Chapter 2 - Suspicions (1)

## Suspicions (1)

### Narration - Author thoughts:

Suspicion ends in -cion, many words with the same sound end in -sion or -tion (the shawn sound: suspension or intussusception).

### POV Georgick

I had time to ponder my most recent conversation. I wonder about the memories of my life and my awakened previous life memories. The maid like butler never introduced herself by name, only identified as a servant for my fiancee. After I struck my neck with that knife, I remember seeing a woman running to me before I went unconscious. That woman should be my fiancee.

After our conversation, I decided that some sleep would be good for my health after this hectic day.

I look out the window from my bed, it's dark. I look at the tablet on the tray stand, someone plugged the device in. The occasional green led flash on my tablet let me know the device was charged or maybe it means I have a notification, I am not 100% sure. I took hold of the device, looking at the time on the lock screen. 6:13 pm with the date December 21st, 2020. I set the device back down.

My memories let me know that I am in Alaska. I know the sun disappears by 4 pm, and it seems someone left the window open. The clothing I am wearing is too thin for this to be an accident if I am to be honest, but I also have an electric pad underneath me to keep me warm.

I find a peanut butter jar next to me, and that is when I notice I am hungry. I open the lid and see someone drew the outline of a heart in the peanut butter. I don't really have a reason to believe the food is poisoned.

After eating 3 fingers worth of peanut butter, I close the jar. Today is supposedly my birthday as I turned 18 today, but based on the actions so far I do not feel like it is. I do think about something that was mentioned in my talk that was then avoided for a moment. When I look at retrospect to when I was very small, my mother died right after she told me about my talent. I remember when I was very young, people would call me worthless and should be kicked out of the family for wasting resources from the family. In reality the amount of resources that food consumption would cost to raise a potential mage for the family is a joke. I am still confused why the family would give me away to Raeturn family, even if I had zero talent in magic. I once heard that both of my parents were reclaimed mages. My father had our family's dimensional magics of spatial and pressure while my mother had the very rare rare healing and life non-elemental magics.

Now that I think of it, it does not make much sense that both of my parents died. My father died, but the news of his death was kept secret until my mother died. My mother was 6 months pregnant, and the idea was that the family would keep the secret of his death until she gave birth to make sure our enemies would not kill her. However, because she died to poison it should prove that someone betrayed the family. This is also where I am not completely sure who to trust either. Well, this must be one of those reincarnation stories where the main character has a system, use gacha, and has a gold finger that finds treasures.

"Status, system, self, analyze, main menu, help, inventory, equipment, gacha, assist, open, roll..."

'This isn't getting anywhere.' I then tried the same commands, but in my head.

'Status, system, analyze, help, inventory, equipment, map, main menu, commands, console, turn on, open, power up, help, help please? read message, assist, buy, store, shop, gacha, soul shop, perks, perk menu, titles, karma, karma shop, karma usage, what is my karma, balance check... Still not doing anything... Library, download, anime, reincarnate, human, vampire, re-spawn, warp, list warps, warps, set home...' Maybe I don't have a system then.

I've spent a few minutes playing around trying random words and combinations. I even tried commands that you might use on a server game like kits and list warps...

'I might as well try something more constructive.'

I ended up thinking about everything I know about magic.

'I will think about previous events later, I actually am partially excited about magic, not that I totally believe in it considering that I have 52, uh, 53 years of experience that says it is fake due to science. I also have 18 years of experience that says it is probably real according to others. The way my mother made it sound when I was young, I was going to be the next messiah if magic is something that does exist. Let's say for a moment that in this world it is real, the first magician would have learned everything from no knowledge or starting point. Maybe I could do the same. Or maybe I will explode and die. I know in a fanfic I've read practicing magic before your magic core matures can lead to losing your magical ability, and if there are magical bags, cores, center, or something in this world then as an 18 year old I should be magically mature; I mean, I don't need to convince myself... I'll just, you only live once, YOLO it.'

So I continued to lay on my bed, warmth going into my back from the electric heater. I thought about zen, meditation, and breathing in mana from the air, little particles of mana, through my nose, hold, out my mouth. I imagined the absorbed mana from my nose being stored in my brain. They say noses can filter everything bad out of the air, why not absorb mana too? I felt a yawn from my deep breathing then when my ears popped I think I passed out or fell asleep.

### December 22nd, 2020

I woke up, checking my phone it said the time was 3:08 am and the date now was December 22nd, 2020.

I don't know why I fell unconscious, maybe I was just tired, but I'll continue to try what I was doing before I fell asleep. I once again started to deeply breath in air through my nose. At some point I imagine breathing in winter mint, the cool frisk air of Alaska. I didn't know but the edges of my room was starting to freeze. The room was already cold from the open window and a cup of water that I wasn't aware of froze over. Metal on my bed froze, and the air in contact with the metal condensed some liquid.

I fell unconscious once again.

When I woke up for the third time, I saw a box in front of my eyes. The magical box that I thought I already ruled out. I have said every command I could think of.

'Maybe it is not a command?'

I tried to close the box.

'dismiss, close, shoo, read, next' The blue window was staring back at me.

###### Foundation: Ice manipulation level 1

That word foundation threw me for a loop. That word specifically was very familiar to me. I have played a game called 'Resident Rampage Resource Resist Royal Responsibility' and was code named 'Hostel and Resource Simulator' by their developers, it introduced a new genre called 8F that would describe how future games would be played. It was a simulator game that was inclusive to many ideas you could read in novels. They ended up creating 8 categories, all starting with the letter 'F' like zealots responding to their god given mandate. Each Category has a tree that has more unlocks, with the currency from Finance, calories/energy from own body/foundation, or intent from fighting.

### 8F Categories

The categories being: Forts, Finance, Farms, Factories, Factions, Faith, Foundation and Fighting.

Forts: The starting building that acts as the heart of the game. You can build a new fort if destroyed, claim another structure as your new fort whenever, or move the entire structure using any means. However, all other functions' primary usages are locked until you possess a fort.

Cooldown: 6 months, to add an additional claim. Remaining cooldown doubles if you lose a fort during original cooldown, limit: 1 time per cooldown. If you are on cooldown and you lose your last fort you will receive a second cooldown double (essentially quadrupling the base cooldown from when the first double happened minus twice the measured time since then).

Finance: This aspect of the game allows the creation of 'void devices' that gathers energy from the void. You can turn void energy into matter or vice versa. You can not turn void energy into energy directly. You can only turn matter into void energy when it is the same ambient temperature and pressure as the void device or vice versa; which means you can not create ice unless the ambient temperature of the void device is below freezing.

Cooldown: none; dependent on resources and construction.

Farms: This aspect upgrades farms and animal husbandry for example ranches and training. Crops level 0: 0.1% harvested resources added to inventory (does not effect harvest). Give statistics to nearby farms, which include soil, water, nutrient, and nearby resources plus information to crops added to the database. Consume raw product to gain information related to specific crops.

Cooldown: 3 acre can be added per week.

Factories: This aspect upgrades machines, output, research, and technology. Research and technology requires an actual person to research, but the aspect gives a direction for faction members to subconsciously look while researching. Information related to specific crops may be used in alchemy factories (see farm aspect).

Cooldown: dependent on faction rank, foundation cooldown, faith bonus, finance bonus, and other bonuses that can apply.

Factions: This aspect can recruit others onto your team. You can push corruption across multiple people instead of concentrating only on oneself. Individuals who join your cause can contribute energy, faith, and karma for you. Faction members gain a basic foundation aspect based on faction rank and foundation multiplier. A percentage of data obtained can be used in other aspects for host or others (foundational multiplier times 1% of eating produce fills in database for alchemy and crops). A farmer in a faction can claim more land when they work on each acre (each person foundational multiplier times 1% and each additional person for each acre additionally adds together to claim a new acre, does not effect host cooldown).

A farmer in faction can claim more land when they works on each acre (1% each day for each acre for each member adding 0.1% bonus to every additional stack per day, uses triple for cooldown but will be added to a list )

Cooldown: 1 person / 3 days.

Faith: You gain faith from others who believe in you. Foundation dao from oneself can be used to deify dao aspect. You can spend faith like it's water, but it corrupts the soul based on the believers. Faith corrupts fate itself changing luck to benefit the host. Faith can upgrade and replace the cost of any other energy, replace a drop of energy with a river of faith. Upgrades can limit who is automatically added, however whitelist/bypass and blacklist are interchangeable and using a whitelist/bypass uses a blacklist cooldown.

Decay: 1% daily.

Cooldown: blacklist/filter 1 person / day

Foundation: The foundation to everything is yourself. This aspect upgrades through your own hard work. You can use, store, operate, and release any type of energy. Chemical energy from calories is the base for all other aspects. To turn sugar into chemical energy requires oxygen. There is an upgrade that allows the conversion of created carbon dioxide and water to turn directly into void energy.

Cooldown: will power and mental concentration of host

Fighting: You gain fighting intent, killing intent and killing karma from fighting and killing. You gain killing karma from commanded and faction kills at 0.5 and 0.1 respectively. You can spend these as resources for other functions. Multiplier is based on the larger of either soul size or relative combat rank compared to average non-combat human. For example martial arts casuals 1.5, male lion 4.5, hippo 4.0, female lion 3.5, shark 3.5, sting ray 3.0, and inlan taipan 8.3 due to it's poison. Accidental or area of effect only give 1% intended rates. Plants and creatures without a consciousness receives 10% combat multiplier and nothing if below a tenth combat multiplier.

Cooldown: 5 fighting intent, 5 killing intent, and 5.0 killing karma / 5 days.

### 6:25 am

The screen was not disappearing. When I was frustrated and waived my hand to fling it away it did.

'Eh?'

It was when it clicked, I have been trying to use verbal and mental voice commands to operate some theoretical system. However, when I used my willpower with the intent to dismiss the window, it did.

I had to think, how do you use your willpower with the intent to open something that you don't know what it is? Well, if this was what I think it is... I imagine that I was playing the game 6R-HRS and pressed a keybinding with the intent for the 'F' key to open my forts menu. I cycled through all the keybinds: 'f', 't', 'p', 'b', 'c', 'h', 'i', and 'x'.

###### Forts: not activated. Cooldown: ready.

###### Finance: not constructed.

###### Farms: not activated. Cooldown: ready (3 Acres per 7 Days).

###### Factories: not activated.

###### Factions: not activated. Cooldown: ready (1 Person per 3 Days)

###### Faith: not activated. Cooldown: ready (Filtering 1 Person per 1 Day).

###### Foundation: Mage (1) { mana (12), composite manipulation (1) { ice manipulation (2), elemental(0), yin-yang(0) }, dimensional (0) { spatial (0), pressure (0) }, non-elemental (0) { healing (0), life (0) } }

###### Fighting: 0 FI, 0 KI, 0.0 KK. Cooldown: ready (5 FI, 5 KI, and 5.0 KK per 5 Days)

I knew I had many things to think about. The first objective needed to be factions, as it is the easiest way to expand with my situation where I will probably be locked on house arrest, not that it is any different from before. Maybe I should bring up the need to visit farms or the farmers on the farms. I could also advise the information on farms that I claim and say it's limited knowledge from my other memory. I hear sounds of footsteps from the distance, someone should be visiting me momentarily.
