I had woken up from a relatively normal dream with my hair in my face. When I was younger I always wanted a different hair color hair but now it's a beautiful red. So I brushed my hair out of my face and got out of my comfortable twin bed I had to, after all, I did have school. So, I got on my plain gray sweatshirt and jeans and walked out of my room to come into my kitchen. I had always hated this kitchen it was so plain with its whit counters, gray tiles, and white cabinets. I spotted a note on the counters. It read "Sweetie your dad and I won't be home until later so you're on your own for dinner. P.S there is some rice in the fridge if you want to do something with that,"
"Again gosh," I said out loud thinking about how this was the third night this weak that my parents had been working late. My parents are loving people don't get me wrong but sometimes I think they love their job more than they love me. I was late for school and didn't have enough time to mope about my parents. So I hoped in my older than time car which my parents call a dumpster though they still bought it for me to sugarcoat the fact that they're never home. During the drive to school, I got honked at twice (though I don't know why) and got laughed at by rich popular people who drives a fancy convertible. I got to my school, a brick one-story hell hole. In my school, you have the jocks, the popular kids, the nerds, etc. I think I fit with the nerds and I know it's like ooh she's nerdy, she's like those girls. but I'm not. Not to get too deep but I kinda lonely I mean I have friends but when I get home it's just me. I'm an introvert in a sense but I'm waiting for someone a special someone. I remember my 4th-grade teacher saying I have a vivid imagination so sometimes I get lost in thought thinking about the perfect person or as some people call it a soulmate but with my awkward stance on socialization I don't think that's going to happen.
I entered the front room and hit something hard. I got up to find a girl on the floor she was beautiful black hair and caramel skin she looked as though Aphrodite and Hebe had a child and just so happens to go to my school.
"I'm so sorry are you okay," I asked trying not to stare
"I'm cool thanks though. I'm sorry I wasn't looking where I was going," She said looking at me with her warm brown eyes. I helped her up and asked if I could have her number to which she responded sounding somewhat sad, " I don't have a phone sorry,"
Then, of course, stammering me decided to immediately ask for her email... and she said yes! So we exchanged emails and went on with our day though I forgot what happened in all my classes because I was thinking of the girl. It was right when I got home and immediately wanted to email the girl that I realized that I hadn't asked for her name like the gentlewoman I am. So I emailed...
Dear Stranger,
Hey, it's the girl you bumped into (not that I'm mad at you or anything). Just FYI the name is Sage. I thought it was weird that we don't know each other's names. This is hard I have been asked, "tell me about you" many times but I never know what to say, do I say things that I like or my personality. The thing is you'll never get a good understanding of me when I only write a paragraph because there are so many lairs to a person and their personality that it could not passably fit into one paragraph. That is my position on the enigma but I'll ask you something. What is your favorite color and why?
Your stranger,
Sage
Subsequent to sending the email I just sat there anticipating for the moment my phone would... "QUACK". I hear my phone notify me that an email has been received. I fumble for the power button but I soon pressed it to see the glorious email that had been sent to me
Dear Sage,
I've now been blessed by your name and would like to return the favor, my name is Nina. I agree that you can't learn much about a person through a paragraph. My favorite color would have to be yellow because of the fact that it signifies warmth but also can mean cowardice. The fact is that no one is perfect or all warmth and no cowardice so I just think it sums up how there are two sides to everything. What about you, what is your favorite color, and why?
Your Nerd,
Nina
As soon as I read the email I instantly started to think about how I could sound smart with my response. As I thought of what my favorite color was I came to the epiphany that this is my life and not a book where two people fall in love and they live happily ever after, this is my life and I just meet this girl. But I still replied to the best of my ability.
Dear Nina,
Thanks for the blessing that is your name, I really appreciate that. My favorite color would have to be red because of what you said about yellow and what it symbolizes. Like yellow, red can mean two things. Such as love and anger. I think these two things go together perfectly. In Greek mythology, Aphrodite and Ares are lovers though Aphrodite and Hephestis are married. Love is a battle needed to be won for some people and that's where war comes in. Lol I'm rambling and stuff
Love your stranger,
Sage
