As the night progressed, I learned that besides auctioning the paintings and the other artifacts, there was a long-standing tradition that the charity organizers implement each year. They would auction the girls who were willing to participate, the prize would be a dinner date for one night.
Nathan was whisked away again by another investor of his company. I could not stop him from leaving my side since he needed all the support of his guests to make this fundraising successful. All I could do was wait till he got back. Fortunately, Elena was at my side to keep me company.
"How did my name even got listed?" I speculated as Elena tried to convince me that it would be fun to join the program.
"Somebody from the organizers must have nominated you," Elena explained. It was a common practice based on her. Her first time to join, she was also hesitant, but her mother insisted that she joined it. She did not have much choice on the matter then.
