"Eva, slow down! You might trip and get hurt!"
Ross called her in a sharp scream from behind. Eva was almost rushing ahead of him in grief and with the brisk tone, she halted.
He moved quickly closer to her and glanced at her expression. She had a grimacing face with her eyes lowered down.
"Hey, don't be so sad. Your eyes are already swollen from crying so hard." He tried to comfort her and handed her a hanky to wipe her tears out. "Here, take this."
She sighed heavily with his kind gesture and lifted her arm to grab the fine linen hanky. But all of a sudden, a thought struck her mind which made her pause.
"Ross... what if I never find the pendant ever again? What if I am accosted by dangers... again?" Her voice quivered.
