Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight

Before the end of the day, the Kohoe messenger sent by their prime minister to investigate who Tang was did as he was sent. The second day, the information was later disclosed to the Kohoe prime minister after the messenger learnt of it. Though the messenger sent disguised as a common man to ask some Niyeye inhabitants without them knowing who he was. If the Niyeye inhabitant knew he was from Kohoe, they would ignore or rather put the hand together to beat him to death because the Niyeye disliked the Kohoe with passion, that could be noticed from the reaction of the Niyeye king when the Kohoe prime minister arrived at the festival with their army men. All the important information that needed to be known by the Kohoe was found out, and where those who defeated their army were from and the reasons they were in Niyeye. They also learnt that they were settling down in Niyeye. The Kohoe prime minister knew something was fishing out and he decided to have a clandestine meeting with the Yoe minister behind the closed door before he departed for Kohoe.

The following day after the ceremony. King of Niyeye decided to visit Jangogo at the blacksmithing workshop and the Yoe camp because he hadn't done so since they had built the camp. He also attempted to sojourn the place of Chuchu, the Kenne market head. When he arrived, Chuchu was surprised to receive the presence of the king inadvertently. Chuchu was an old man in his late 70's. He had held the position of the Kenne market head for the past two decades. He was one of the most respected men in Niyeye. Some people did sojourn his office to take pieces of advice. According to the stats released during last year in Niyeye, it was said that the three wisest men in Niyeye were the niyeye sorcerer, the Niyeye prime minister and chuchu were the three crown according to the king. Though there were many by far that can withstand their genius in thinking but weren't known like those three. Chuchu being the head of the Kenne market also had staffers working under him. He mostly gave directives to those working under him to execute. He did altercation among traders amicably, not only traders but also couples in Niyeye, though it wasn't his obligation but could he did spontaneously. When the king visited they had a petty discussion concerning the annual trading with the Yoe, how it went, how the prices would be set this year due to the rise in the value of horses, even though the Yoe came with copious horses, the salt and gold given in exchange this period was extra for a horse compared to the past. They also discussed the market emporiums and the increase in demand for emporiums in the market. After the festival, some merchants had decided to settle down in Niyeye with those that had been in Niyeye for years who later had enough capital to start a business were also requesting for emporiums in the market. They discussed everything and how they could be solved. Another thing they discussed was how the prices of goods would be controlled and chuchu informed the king of the need for a meeting between him and the minister for trading after their discussion was concluded. He accompanied the king to where his horse was till he mounted and he took his leave heading towards the Yoe camp.

The roadway was being cleared for the king as he was walking through the market mounted on the horse. The traders were seen bowing down there head like someone who wanted to use his mouth to remove something from the chest. The market was too congested which made it difficult for the horse to hop rapidly. The noise of the market didn't make him comfortable around them. That's what did make the king to reluctantly visit the market. The market had diverse sectors. Before chuchu could allow an emporium to a trader, he/she must visit him to discuss what he/she had to sell. Some sectors were traders selling silk, another sector were traders selling spices and other sectors were plastics, royal wears, books etc.

When he left the market he heads towards the Niyeye blacksmithing house. When he arrived, he saw Yon experimenting some works of Jangogo. The king had anticipated that Yon would be with either Jangogo or perambulating around Kenne market. So he wasn't surprised seeing her there. He just smiled when he saw her. Jangogo was in a sudoriferous mood as he was cooking some iron and the ones he had cooked, he was bending them with a very large hammer. The blacksmith workshop was a very large one. The interior part of the blacksmithing house was usually hot despite if there was cold. Jangogo disclosed to the king on his recent discovery and working towards making the dreamed weapon. The entrance of the house was very large with an iron door. Inside the house were different kinds of iron which were recently imported from the neighbouring kingdom, Deore. The Deore was endowed with iron materials which made them one of the highly respected kingdoms in terms of arms. In the blacksmith workshop, if care wasn't taken one could one's leg. When the king arrived he couldn't enter it because of the heat and the sharp objects on the floor which could pierce one shoe. The blacksmith workshop was large, different half-done arms which were to be sent to the palace after it was done were being arranged at one corner. At the entrance of the blacksmith workshop was a book where Jangogo was writing the codes on how the dreamed armour could be made. He had been writing and decoding from how he heard the sound of the Kohoe armour pounded away the Niyeye gladiator sword at the festival. The king commended him for the tremendous work he had been doing for arm department of Niyeye and pledge to remunerate him for his effort and if he could make the dreaded weapon, his rewards would be multiplied. Jangogo was a hardworking man who never let his pleasure for alcohol overshadow his passion to improve the arm department of Niyeye. Jangogo was also a great fighter who never boasted of his ability but rather committed to his blacksmithing work. His dream was to make the weapon that would match Kehoe's.

The king arrived at the camp of the Yoe. The camp was built on a large acre of land gifted to the Yoe by the King. The camp covers were white. With innumerable houses being built on the land. Their training ground was also there in the camp. Guards were everywhere as if it was a palace. Between the houses were narrow paths like an aisle where one could pass from one place to another. The only men in the camp where the merchants and the army men but the rest were the ladies they came with. Some had even married to the Niyeye. One of the Yoe plans was to continue reproducing so they could dominate and change the psyche of Niyeye men to support them since they had had a woman from their kingdom and used that to dominate and conquer Niyeye. But the way things were going it seemed like the plan wouldn't materialise, the Yoe would switch to plan B which was a short term plan. When the Niyeye King saw the camp, how large it was, he began to feel uncomfortable and remembered what one of his ministers told him concerning the Yoe settling down. The numbers of army men they came with were copious to call such settling down. The king became suspicious of the Yoe and their minister. The king began to think in his psyche the next line of action if he left the camp. He put himself together to feel comfortable in the Camp. What keeps running through his psyche was the vastness of the camp and the copious army men in the camp. He asked for where Tang was. He was directed to where he was. He also saw the merchants preparing and mounting goods on their camels.

Tang was down with the injury he sustained while fighting with the Kohoe soldier at the Niyeye festival fighting contest. He was lying helplessly on a joined sofa covered with red fabric. The side where his leg was were some ladies sitting down using hot water and a piece of thick fabric to nurse the injury. His face was seethed while the injury was being nursed. He was feeling the pain but didn't exhibit it. It could only be discerned by the way he was squeezing his face when the hot water touched the injury.

When the king saw Tang on the sickbed, he was perplexed! Everything he was thinking when he arrived the camp fade immediately. He was a very emotional person. He thought in his psyche that he was the one that put Tang in the condition because he was the one that demanded he should fight the Kohoe. He wasn't happy because he had pledged not to put any of his people in danger that's why he did lead the army men to with the generals. The king sent for a doctor immediately to attend to Tang. The Yoe minister was outside with the merchants arranging goods and preparing for their imminent departure back to Yoe. When he heard that the king was around he joined them immediately. The injury Tang sustained was too deep to heal effortlessly even though he was a very strong fighter. What made the injury to became worst was because when he sustained it, he didn't stop the fight but rather continued and fought till the sixth round until he won despite being injured. When the doctor arrived he attended to him and assured the king and the Minister that Tang would injury would be healed in no time after he had injected some cooked concoction into the injury. He told the king and others to allow Tang to have a rest in other injected concoction and for the medicine, he gave him to have a good effect on him. The king told the prime minister that he would wait till Tang woke up so he could go with him to the palace in other for him to be well taken care of since he wasn't departing with them to Yoe. The Yoe minister remembered he hadn't told the king of the changes in his plan to stay in Niyeye with the people of Yoe. When the Yoe minister disclosed the new plan to the king, he remained mute for some minutes, what he was thinking when he arrived at the camp took over his mind again. The prime minister noticed the king's reaction. Silent was looking for who would break him. The king broke the silence. They had a petty discussion as the prime minister was accompanying him to where his horses and guards were, though the prime minister noticed the shift in his mood immediately he told him he was staying back. Till king mounted on his horse, he wasn't himself. He was thinking along what particular reason for the Yoe settling down in Niyeye. He blamed himself for not even asking the reason they wanted to stay in the first place. His leniency would still be taken for granted, he remembered the favourite statement of the Queen. His guards noticed the change in his action. He also remembered what the prime minister told him after he welcomes the idea of the Yoe. Different thoughts began to run through his psyche. He later came up with a plan to monitor the movement of the Yoe minister. He arrived at the Palace and he was welcomed. He immediately called on the prime minister to discuss what happened during his outing and concerning what he noticed at the Yoe camp. The prime minister advised the king to send spies to the camp in lieu of someone who would monitor the movement of the Yoe minister as that could be used against the king that he didn't trust them if eventually the person spy was caught. But if the Yoe minister was caught red-handed they would be severely punished for treachery or any form of unlawful activity.

The Kohoe had kept an eye on the Yoe Camp since they had found out who they were, the reason why the Kohoe kept an eye on them was to find out their plan and the reason they established such a vast camp in Niyeye. The Kohoe prime minister did know of the might of Yoe but didn't know they did come to Niyeye until after the contest at the festival which made him do findings. He did of Yoe which was the equivalent of Kohoe in the east. He knew they were also great but wouldn't agree that they were greater than Kohoe. The Kohoe prime minister thought of poisoning the Yoe minister's psyche to unite and conquer all the kingdoms in the west. The same thought had been dwelling in the psyche of the Yoe minister too. The two of them had the same thought. But the Yoe minister was the first to think of that when he saw the way the kohoe soldier fought at the festival and how ireful the Niyeye king was when he saw them. When the Kohoe learnt that the king had left the camp, they decided to pay a visit himself to the camp to discuss with him. The Yoe minister was surprised when he saw the Kohoe prime minister, he received their presence with a full arm. The kohoe prime minister saw that he was willing to welcome him with the way he was smiling when he saw him. The discussion was lengthy and they disclosed their plans to each other. They decided to ally with each but would be confidential. The smile could be seen on both faces when they concluded their discussion. The prime minister decided to head back to Kohoe to inform the king of the new development.

There were various rumours in the kingdom concerning the Yoe settling down. The rumours burst out when the Yoe were seen preparing for their departure but only a few were preparing to return. The people in the Niyeye kingdom were seen in groups discussing the latest rumour. The shamans were spread throughout the kingdom giving sundry of revelation about the danger that laid ahead of Niyeye. The people weren't moving as usual but where seen in groups talking. The longer the rumour persists the longer it would stay and the wider it would spread. The rumours later reached the palace. The shamans were the one that even made it worst that the people began to murmur. The palace wasn't as lively as it did be. The king had been laid down with an illness. The shamans began to spread the news of the imminent disaster coming upon the Niyeye kingdom. The king illness began the following day he returned from the Yoe camp. The king's faces had been chopped off by some deadly-invisible insects. The news wasn't disclosed to anyone so as not to give rise to another widespread in the kingdom.

Weeks later, the shamans were seen spreading more news concerning the chaos coming upon the kingdom. The kingdom was gradually turning into a murmuring land. People began treading away from the kingdom. The illness of the king was disclosed by the shaman to the people. The people began to wonder why the king hadn't come to address the rumours in town, they believed what the shamans were saying. Some even said the king had died that they didn't want to disclose it yet. The grumbling began growing every day like a pregnant of four months. The news of Yoe settling down became the talk of the town. The Yoe were also feeling the heat of the rumour, the prime minister tightens the security of the camp. Kenne market wasn't as congested as before. The prime minister takes over the duties of the king and no one was allowed to see the king including the ministers except the prime minister. The Queen was also weakened by the deteriorating condition of the king. The Queen's eyes had swollen with tears flowing like rivers. The princes and the princesses weren't seen outside the kingdom, they were trying to escape the shame and crisis which the kingdom was battling with. The Yoe minister decided to visit but wasn't allowed to see the king. The news continues spreading like a fire that sees the water. Things were going from worse to worse. When the Yoe merchants departed it wasn't as they expected as they didn't even price any commodities from the Niyeye traders. The crisis continued to rise. The prime minister ordered for the arrest of all the shamans who were spreading the rumour of the king health and the imminent crisis around the kingdom. Anyone who was also seen discussing the rumours was also arrested. There was social unrest in the kingdom. Goods prices began to rise as the measure to use to control it weren't put in place since the illness of the king. The people began to demand the king's whereabouts. A week after King illness began, it also hit the King's first son, Muhu. His faces were also chopped off. The words of the shamans had begun to come to past.

The people of Niyeye began to clamour. Teeth were crunched in regret. The people began to demand King whereabout. The prime minister called on the people to disclose to them the king whereabout but he didn't tell them the truth. The people continue clamouring for the presence of the king. He was being questioned on the reason he allowed the Yoe to settled down. He was blamed for the crisis that was rising upon the kingdom. The population of Niyeye began to reduce. The condition of the king and Muhu began to deteriorate. The Queen was also weakened due to unending thoughts she had been having since the king illness, Muhu condition had made it worst.

The prime minister decided to have a tête-à-tête discussion with the king in his room where he was being nursed. Three doctors were with him for the past couples of days instead of the condition to lessen it was deteriorating. When the prime minister entered where the king was the doctors had to them. Then they had a lengthy discussion. Though the king couldn't talk much but could hear clearly.
