Chapter 4 - Confession

"I love you. Please go out with me." The boy said to the girl standing in front of him.

She had pale pink hair, long hair, azure blue eyes.

"I am sorry," The girl replied with an expressionless face.

"Why? Do you have someone you like?" the boy asked desperately.

"I don't."

'I do,' the girl said inwardly.

"Then why did you reject me?" the boy asked, seemingly wanting to know why he was rejected.

"I don't want to date anyone right now," the girl replied instantly.

"Then if you think about—"

"Can I go now?" She didn't even let him finish what he was saying and started walking.

After walking for a while, the girl quietly sighed.

'That was the forty-ninth confession of this week. This makes it the same as that Liz. Now I have to reject one more, and I will be the number one girl in this academy,' she thought to herself.

The girl was Ana, and after the incident, she had lost her memories. So every boy in the academy who had hots for her started confessing to her, thinking she might accept them.

Ana walked to her room and opened the door. All the students in the room started chattering as she entered, but Ana paid no mind to them.

She walked to her desk and sat there as she sighed. Soon after, a girl with long black hair and a slim body approached Ana.

"Another confession?" she asked.

Ana looked up and said, "Nisa."

As they were talking, a boy entered the classroom and tapped on the girl's shoulder.

"Hey Ana," said the boy.

Ana looked back to see who it was. And as soon as she saw the boy's face, her expression suddenly changed.

The boy had black hair and a handsome face.

"Are you busy?" the boy asked.

"No, I am not." Ana shook her head.

Then he looked at Nisa, who was talking with Ana a while ago.

"Ah... I will be going now. Talk to you later, Ana." Nisa walked away and sat at her desk.

"So, what do you want, Luka?" Ana asked, folding her hands under her bosom.

"I want to talk to you about something."

"Talk about what?"

"I can't say that here."

"Is this one of your pranks again?" Ana asked as she squinted her eyes.

"No."

"Then what? Tell me. The class is going to start soon," Ana insisted.

"You will find out soon. Meet me behind the academy during lunch break" Saying that, Luka left the classroom.

"What do you mean by that?!" Ana yelled, peeking her head out of the room.

"You will know soon!" Luka yelled back and entered the room next to hers.

'Don't tell me...no...no...no...no...that's impossible,' Ana shook her head in denial.

Soon after, Nisa got up from her desk and rushed to Ana, saying. "What will you do?"

"He asked you to meet him on break. What will you do?" Nisa asked.

"I don't know."

"I am sure he will ask you out."

"What?! No way! That's impossible!" Ana exclaimed.

"Why? Isn't Luka your childhood friend?"

"I know, but if he asks me out now, then..."

"You want to beat Liz that badly, huh?"

"I hate that girl. She has also rejected 49 boys till now, and I am always behind her. Now I just have one more boy confess to me, and I will win"

"Hehehehehe," Nisa grinned.

"What are you laughing about?"

"Nothing. It's just that it's been a while since I saw you like this"

"What do you mean?"

"It's nothing. The next class is starting"

"Okay."

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

"How the hell is its lunch break already?" Ana questioned herself.

'Why does it feel like time just skipped?'

Ana was on her way to meet Luka behind the academy— the same place where she rejected that boy in the morning.

After walking for a while, she reached there and said, "Hey, I am here."

"You really came. I thought you wouldn't come since you reacted like that."

"So, what do you want to talk about?" Ana asked.

'Of course, I would come if you invited me.'

"Well, actually, you might already know this, but—"

"Wait...wait...wait...timeout!" Ana interrupted Luka.

'What should I do? He is acting like he is going to confess to me. But why now of all times?'

Ana's fear was real as Luka was indeed planning to confess to her. But it wasn't as if he was trying to take advantage of Ana's condition. Instead, he was just annoyed that all the boys kept confessing to her, so he wanted to stop them from doing that.

"What do you mean by 'time out'?" Luka asked and started walking towards Ana.

"Wait...why are you coming closer?"

Luka hugged her, saying, "Don't move."

Luka was so close to Ana that if someone were to see them, they would surely misunderstand as if they were hugging.

"Here. There was a pink leaf on your hair. I was just taking it out..." He stopped when he saw Ana's flushed face.

"Hey, are you okay?" Luka asked.

"I am… okay. It's just that you came so close suddenly that I..."

"Ah, my bad, I should have warned you first," Luka smirked inwardly.

"No, it's okay."

"But still, the leaf is the same color as your..."

"Huh? Oh, you mean the same color as my hair? Yes, it is the same. But my hair is a little lighter."

"That's true. But I wasn't talking about that— though... nevermind that."

"Anyway, I should make this quick," Luka said as he tossed the leaf in the air.

"Yes, go ahead."

"So Ana..."

"Yes?"

There was nervousness in both of their voices.

"The thing is...."

"Hmm?" Ana's face was already tense.

"I love you! Please go out with me."

"...!" Ana's face flushed even though she knew it was going to be a confession.

But seriously, it was impossible to tell that it was the same girl who rejected boys with an expressionless face.

'I knew it! It was a confession, after all. What should I do? I can't reject him because I also love him. But I also can't accept it. If I accept, then it will be impossible to defeat Liz, but I... I can't just reject him either.'

All of this was Luka's plan.

When he found out that the boys were taking advantage of Ana's condition and confessing to her, Luka thought of a plan. Luka asked for Liz's help and started spreading rumors that Liz was Ana's top rival.

As Ana had lost her most recent memories, she believed that rumor.

Even though Ana had lost her memories, she never forgot about Luka and his and her love for each other.

"Why now?" Ana asked, but it was no more than a whisper.

"What do you mean by 'why now'? Is there supposed to be a mood for confessing?"

"I don't know!"

Both of them were freaking out. Even though Luka had practiced this confession many times, he was nervous.

"So, what is your answer?" Luka asked with a tense and curious look on his face.

"I need time to think about that," Ana replied.

"We grew up together. So your answer should be clear."

"What does that have to do with this?"

"No, I mean, I was sure that you also like me. That's why I confessed to you."

"What?!" Her face turned even more red after hearing that.

"So, what is your answer?"

'What should I do? I have no other choice but to reject him... yes! I will reject him now, and then I will confess to him once we get home,' Ana was in despair.

Ana gulped down and said, "I am sorry."

Luka was shocked by that unpredictable answer. But he didn't show any change of expression on his face.

"I see," he looked down and said, "I understand. But let's continue getting along as friends."

"Yes!"

'Don't worry, Luka. I will confess to you once we get home.'

After that, Luka went off somewhere. And Ana went back to her classroom with only one thought in her mind.

All the classes ended, but Ana was still feeling gloomy and sad for rejecting Luka. But it was a matter of time before she reached home and confessed to Luka. However, nothing happened as she planned.

Soon after, many students—mostly girls, yelled "Kyaa!" in the classroom next to Ana's classroom.

"That was a loud scream. I wonder what happened," Nisa picked up her bag and turned to Ana, "Let's go and take a look."

"Don't wanna. I wanna go home as soon as possible."

"Haha. Yes, you should. You don't look so good."

"See you tomorrow."

"Yes. See you tomorrow." Ana picked up her bag and left the classroom.

'Now I just have to go home and confess to him. I hope he is not angry or sad. I wonder if he already went home or not. Lemme check'.

She entered Luka's Classroom, but for some reason, the room was crowded.

'Come to think of that scream that came from his classroom. I wonder what happened'.

"I can't believe it!"

"Kyaa!"

"No way!"

All the students in the class were gossiping with each other.

"What happened?" Ana asked a girl standing near her.

"Well, you see. As soon as the last class ended, Liz confessed to Luka."

"I see. So Liz confessed to Luka," Ana clearly didn't understand what that girl just said, or rather it just bounced off her mind.

'Hmm?! What?!'

"What do you mean by 'Liz confessed to Luka'?" Ana asked again.

'Liz confessed to Luka? But why? He is my childhood friend!'

'And I was going to confess to him once we got home!' Ana screamed inwardly.

"What did Luka do?" Ana asked curiously

"Well. He accepted"

"What?"

"He agreed to go out with her."

"Why?"

'Didn't he confess to me during the break, then why did he...'

"Well, I don't know. But they do look good together. The most popular girl and one of the most popular boys to go out with each other, it's natural."

'That's right. Why did I forget about that? He also gets many confessions, but he rejects all of them. So why did he accept... it's my fault.'

'Could it be that he also likes her? But he confessed to me so...'. As Ana was lost in her thoughts, a girl approached her.

It was none other than Liz.

She had black hair that was reaching to her waist and dark-black eyes. She also had bigger breasts than Ana, and that was one of the reasons Ana hated Liz.

"Ara, hello Ana," Liz uttered with a mischievous smile on her face.

"Liz!"

"Ara, why are you so angry? Did I do something to make you angry?"

Ana was holding back her anger.

"Hey, Ana, let's go home," Luka butted in their conversation.

"Why should I?!" Ana replied with a yell.

"What do you mean? We always go home together," Luka stated.

"I don't want to! Why don't you go with your girlfriend!" Ana's replies were getting more and more furious.

"Ara, you don't have to tell me that. And of course, I am going home with him," Liz quipped.

"Is that so? Good for you, Luka!" Ana said with a glare in her eyes.

"Don't be like that. Come on, let's go together."

Ana reluctantly agreed, just because her house is the same way.

Luka, Liz, and Ana are on their way home. Everything was silent until:

"Let's go to the academy together tomorrow," Liz said while holding Luka's arm.

"But isn't this route too long for you?" Luka replied as he tried to break free from Liz's grip.

"You are right, my bad."

Meanwhile, Ana was,

'I was going to confess to him when we got home.'

"Ara, what happened, Ana? You don't look so good."

"Nothing, nothing at all!" Ana's face was twitching.

"Well then, see you tomorrow, Luka," Liz s parted ways with Luka and Ana.

"Yes, see you tomorrow," Luka said as he waved back.

Soon after, Luka and Ana also reached their home. Their houses are right next to each other and the space between their houses was so tiny that one could easily come and go from windows.

"See you tomorrow Ana."

"....."

Ana didn't say anything and went inside her house.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

It was night, around 9. And the full moon was shining bright.

'What should I do now?' Ana was lying on the bed, rolling around.

'I was going to confess to him when we got home, so why did this happen?'

"This is all my fault. I would have just answered with 'I will tell you tomorrow' to his confession. But he was forcing it, so I just...."

SIGH

Ana was aware that it was her fault for rejecting Luka first, but in truth— Luka's plan was backfired. He had never guessed that Liz would confess to him, although he still thought that Liz just confessed to him to mess with Ana.

Soon after, there was a knock on her window. Ana ignored that at first, but the knocking never stopped.

"What is it?!" She yelled while opening the window.

"Whoa, don't yell." Luka was at the window of his room.

"What is it?"

"Are you okay? You look down for some reason."

Ana frowned her eyebrows as she said, "You know the reason, don't you?"

"Is it about me going out with Liz?" Luka asked.

Her face twitched.

"Your face just twitched," Luka commented.

"Don't say that!"

"So..?" Luka tilted his head while gazing at Ana from the corner of his eyes, "Is that the reason?"

"Yes, it is about that! Why are you going out with her? Didn't you say you love me?!"

'And I was going to confess to you.' she added inwardly.

Luka turned his face to the other side and said, "Well, I do love you."

"Then why are you going out with--?"

"But you rejected me," Luka added.

"That was....." Ana stopped halfway because she knew that her reason was no more than acting up in her selfishness.

"That was?"

"Even if I rejected you, doesn't that mean you can go out with her," Ana remarked.

"Well, I did get many confessions before, but I rejected all of them because I was in love with you."

'Was?!'.

"That's why I confessed to you, but you rejected me. And then Liz confessed to me, and I didn't have any reason to reject her," Luka said as he shrugged his shoulders.

'Was?!'

Ana was still stuck up on that 'was,' said by Luka.

"I now know how it feels when someone rejects you," Luka said, looking up at the sky.

Ana didn't say anything, or rather she couldn't say anything.

Luka was just trying to tease Ana for rejecting him and had no intention of being mean to her.

"I…" Soon after, she said something, but it was no more than a whisper.

"What? Stop whispering and say it out loud."

"I love you too, you know!"

"But now you are going out with Liz and...and... I was going to confess to...." Her words were breaking down as she started crying.

"Wait for a second. I will call Liz now."

"Huh? Wait, what do you mean—"

She wiped her tears and saw that Luka was gone.

After a minute or two, he came to the window while talking to Liz on his phone.

"Okay… hmm… I see… yes… I understand… hmm… okay… bye."

"Okay, done," Luka hung up the call.

"What do you mean?"

"Liz said it's okay."

"What do you mean? You… broke up… with..!" Ana stuttered.

"She said she doesn't mind me dating you… too," he said the last part in a low voice.

'She doesn't mind me dating him? She is a good girl after all… wait...' too'?!'

"What did you say?" Ana asked again to confirm.

"She is okay with me dating you… too"

"....."

"What is 'too' about?!"

"That means I will date... both... of... you?" Luka said, or rather questioned.

"You will date both of us? This is not some kind of stupid novel!" Ana shouted as loud as she could.

"I know that."

"You can't just date both of us!" Ana retorted.

"But Liz said that's her condition," he added.

'That bitch! She is a scum!'

"So? What do you think?" asked Luka.

"I don't know...I mean, I do want to date you, but...."

'I don't even know what to say!'. Ana was certainly happy that she is going out with Luka now. But at the same time, she was experiencing an emotion she had never felt.

"But you don't have any other choice if you truly want to go out with me," Luka said in a monotonous tone.

Ana's face immediately twitched.

"That's what Liz said," Luka added as he grinned.

"Well then," she moved her hands and said, "I will be in your care" She hesitantly shook hands with Luka.

"Heh," Luka let out a chuckle.

Luka thought Liz was just joking and messing with Ana, as a boy dating two girls was unheard of— but much to his surprise, he had made a deal with a demon.

"By the way, are you alone?" Luka asked while throwing his phone on his bed.

"No, my mom is downstairs."

"I see."

"Why did you ask?"

"I wanted to have some fun with you now that we are going out," Luka asserted with a grin.

Ana covered her body with her hands and furrowed her brows, "Touch me and say goodbye to your pee-pee."

"Wow!" Luka exclaimed as he scoffed, "I was joking, idiot."

Ana squinted her eyes and commented, "It didn't look like you were joking, and you looked pretty serious when you said that."

"I am alone now. You wanna come over?"

"Where did everyone go?" Ana questioned with a puzzled look on her face.

"My old man is in charge of some missions."

"And your mom?"

"She is out with Lily." Luka sighed and said, "Apparently, Lily wanted to go to grandpa's place, so mom took her."

"Wait, so haven't eaten dinner yet? We have some leftovers if you like—"

"I would rather eat you," Luka licked his lips.

Ana's face flushed as she furrowed her brows, "Stop saying these lewd things."

"Mom had cooked some stuff before she left, so I ate that."

"I see." Ana puckered her lips and glanced at Nero, "And here I was planning to come over and cook something for you."

"You better lock your window at night or don't blame me if you wake up naked with me the next morning."

"Will you say lewd things all the time now?" Ana tried to hide her embarrassment.

"I don't remember ever stopping it," Nero chuckled.

They both laughed and talked for a while before heading to their beds.
