Chapter 21 - Crystal Snake

With Saisako healed they continued forward in the maze making their way as they ran into multiple monsters along the way. In this process, Saisako managed to level up 3 times during the long winding maze though Arcin had not really accomplished much during this time. Eventually, they got to the end of the maze and ended up in the boss room of the floor. The room was large and covered in crystals there were a few holes. After entering the room it wasn't long till a large monster appeared.

[Crystal Snake Lv. 14 HP 132,136/132,136]

As per its name, the snake was covered in crystal scales its red eyes looked down on the duo, Saisako looked over at Arcin. It was understandable after all she was going to have to fight that thing alone in order to level up. "Don't look at me as if you're hard come by. We came here for you to level up. You'll be in trouble if we go to locations that will match with me so you need to level up first. If I do all the fighting you gain a very little experience and learn nothing. You'll be fine I'm here if anything goes wrong. Plus you can use magic it will be stronger than my weapon for the most part." Arcin sighed rolling her eyes.

Saisako let out a huff clearly annoyed. The Crystal snake began to hiss at the two of them though they both just looked at the snake with annoyance. Arcin and Saisako looked up at the snake with an annoying look. "How rude we are talking here and you interrupted us." Arcin huffed glaring at the snake. Saisako then huffed in agreement tail twitching slightly.

Saisako begun to glow and lunged at the Crystal Snake and bite down into the snake's corrosive poison begun to trail down the snake's scales as the smoke begun to rise from the snake's scales as Saisako began to melt them slightly. She had changed her element to acid. Though not super effective against earth it worked well as making an opening in the crystal scales for her to use.

The Snake whipped around trying to shake Saisako off. Saisako lost her grip and when flying in the sky. Arcin jumped up and caught Saisako right before she got impaled by a crystal spike, Arcin landed back on the ground place Saisako down. "Good job, use acid to destroy the crystal scales, then when you create a large enough opening use water or calamity on the wound/opening you created using speed to avoid its attacks. You would be able to do a fair amount of damage. I'll be here making sure you don't get killed for fighting a monster above your current level. But just to prevent your death." She replied in a casual tone. Saisako glared at me a clear look of you jerk mixed with you are an asshole.

Arcin shrugged her as she leaned back against the boss room wall and shooed at Saisako for her to continue fighting. She held her weapon in her hand she begun to tap her foot against the wall. Saisako tail twitched in annoyance that Arcin wasn't doing anything but couldn't really complain since it was her own fault as if she actually trained even a little bit she wouldn't be this low of a level.

The snake slithered around along the ground it swung its tail on occasion shooting out blasts of crystals towards Saisako which she avoided with her speed. Saisako jumped onto the back of the snake and elementally shifted to Acid as the markings on it turned purple. Doing this was extremely dangerous since Acid was weak to Earth however it was very useful in destroying the crystal scales to create an opening for her.

Saisako opened her mouth and a glow of purple begun to appear before she shot it towards a large area on the snake's back. The snake hissed from the slight pain it felt as the acid began to burn its scales but damage wise it did very little. The acid trailed down its back for a will the smoke was rising up from it all the while. destroying enough of the scales Saisako changed her element quietly the marks turning a dark purply-red colour indicating she was using the calamity element. Arcin could feel the shift of the energy that happened when Saisako did that.

Saisako dug her claws into the open flesh before biting into its back. The snake writhed around trying to throw her off. It curled its tail up and around Saisako. It pulled Saisako back off its back tarring out a large chunk of flesh. Throwing Saisako into the wall it then made its way over to one of the many crystals that were in the wall. It wrapped its tail around the crystal and snapped it off. It then opened its jaw and ate the crystal. The moment it did that it regained some health and scales.

Arcin tapped the end of her staff against the wall as she watched the scene unfold in front of her. 'I should get rid of the crystals so this doesn't take forever.' Arcin thought as she pushed off from the wall and spun the staff around her hand. She jumped up and destroyed most of the crystals but not before it ate another crystal. "How annoying, but I believe that Saisako can deal with it now." she sighed stretching her arm.

Saisako was annoyed her tail flicking and twitching in annoyance. She looked up at the ceiling above and noticed the stalactites. She huffed and led the Crystal Snake to the area that had the most number of stalactites. The snake hissed at her as to bring the snake over Saisako took out one of the snake's red eyes getting its aggro right on her.

When the snake was in the range of the stalactites she sent a blast of calamity magic at them and cut them from the ceiling. The stalactites cracked and fell from the ceiling pricing the snake causing it to let out a screech, blood flew in the sky the moment it happened. In the moments over 90% of the health bar fell as many of the snake's internal organs were pierced and damaged. Saisako didn't miss a beat and sent a blade of calamity energy at snake's head cutting it off killing it in an instant.

'Wow, that was a very quick boss fight. I guess a little lacklustre too. But at least it's dead but next is the boss of the dungeon. So at least Saisako levelled up and we got a number of items from it too so it wasn't that back. But Saisako is much more capable than I expected which overall is a good thing.' Arcin thought grabbing a number of crystal scales, and the snake's fangs before the snake's body disappeared.

She looked over at the newly opened stairs that lead to the next floor. She felt odd energy coming from the stairs it was slightly chilling and in best words gross and choking. "We'll rest here than descend. I don't know why but I have a bad feeling, so I'd rather us be held up." Arcin explained looking at Saisako who had no complaints in the slightest.
