Chapter 3 - The day after

"Margo, are you paying attention?" I look up in confusion and see my English teacher standing in front of my desk. "Sorry, Mr. Nederlof. I did not sleep well last night. I will make sure to take the notes from now on.", I say and start writing the notes from the board in my notebook. "Alright, as long as you have all your notes ready for your exams at the end of the year.", he says and walks back to the board. I was thinking about that dream again. It still kind of haunts me. I don't know why I dreamed what I dreamed., but it felt so real… it is just a dream. I should just forget about it. It was probably just something that I saw on TV earlier.

"Psst…" I look besides me and see Rose trying to communicate with me. "Yeah?", I whisper back. "You having a bad day? You can copy my notes at the end of this class." I smile and thank her. Am I having a bad day? Not really 'bad'. More of a confusing one. Rose is a sweet girl. She is not the most popular girl in class, in fact she is often the target when someone wants to bully someone, but she is very kind. Even after all the times someone was mean to her. I should buy her lunch today. This is our last class anyways. I write it down on a note and give it to Rose. She smiles to me and nods.

"Since this is your last class for today, I will leave it here. I expect that everyone will do their homework for tomorrow! Class dismissed." Everyone grabs their bags and leaves the classroom as quick as possible. I grab my things and look at Rose. "Where do you want to eat?", I ask and walk up to her. "I don't know. We could try that doughnut place? I heard that they are delicious.", she answers and we start walking out of the classroom. "Sure, sounds good. I do like doughnuts!" I look at her and smile. "Sorry if this is a weird question, but are you and Aiden dating?" She looks at me and smiles awkwardly. "No, are just friends. Why do you ask?", I say and the moment she wants to answer the question I feel a hand on my shoulder. "I am Margo her best friend, although it kind of looks like we are dating, doesn't it?" I look behind me and see Aiden walking behind us with a big smile. "Hey, princess.", he says and starts to walk next to me. "See, this is exactly why people think we are dating.", I say and I look annoyed at Aiden. "You two would be cute together.", Rose says and smiles. "See, Margo. We are the greatest team ever. All jokes aside, shall we go to my place now or do you need to drop something off at home first?" Aiden looks at me and I sigh. I forgot I made plans with Aiden today. "I am so sorry, Rose. I forgot I made plans with Aiden today. Is it okay if we go to that doughnut place another time? I promise that we will go soon!" I notice that Rose is a bit down that we are not grabbing lunch together. "It is alright. We will go another time.", she says and smiles a bit faintly. "I am really sorry, Rose. It was stupid of me to forget this. I will pay for your lunch next time, okay?" I look at Rose and her smiles gets a bit wider. "Alright, sounds good to me. Have fun together.", she says and goes her own way. "You forgot we made plans? I am truly hurt, Margo. How could you forget me?" I look confused at Aiden and see that he can barely hold his laugh. "Oh, shut it, you dork. Let's just go now." He smiles at me and start walking. "Whatever you say, princess."

"So, what do you want to do?", Aiden asks as he takes his shoes off and puts away his coat. "Lets just start with a cup of coffee." I take my shoes off as well and put away my coat. "Alrighties, Make yourself at home. Like always.", he says and I hear him turning on the coffee machine. I sit down on the couch and put my feet up there as well. Aiden's apartment never changes. It is a bit of a mess, but that also makes it kind of cozy. I grab one of the pillows at the couch and smile. This is the same pillow his mom gave him on his birthday. It has a text on it that says 'Aiden is the best'. "I see you found the pillow again.", Aiden says and hands me my coffee. He sits down next to me (well, next to my feet at the other side of the couch) and looks at me. I take a sip from my coffee and smile at him. "So.", he starts. "How are you?" I look a bit confused at him and say; "I'm alright? Why do you ask?" We both take a sip from our coffee and look at each other. "Well, you said you had a nightmare. You called me at 4 in the morning. Which means you did not get much sleep. You should be tired as hell right now." He looks at me dead serious and the only reaction I can get out of my mouth is a stupid laugh. "I am fine, Aiden. I promise.", I say and instantly regret it. I lied to him, and he knows exactly when I'm lying. "Margo?", he says and grabs my foot. "You know you cant lie to me." He looks at me foot and starts laughing. "What? What is so funny about my foot?" I sit up straight and grab my foot. I notice a huge hole in my sock that basically goes from my heel to my toes. I take off my sock and pout. "You could've just told me instead of laughing at me.", I say annoyed. Aiden stands up and disappears in his bedroom. "Where are you going?" I bet he did not even hear me. I lay down on the couch and close my eyes. Aiden is so weird. Kind of cute though… I suddenly feel him grabbing both my feet. I open my eyes and look at him with confusion on my face. "What are you doing.", I say and he stays silent and pulls off the sock on my other foot. "Aiden? What the hell are you doing?" He just smiles at me and holds up two really big and fluffy socks. I gasp and try to grab them, but he dodged me. "Lay down, princess,", he says and I see a little blush on his face. Oh, Aiden. Why do you make this so hard for yourself. He puts one sock on my foot and looks at me. "It fits. Almost as if this is bought specially for you." He smiles softly and puts the other sock on my foot. "You know you don't have to buy me stuff, right?", I say and put my feet on the ground. "I know, but your reaction is priceless. Do you like the socks?" He sits down next to me, really close, and just grabs his cup of coffee. "Yeah, they are very comfortable. Thank you, Aiden.", I say as I look at him. A small soft blush appears on his cheeks. "No problem, princess.", he says and looks away.

After a few minutes of silence he looks at me. "Do you want to eat something? I can order pizza?" I stretch out a bit and nod. "I would love some pizza right now! I will text Alex that she has to buy her own food for today." He smiles and grabs his phone. "So, you are staying for the evening too then?", he says and I can see him looking at me very carefully. "I guess so, yeah. If we have pizza then I see no reason to go home." I smile and hit his shoulder in a playful way. He smiles back and starts typing on his phone. "Do you want the same as always?", he says while he dials the number and looks at me. I nod and stand up to put our coffee mugs into the dishwasher. I look at my phone and see 3 missed calls and 4 messages;

Alex: When are you coming home?

Alex: Do you have any food at home?

Alex: Are you done yet?

Alex: I am hungryyyyy

I text her back that I'll be staying here for dinner. She wont like that, but that doesn't matter now. She will be alright. She is living rent free in my apartment now. Cant give her everything. I walk back to the living room and look at Aiden. "If Alex calls you, don't pick up." I sit down next to him again and he looks at me. "Why? Did she not like it that you are staying here?" I shake my head and he sighs. "Alright. Noted." He leans back on the couch and yawns. "Can't wait for the pizza, though." He smiles and looks at the ceiling. Why can't they just get along. They are both stubborn as hell. Aiden looks at me and blushes softly again. He then looks away and sighs.

"Margo?"
