Chapter 7 - Chapter 4: Strategy

Mika's P.O.V.

"Man. Why did I even choose this Grasshopper? Bet this won't be easy at all. Eh, it all happened anyway. Just fight to live. I ain't what I am when we first met the Evolved Abbysmal Rat. I mean, WE." I said as I looked at the Evolved Abbysmal Grasshopper, which was 19 feet tall.

"Goodbye, Mr. Grasshopper," I added as I smirked with intense killing intent.

I ran towards the Evolved Abbysmal Grasshopper, jumped high as I could, and went straight to punching with my left hand with medium force. As my hand landed on the Grasshopper's abdomen, it dealt no damage.

Or should I say, I just made the Evolved Abbysmal Grasshopper more angrier. Yikes. If medium force doesn't work with you, although it can already break like a big tree when augmented, then there's not a single reason for me to hold back, ain't it? Heh. This is going to be fun!

Devries said that Grasshoppers don't usually fight, since they are herbivores. But if it's an Evolved Abbysmal Beast, then it's a different story. From what Devries said, when an Evolved Abbysmal Grasshopper fights, it uses its legs to stomp the enemy down. It doesn't fight using anything, just its legs.

Furthermore, it spits an unknown liquid matter to itself for defense. That anonymous liquid has the ability to melt down metals. How will I be able to fight it, if I myself can't touch it? Hmm. Well, if it has not smitten on itself right now, maybe this is the best time to kill it, is it not?

"Here we go," I stated as I smiled.

I ran towards the grasshopper, punching the both of my hands at the same time creating a clanking of metal sound, since I wear a metal gauntlet. As I ran towards the said Evolved Abbysmal Grasshopper, my body was full of enthusiasm, and that enthusiasm made my body experience an adrenaline rush.

Hang on. Do I even have a plan? Devries stated to always have a plan when it comes to fighting. Without one, it will be next to impossible to win a battle, albeit you both have the same Power. How do I make a plan? Think, Mika. Think.

I stopped running and went back to my original place. If I'm going to make a plan, I should concentrate. I'm not like Devries or Renee that have the ability to make a perfect plan in the midst of a critical situation. If I remember correctly, stating a plan has 10 steps. The first one is to... I can't remember anythingggggg. This is gonna take forever.

Suddenly, a glimpse of Devries saying something went to my mind. The message was clear, yet it was translucent at the same time. What is he trying to say? Focus, Mika. If you want to win, you have to focus.

"There are 8 steps into making a plan. Let's get going already, I have 4 of you to teach. The first is to Commit to the Fight. If you want to win, commit to that mentality the whole time. Without a proper commitment to your mindset.... well, you finish the puzzle. Step 2 is to Focus on what you have to do. Land a punch. Avoid an attack. Create movements."

"You should be worrying about what you have to do rather than be worrying about getting hurt or other things. Don't give yourself too many things to worry about. It's really a waste of time/energy to worry about things that you cannot affect. Just attack, then move."

"Step 3. Breathe properly. Proper breathing techniques give you an advantage in stamina and power. Step 4. Walk, don't run. Running and jumping around wastes energy. Walking towards, away, or around your opponent will save lots of energy, exude confidence, and still make it easy for you to move in and out of range. If, you are in a limited space."

"Step 5. Never lose sight of your opponent or get your eyes hurt. This is drastic to a fight, since your vision is like your core. Without this, you'll easily lose. Step 6. Lean on your opponent. These tactics work well to wear the opponent out and let your enemy waste energy throwing punches with no leverage. The opponent will also be wasting energy trying to regain his balance."

"Step 7. Watch for the opponent's strong hand. Most fighters are one-handed or have one dominant hand that does all the damage. Pay attention only to that side and you will find that it's almost impossible for the enemy to hurt you. The same goes for enemies using weapons or other parts of the body."

"Step 8. Feint to the head β€” or the core β€”, and then go to the body. (ALSO VICE VERSA). So simple and effective every time. The more tense and out-of-control the fight, the easier this trick will work."

Hehehe. I thought there were 10 steps. I should really listen to what Devries is saying. Hmm. The more complicated it is, the more I will learn, and the more I learn, the more I get strong.

Okay. The first step, Commit to the Fight. Well, I already did that. Next step, Focus on what you have to do. Think I already did that. Step 3, Breathe Properly. How can I breathe properly? Easy. I need to inhale through my nose, and exhale through my mouth. I don't know why Renee said that, but... yeah.

Step 4, walk, don't run. Okayyyy? After all this time, I was doing wrong in every single thing? Better just do it, Mika. Complaining ain't gon' do nothing. But, Devries does say to only do this if I and my opponent are in a limited space. Step 5, Never cover your eyes or let your opponent go out of your vision. Well, if its vision were saying, I think I'm good at that.

Step 6, lean on your opponent. Since the grasshopper only stomps, and it doesn't have any other way to attack, I might not be able to use this. IF, we are talking about this fight. Step 7, watch for the opponent's strong part. Since it's a grasshopper, I only have to watch out for its deadly feet. Without those feet, it's impossible for it to win.

Lastly, feint to the head or the core. Now now now. Where is my opponent's core? Well, let's just hit it in the head. I'm 80% sure that its brain is located at its head. Head it is. But, there's one thing that I should stick in my head. Don't die.

I ran until I was near the Grasshopper and then went into running in a circle. I ran around the Grasshopper at a brisk pace for 1 and a half times, and when I was a the back of the Beast, I went straight into running towards it until it still hasn't noticed me yet.

"Combo Beast" I stated.

Then, I pushed it with my left hand with all my might. The Grasshopper was moved by 2 meters. I jumped towards it and landed a punch with my right hand.

"One!" I said. I repeated the same movements. "Two!"

...

"58!" I shouted. Sigh. Finally, you're dead.

It took 58 Push and Punches to kill you huh? What incredible vitality! Heh. At least I killed it. I wonder if they're all alive? Who am I kidding? If it's them, there's no doubt they'll survive in one piece!
