Chapter 6 - chapter 6

Amaris POV:

I'm not positive what just happened but I'm pretty sure it's gonna change my life.

As soon as my dad got inside he went up to his study calling me and Aspen after him

"Amaris, you are going to become part of the pack and then mate with Jackson"

Eww. I grew up with Jackson he's Aspens friend, he may as well asked me to marry Aspen himself

"No!"

"What, you must listen to me I am your father!" He declared

"And I'm not sure you've ever met me. You want me to say it again? No. What about in German, nein."

"Just listen to him Amaris, he's our alpha" Aspen whispered to me

"No! And he isn't my alpha at least not yet"

"The Black Alder pack can not do anything if you already have a pack and mate!" Dad countered "when you return from school tomorrow you will become part of the pack!" He ordered "until then I must set up the ceremony and prepare for war" he dismissed us

As soon as we were out of the door I grabbed onto Aspen's arm and ya led him into my room

"What ceremony?" I questioned as soon as I was on my bed

"Huh? Oh it a tradition, once a wolf first shifts the following day they have a ceremony to become part of the pack that is where the alpha, dad bites your wrist then his own then you, like put them together he says a buncha word you say something along the lines of 'I will' then your pack. It's really cool you get to talk through each other's minds and everything" he explained

Well, that was it, it gives me less than 24 hours to plan my escape because there was not a chance in hell I was going to be forced into something I don't want.

Beep! Beep! Beep! My alarm blared waking me from my dreamless state. Today's the day! I thought I'd feel more scared or at least a little sad I was leaving my family. Well damn. I quickly hopped in the shower, got dressed and then put on my favourite hoodie; once zipped up I looked like the robes from Harry Potter, Gryffindor of course. Then grabbed my black rucksack which had my entire college fund and 5 spare sets of clothes, and headed downstairs. I made sure to act as calm as possible, spooking mum, grabbing some food and kissing dad. I even went as far as starting to leave in the car before Aspen got there, boy I was going to miss the little idiot.

We sat in silence the entire car ride, right up until we reached the schools parking lot the Aspen final broke

"I'm going to miss you" he gave me a weak smile "I know we haven't gotten on the best since I first shifted but you were always there for me when I needed you. I'm not even going to attempt to talk you out of leaving"

"How'd you know?" I questioned my brother wasn't the dumbest teenager I'd ever met but he wasn't exactly Sherlock Holmes either

"I know you, I know your rucksack doesn't even have a toothbrush in it but would bet you remembered at least your PSP" he laughed a hopeless laugh "I'm not the biggest reader but last night I tried and the best help I can give you is go north all the way into the mountains and try to find this sanctuary place, I'll throw dad off your sent and tell him you were talking about nana all the way to school, but try not leaving a trail he's will have his best trackers on it" a tear rolled down his cheek and it was only then I noticed a few had escaped from mine as well

"Love you"

"I love you too, Amaris just be careful k?"

"Ok" and that was it he left the car and I was headed north, I'm lucky he told me cause I was totally headed for nana's before he said anything.

As I was driving up a back road toward the mountains my car began making this clanging sound repeatedly. Then suddenly the car slowed to a stop. What the hell! What kind of cliche is this, teen runaway is stuck in the middle of woods cause car broke down and then the father finds her. Crap, there is no way I can let him find me. I knew nothing about cars and I was pretty sure I wouldn't get a tow truck up here

"Well, guess it on foot from here," I said to myself in and threw up my arms in exasperation, grabbed my bag then started to hike through the woods.
