Chapter 5 - Chapter Four || At Lester's

Heyo, I'm Lester Bungee. Honestly, I dunno what to tell ya. Really, I'm not that special. Nah, okay, I'll tell ya. Here goes nothing...

I'm a sixteen-year-old who joined The SMC, Scientific Maths Club, three years ago, in seventh grade. My school's called Hughbeach High. Sounds fancy-pancy huh? I've got three sisters: Tilly, Ashley, and Polly. They're triplets. I'm the oldest.

I gotta say: I'm not the most popular guy at school. My best friend, my only friend, is Sonny Flint, the smartest and most silent boy at school. He's a bit of a sour apple.

(Ey, don't tell him I told ya, but he has this huge crush on Abby Dice. Who that is? A badass, gothic girl. That's all I can tell about her.)

Oh, no, wait, there's still her best friend, Chrissie. (Gotta say, she's not bad at all, if you know what I mean.) She's the only girl at school who never had been judgy, mean, or edgy towards me. (And her smile: da-shing!) Plus: she never ignored me.

Since I'm one of the "nerds", and teens are stupid, you'll probably guess the thing I'm gonna talk about right now: bullies. The most famous one's called Taylor Greyhound. (I call him "The Woof"). And unfortunately, his bite's much worse than his bark. Especially when it's about Sonny. Some people say that it's because Taylor laid his eyes on Abby, but no. I know the real reason...

Taylor hates games. That has to be it. I mean, come on, Sonny always wears game-merch. Mostly Mario. (And then they say I'm dumb!)

You know, there was this day at school when we, Abby, and The Woof had to make a Physics project together. Oh, my lasagna! We were frightened when our teacher, Mr. Helix (ahem... Goatee), announced that we, two geeks who can't even talk properly to their own reflection, had to team up with The Woof. Abby wasn't a problem for me. She didn't say much anyway.

But, well, that day, I saw Sonny pale and flinch, and Taylor smirk when Goatee had confirmed the teams. And so, our sleep got disturbed by Goatee and his amazing idea.

We didn't pay much attention to the rest of the lesson, though. But when the bell sounded, and after I packed my stuff, I probably did the stupidest thing I've ever done: I approached Taylor. "Dude! The hell?!" I heard Sonny hissing behind my back. I decided not to listen since it was also in his favor.

I stood behind the monster. I coughed nervously. "Ahem... Er, Tay-- Taylor?" I stuttered.

Taylor turned around. "What do you need, Lester-Fester?" he asked in his mocking tone using the shitty nickname he gave me. Since it rhymed, Sonny always said "a poet he is" with all of his sarcasm.

I knew I was gonna stutter again, so I deeply inhaled and quickly said in one breath: "I was wondering if you would come to my place after school to discuss our project?"

Taylor raised his eyebrow. "Tell me, buddy, why the heck would I?" By the way he crossed his arms, I could tell he'd punch me soon enough. (He couldn't care less if Goatee forbid him.)

Thankfully for me, a small figure appeared next to me. "'Cause I'm coming too, and so is Sonny, " Abby, luckily, interfered. By hearing his name, Sonny whipped around. When he saw us three looking at him, he slightly frowned. "Aren't you?"

Sonny looked at Abby, who expected an answer to her question. He blinked, a blush appearing on his cheeks. I faintly smirked. "Ye-- Yeah, sure. Sure, " he finally replied. I wanted to go and buy him a cake: he eventually spoke to Abby. It was about flippin' time.

Abby nodded and turned back to Taylor. He caught her rough glare and looked back at me with a sigh. "Fine, then. I'll be there, Bungee." He pointed at Abby. "But remember: I'm only doing this for you." He winked at her.

I felt Sonny boil behind me. He calmed down when Abby sarcastically answered: "Wow. I am deeply honored."

She gave me a small nod before turning away, to Chrissie. "Are you done so we can finally leave this awful class?" she complained.

"Miss Christina, " Goatee warned threatening.

Chrissie quietly replied: "Sorry, sir." She and Abby left the room, both laughing.

I snickered, but was snapped out of it by Sonny, who nudged my shoulder. "The heck did you just do? Now, we have to be in the same room as Taylor for what? Two hours? Or even more!" he ranted.

I raised my eyebrows. "Eyy, bruh, you should be happy. After today, it'll be done and we don't have to worry about it anymore." Sonny quietly sighed. I smirked. "And by the way, Abby's coming too, " I said in a teasing voice.

"Oh, shut up already, " Sonny answered frustrated. I giggled at him.
