I was at the rehab location waiting to get a visit from Trey so he could come to my intervention with the in-house therapist. For some reason, my therapist wanted to meet him so badly after I reflected on one of my many strengths to be in the facility. Honestly, Yasmin and the baby truly were the reason I'm doing it but I knew Trey would be the only one to show. I still felt like shit inside going through that fallout being humiliated. I thought about how every night since how Yasmin was making me feel. Then in the day, I had to cope as a man to face the reality of my situation. I stared out the window before sitting on a couch to grab the smart tv remote to take a seat when I began flipping through the channels. I looked to my left to see a man staring at me as he played it off. I went on to youtube to search for my old artist Streetz to do his live interview. Listening I was amazed at how well he was doing and how he was becoming more recognized. Then my mother and Kevin popped up holding arms speaking on Streetz's new work in the video. The guy from across the room came and sat on the other side of the couch I was on before focusing on the tv taking a straw he was chewing out his mouth.
"I know I recognize you from somewhere shes your mom right? But if that sorry ass nigga right there is fucking your mom just know he full of shit bro."
My head cut to face him as he got up to walk off. I followed him as he headed to the gym area. He lifted the dumbbells a few times before I asked him how he knew Kevin. It was crazy for someone to be all the way out in North Carolina even speaking on this punk. After he placed them down after a few more reps he handed me an id. I look at it and handed it back still clueless.
"Bro I don't get it."
"Kevin is my blood brother. I got in the drug game messed with my product got addicted and I'm here. But there came a point where if my paperwork was signed I could be home. Instead, he made our parents extend my stay for the next 2 years as well as disown me."
"Damn man sorry to hear that. My name Malik by the way."
He extended his hand before introducing himself.
"Well, I'm Brandon they call me Bricks."
I walked off after being called by one of the workers. Curious as to how much history I could get off Bricks about Kevin. Maybe it could be enough to put him away or out of my misery if that. I was tired of my life revolving around him. And with the help of my mother, it wasn't making it any better. When I made it out the door frame he hollered out to me to stay away from Kevin. I took into account the information he was giving me. As a man though I wasn't going to back down.
"Hold up what's your deal with him you got the look on your face when I mention his name to you" he yelled.
"He ruined my life by sleeping with my mother. As well as almost harming the love of my life his ex-fiance Yasmin."
"See that nigga on one and he going to get he believe that. And tell Yasmin I said hello she may not remember me but I know she's a good girl man."
It was crazy I meet someone who was kin to Kevin therefore he could be leverage in the future. Today I was going to hang out with Trey being free from this place for a while I turned around to go get Bricks thinking about his situation. When I told him he could come he denied it. Then I told him we would just relax at least he'd get to see some ass or get some pussy before he came back. Without hesitation, he hurried to grab his belongings.
Getting in the car Trey suggested we go to the mall where we could get fresh. I eyed what I and Bricks had on before agreeing I need to. Bricks mentioned he didn't mind but all his funds were taken away from him so he got his food and hygiene stuff from the state. In the parking lot headed inside Trey told me to run the card up. Bricks were eyeballing all the woman's bodies before I told him we'd get lucky before leaving the mall I assured him. The door entrance bell chimed once we entered Champs. The cashier's eyes roamed to us before she asked if we needed help and I agree to choose some Jordans a yard away. Trey walked the opposite way. I watched Bricks sit on the aisle seat just looking around. Picking up a pair I asked what he thought some J's followed by me asking him if he wanted something. He said no staring at some times when I asked his size before calling the cashier attendant over to get me the Jordans and him the Timbs.
"No bro don't do that I'm good."
"Man your not good you seem like a cool nigga. Think of it as a down payment to your freedom."
"What you mean?"
"Don't worry about it just let me handle things."
Strolling to the cashier counter Trey appeared behind us coming from the other side of the store when he pulled me aside at checkout asking me why would I spend money on this guy I barely knew. I told him that he didn't have shit compared to me. And that I felt like I made a friend being behind those walls in that facility. Brushing it off the cashier rung everything up and we grabbed our bags to head out. Reaching the food court two girls were in front of us laughing and joking when one looked familiar. I jogged a little bit ahead of the guys to get in front of them.
"So you just gone walk in front of me and not speak I ask her."
The one girl laughed as the other sucked her teeth folding her arms across her chest.
"Well kicking me out of your bed without a phone call or nothing isn't a good look for you in my eyes. Now move out our way we gotta meet our friends."
"Shit I got a friend we could be friends like old times. I mean you damn sure know how to make a nigga feel good. But I got to be real with you I'm not with her we just working things out for a baby we're having. So let's chill again soon no bullshit. Oh yeah this my boy Bricks I said introducing him.
The other girl walked over to Bricks rubbing his chest. I was still pleading with Kima as Bricks and her homegirl got acquainted. Trey was on the phone passing us by talking when he told me he had to drop us off because it was the first visit so our hours weren't long. Kissing Kima on the cheek I told her I'd be at my brother Trey's house tomorrow so come visit. Exchanging information we all headed out the mall going our separate ways.
