Chapter 3 - A Freaking GT!

Two hours later, John prepared their bed in the living room, where the two siblings slept together on the mattress that John had laid down on the floor.

While John was in deep sleep, he didn't notice or didn't even know that something weird is happening inside him, which will change his life...forever.

"Snore!"

John was snoring with a huge smile on his face, clearly dreaming about something good, oblivious on the fact that a miraculous event is taking place inside his body.

The next day.

It was only five in the morning, but John had already got up from the bed in a groggy state as he stumbled towards the kitchen.

He cooked up some breakfast for him and Kylie before making his way out of the house with a fishing rod and lure box in his hands.

John headed towards the beach just a hundred meters away, facing their house.

Along the way, John is humming an unfamiliar song while thinking to himself.

'I hope a catch a lot today so we can have fish for lunch and dinner today'

The ocean could actually be considered as the siblings' life savior.

Why?

It's only because the ocean had provided them food during the past few years, which eased a little bit of the burden on John, and the money he had managed saved can be used for Kylie's future education instead, or it could be used in a rainy day.

John arrived at the beach where the waves is surprising calm and could barely reach his ankles. He placed his things down a little further away from the reach of the waves and fixed his rod, and placed a metal lure on it.

Aside from him, there were already two more people before him fishing on the beach, where he immediately recognized one of them.

There was a young man just less than a hundred meters away from John and talking to himself, if he didn't know any better, then John would have thought the young man has a few screws loose in his head.

With a combination of power and technique, John casted his fishing rod towards the water where it flew at least a hundred meters away from the shore.

"Andy is here again, he's really hardworking, isn't he? I wonder if his channel had grown big now since the first time we met here two months ago?" John mumbled to himself while looking at the direction of where the man named Andy is.

"Ohhh!"

John was a bit startled when he felt a tug on his rod, where he started to skillfully reel the fish towards him with the purpose of landing the fish on shore.

"Ohhh, I think this is a big one!" John smiled when he felt that the resistance had started getting heavy while the rod had slowly bent into an almost perfect C. So he quickly took two steps forward towards the water to reduce the pressure on the rod as he's afraid that it might snap into two.

"Oh my god! I think he hooked a big one!"

John heard a familiar voice shouting coming from his right, he threw a quick glance towards it, and saw Andy running towards him with a camera in his hands, pointing towards his direction.

"John! Is it a big one!?" Andy, who's around the early twenties said with excitement as he arrived and stopped beside him and continued to film John even when he was panting for air.

"Yeah, it's certainly is big, and I'm on edge cause I've never hooked something this big before" John smiled and anyone can feel the excitement in his voice. He would reel it in for a second, then slowly loosen his rod back down before pulling it back up again.

But then suddenly, John's expression change as he quickly loosened the drag on his reel and allowing the fish to swim away for the time being.

"What happened?" Andy said when he saw what John did.

John looked at him and said, "I felt like my line was about to break so I loosened the drag. I'll just tire it out rather than risk breaking it, especially when my rod is quite old"

Andy looked at John, he smiled and looked at his camera and said excitedly, "Dang! My boy here is really awesome! He always gets a lot of fish whenever I bump into him! Make sure to contact him if you happen to come here, I'll leave his details down in the comments"

Then twenty minutes or so later, whatever fish that was hooked had slowly stopped struggling, making John sigh in relief as there's barely a few meters left of his line and if the fish kept swimming away, then he would be forced to pull it in risking his line breaking and letting the fish slip away.

Andy also saw it and he excitedly yelled, "Quick, reel it in fast, so we can finally feast our eyes on what this monster fish is!"

John smiled and started reeling the fish towards the shore where it had become quite easy now that the fish is tired and wouldn't try to swim away anymore, so the only thing that he needs to do now is to quickly bring the fish to the shore as there's still a lot of risk in the waters, like a shark coming to take a bite.

A the seconds passed, the two men finally saw what it was and Andy's eyes immediately lit up when he recognized the silhouette of the fish in the water that he started screaming excitedly like he was the one who caught it!

"Holy sh*t bro! It's a freaking GT, and it's a monster!"

While John on the other hand has a huge smile on his face when he finally saw what it was and how truly big it is!

He sure was amazed that his old rod didn't snap into two trying to keep this monster hooked!

'This fish is Kylie's favorite! I'm sure she'd be really happy when she sees it!'

A GT is an abbreviated form given by anglers for a fish called Giant Trevally, also known as the lowly trevally, barrier trevally, giant kingfish, or ulua, is a species of large marine fish classified in the jack family, Carangidae.

John quickly walked over and picked up the fish by its tail while Andy kept filming him with a huge smile on his face, his eyes shining in excitement like a kid seeing a new toy.

Unfortunately for Andy, he can only catch three to six fishes every time he comes here, and they're only around six to eight inches and that's him fishing for a straight eight hours!

Sometimes, he wouldn't even catch one!

But it's understandable, as the young man barely knew how to fish two months ago, and if it wasn't for him meeting and sticking with John most of the time, then he wouldn't even have any decent contents for videos to upload on his channel.

John was just about to pull the fish towards the shore, when something mysterious or maybe the right word for it is weird... happened.

[You have caught a Giant Trevally!

Weight: 10.37 Kg]

'Uhh...what!?'
