as well. I'm glad nothing of Olivia rubbed off on him. The guard step back to head to the door entrance before he left us alone. My throat began to get dry as I felt the more we spoke on Maliks mom the heat would get off me.
"I'm sorry to interrupt but truly tell me the reason I'm here? I think if you truly wanted to know me than coming to your son house could be done earlier without the altercation that took place."
"Well aside the fact I may be a wanted man even we both know that wont happen that you can confess to one thing for me..."
"Ummm what might that be?"
I was beginning to get scared of what he might say. I hope he understood that I wasnt going to snitch. In all honesty it could've been seen as self defense. I pulled my gun out my purse that my dad taught me how to shoot. I never fired it on anyone but I always kept it loaded. I placed it on his desk as he chuckled.
"I see my son got him a gangster."
He chuckled snapping his hand alerting his guards as they join in laughing.
"Look Yasmin just tell me that you wont open your mouth about who that property belongs to. Because it cant lead to exposure. See that land belonged to my oldest brother Kenny before he deceased and been in the family for years. Now I have leverage on Olivia is the reason she wont open her mouth about it or ever tried to get it and now your my son's girl none of this need to be out. If you do you'll open a can of worms."
I replayed the night I was home looking over the property. Seeing the lands information before making a step in the direction to get an inspector to check the site out. It did say the owner deceased still I didnt need to search for the fact most of the work was done for me. He told me to follow him as the guards helped me stand up asking that I put up my gun for dinner. The guard alerted us that dinner would be held in dining room 1. I thought to myself how big this house must be with more than one dining room. He walked with me side by side before telling me a little about Malik. Every word was to down play his manhood about how Olivia spoiled him over the years. Than he asked about my personal background. I gave him the same lines I gave a interviewer. Nodding his head we reach the dining room. I sat down as the food was being served. Being big I was truly starving on the inside. When we sat Malik grandma said he'll be down shortly to go ahead and eat without him. I than ask to say the grace as his grandma gave me a devious smile.
"Well if you insist."
"No need for the hostility ma am I'm just being kind."
"Kind is what got you pregnant."
"Enough ma. Now Yasmin please say the grace."
After I said the grace she watched me as the guards spoke. When we all were about full she got up to get dessert as everybody began asking me questions about Malik. I could gather that its been years since he's been home. When Malik walked inside the room everyone got quiet when his red eyes scanned the room. His obnoxious laughter told me he was drunk as his father dropped his head in silence. There was a table for 8 with 6 seats filled. He went to sit by his grandmother chair at the end of the table before avoiding our eye contact. She returned placing the apple pie on the table hugging him tightly.
"Lik Lik I made your favorite."
"Thanks grandma I- I appreciate it."
"Malik excuse yourself from the table right now so I can holler at you."
"Naw I'm good."
His father jump up rushing towards him before he grabbed him by his shirt and Malik pulled away. Quickly he was punched in the face dropping to the floor out cold with blood oozing from his nose in the process. His grandma sat and watched. I began crying seeing Malik in pain rushing over. I couldn't bare anymore stress when I felt myself getting light headed. His grandma told me to sit and breath. She opened the nearest seat telling me to sit. Staring in her eyes she got a wet cloth placing it on my forehead. Telling me to countdown with her to help my breathing. Slowly I smiled feeling my anxiety calm down. Malik was sleep on the floor and his father was telling the guards to get him in a cold shower when I became aware. His grandmother was sitting by me apologizing.
"I'm sorry young lady for letting them stress you like that. It's was bound to happen thats why I didn't stop it. See they both alike but my son from streets. And my grandson need to stop testing him and drinking that alcohol. How long he's being doing that again?"
"After we broke up but mostly when he is stressed its like a coping mechanism. I dont know what will make him react that way right now."
"Are you sure about that because my grandson is in love with you. But him putting up a fight against his father is the wrong answer. Little do you know its been a issue that started when he was in college. Where he stopped going to class and would drink everyday shortly after finding out his mother and father were at each other throats and he was in the mix. So please fix it because it'll be a few more years before he comes back."
"Wait a minute why didnt he come back all this time that not enough of a reason to not want to come home?"
"Because Olivia kept him away when she had a affair. And the fact my son could possibly tell information about her to his son that he don't know about. Okay truth is Trey is his blood brother aside from being his best friend. Your family now is the reason I'm telling you but you keep that to yourself you hear?"
I shook my head because I wanted to love Malik past his pain. Still I saw that if it weighs on him now later on when the baby is born he wont be the father our child needs. I will and won't expose our child to that type of behavior. Rehab seem to be more important than I thought. He still aint the only one hurting because Trey was lacking the love he may always had needed.
