(Jared's POV)
TARDIS…
"Ruby, it feels like forever since we met." I said, eating some Halloween candy with Ruby. "So, how was your day?"
"Well, besides us traveling around all of time and space. Roman Torchwick and the White Fang still on the loose. Everything's fine." Ruby said, eating the candy corn. "You know what I want to do for my next birthday. I want to shoot out candy corn out of my Crescent Rose."
"Candy corn?" Weiss asked, walking up to us. "Really? Two days after your birthday?"
"I'm more of a M&Ms kind of girl." Blake said, taking out said candy from her trick or treat bag. "Then again, I do like tea more than coffee."
"Coffee. More like coughing." Yang said, looking at the rest of Team RWBY and me. "Due to Blake being a Faunus."
"Very funny."
"So, we're stopping by Cardiff." Weiss said, as I nodded my head. "What for?"
"The TARDIS needs to refuel. It needs more energy from the rift." I said, shrugging my shoulders. "That's all."
"And then we can go home?"
"Well, we'll have a couple of adventures along the way."
"Okay!" Ruby said, excitedly. "The Vytal Tournament can wait."
(Open POV)
Roald Dahl Plass...
Mickey arrives at Cardiff Central railway station and heads to the redeveloped Oval Basin. The Tardis is in front of the huge water tower, a very avante garde slab with water pouring down it. Mickey knocks on the door. Jack answers it.
"Who the hell are you?" Jack asked.
"What do you mean, who the hell am I? Who the hell are you?" Mickey asked.
"Captain Jack Harkness. Whatever your selling, we're not buying."
"Get out of my way!"
Tardis...
"Don't tell me. This must be Mickey." Jack said, when Mickey barged his way into the console room.
"Here comes trouble! How're you doing, Ricky boy?" The Doctor asked.
"It's Mickey!" Mickey said, angrily.
"Don't listen to him, he's winding you up." Rose said, sadly.
"You look fantastic."
Rose and Mickey hug. The Doctor is up a ladder mending something.
"Aw, sweet, look at these two. How come I never get any of that?" Jack asked.
"Well, how about you buy me a drink?" Yang asked, walking over to Jack. "And we can discuss business. You and me."
"You, me, your dormitory at Beacon?" Jack asked, flirting with Yang.
"The room that I share with Ruby, Weiss, and Blake? You be health, I'll be safety." Yang said, walking up to Jack, continuing to flirt with him.
"Did you manage to find it?" Rose asked, looking at Mickey.
"There you go." Mickey said, handing Rose her passport.
"I can go anywhere now." Rose said, showing off her passport.
"I told you, you don't need a passport." The Doctor said, looking at Rose.
"It's all very well going to Platform One and Justicia and the Glass Pyramid of San Kaloon, but what if we end up in Brazil? I might need it. You see, I'm prepared for anything."
"Sounds like your staying, then. So, what're you doing in Cardiff? And who the hell's Jumping Jack Flash? I mean, I don't mind you hanging out with big-ears up there…" Mickey said, looking at the Doctor.
"Oi!" The Doctor said, offended.
"Look in the mirror. But this guy, I don't know, he's kind of…"
"Handsome?" Jack asked.
"More like cheesy."
"Early twenty first Century slang. Is cheesy good or bad?"
"It's bad."
"But bad means good, isn't that right?"
"Are you saying I'm not handsome?" The Doctor asked.
"Well, we had to make a pit stop." Jared said, still eating the Halloween candy with Ruby. "We need to refuel."
"Cardiff, this city." Weiss said, leaning against the TARDIS console room. "It has this rift running through the center of it. Think of it like a World Tree."
"Well, it's invisible, but it's like an earthquake fault between different dimensions." Rose said, as Jared ate some Sour Patch Kids.
"The rift was mended in 1869." Blake said, crossing her arms.
"This servant girl, Gwyneth." Yang said, walking over to Ruby and Jared to eat some Kit Kats. "She saved the world by closing the rift. Ruby said that she was a kind, caring, and nice girl."
"There were aliens called the Gelth. They were using the rift as a way to this world. It would have been bad if it stayed open!" Ruby said, grabbing a Kit Kat from Yang to take a bite out of it.
"But closing a rift always leaves a scar, and that scar generates energy, harmless to the human race…" Jack said.
"But perfect for the Tardis, so just park it here for a couple of days right on top of the scar and…" The Doctor said.
"Open up the engines, soak up the radiation."
"Like filling her up with petrol and off we go!" Rose said, excitedly.
"Into time!" Jack said, happily.
"And space!" The Doctor, Rose, Jack, Jared, and Team RWBY said at the same time, raising their hands into the air.
"My God, have you seen yourselves? You all think you're so clever, don't you?" Mickey asked.
"Yeah." The Doctor said, happily.
"Yeah." Rose said.
"Yep!" Jack said.
Roald Dahl Plass…
"Should take another twenty four hours, which means we've got time to kill." The Doctor said.
"That old lady's staring." Mickey said.
"Probably wondering what thirteen people could do inside a small wooden box." Jack said.
"What are you captain of, the Innuendo Squad?" Mickey asked, while Jack makes a gesture and starts to walk away. "Wait, the Tardis, we can't just leave it. Doesn't it get noticed?"
"Yeah, what's with the police box? Why does it look like that?"
"It's a cloaking device." Rose said.
"It's called a chameleon circuit. The Tardis is meant to disguise itself wherever it lands, like if this was Ancient Rome, it'd be a statue on a plinth or something. But I landed in the 1960s, it disguised itself as a police box, and the circuit got stuck." The Doctor said.
"So it copied a real thing? There actually was police boxes?" Mickey asked.
"Yeah, on street corners. Phone for help before they had radios and mobiles. If they arrested someone, they could shove them inside till help came, like a little prison cell."
"Why don't you just fix the circuit?" Jack asked.
"Knowing him, it would never happen." Weiss said, crossing her arms. "Because he jumps from place to place."
"Snow White is right, I just don't have the time. I like it, don't you?" The Doctor asked.
"I love it." Rose said, happily.
"But that's what I meant. There's no police boxes anymore, so doesn't it get noticed?" Mickey asked.
"Ricky, let me tell you something about the human race. You put a mysterious blue box slap bang in the middle of town, what do they do? Walk past it. Now, stop your nagging. Let's go and explore." The Doctor said.
"What's the plan?" Rose asked.
"I don't know. Cardiff, early twenty first century and the wind's coming from the east. Trust me. Safest place in the universe."
(Jared's POV)
Torchwood Hub...
"Okay, I know I'm messing with time a bit." I said, walking into the Hub with Ruby Rose. "Me being here with you."
"Jared." Jack said, walking up to me with Owen and Tosh. "When are you?"
"Oh, you know. Margaret. We need a favor."
"We want to get Yang a present!" Ruby said, excitedly, running up to Jack. "A motorcycle! She'll love it!"
"Hang on, doesn't Yang already have her Bumblebee?" Owen asked, walking over to Ruby. "Why do you want to get her another bike?"
"It's because I want her to wait and see. What's the best bike this year?"
"It's the Triumph Daytona 675." Tosh said, looking it up on the Torchwood server. "Why do you want to get her that?"
"Ruby didn't think this through." I said, sadly. "She wants to get Yang the best present ever."
"So, you left me up there with the rest of Team TARDIS and Team RWBY." Jack said, recalling what happened. "And what about Team JNPR?"
"Oh, they're inside the TARDIS. They should be safe."
(Open POV)
TARDIS…
"I should have unlocked Jared's aura by now." Pyrrha said, leaning against the TARDIS console. "His is probably locked."
"You want to see how much aura he has." Jaune said, and Pyrrha nodded her head. "Is it because he's not from our world?"
"Yeah. I have a theory that he might be able to self-heal himself through his aura."
"Oh. That would be helpful."
"But three swordsman? Weiss, me, and Jared."
"It might seem a bit much, but it could help us in the long run."
"How?"
"Well, you do have a lot of aura. I told you that before."
"Ren!" Nora said, running into the TARDIS console room, going after Ren who is holding a cup of coffee from Starbucks. "I want some!"
"No. You're already hyper as it is." Ren said, looking back at Nora. "Why did Jared leave a cup of pumpkin spice latte in the theater room?"
"It's his favorite flavor." Pyrrha said, sadly.
Roald Dahl Plass...
"So Weiss, you don't know what Ruby is up to with Jared." Blake said, crossing her arms.
"Well, I consider it a waste of time. Those two having fun." Weiss said, annoyed. "What are they even doing anyway?"
"Maybe they're doing something fun."
"Like what?"
"Maybe they're sleeping together."
"In this weather?"
"Weather? More like…" Yang said, trying to come up with a bad pun. "That leather needs to go."
"I'm not changing my jumper!" The Doctor said, angrily.
Torchwood Hub…
"That Smash Bros Ultimate Direct was so cool!" Jared said, fanboying it out with Ruby Rose. "Incineroar and Ken from Street Fighter."
"Don't forget the Spirit Mode. The Adventure Mode looked cool too, I guess." Ruby said, as she ran over to Jared's Nintendo Switch to pick it up. "Can we get it now?"
"But the gigabyte size is huge, Little Red. I would get it digitally. I don't know."
"Get it! For me?"
"You want to see the swords from the Fire Emblem characters in updated graphics…"
"I do! Weapons, they're a part of us. And they're a part of the characters from Fire Emblem."
"Don't forget Sword Art Online. Do you think I could wield the Monado and the Myrtenaster at the same time?"
"I don't know. You using Weiss' weapon like that. It might work."
Jared then sat down on the couch with Ruby to rewatch the Direct again.
TARDIS….
"Jared left us here. I just feel like we're in the sidelines." Jaune said.
"He is busy rotating us around." Ren said. "Nora and I were with them for the gas mask zombies."
"We were with him, the Doctor, and Rose for Rose's dad." Pyrrha said, recalling what happened.
"Does that mean, he could shake things up a bit?" Nora asked. "Will I have some fun with Ruby?"
"Ooo, I call Weiss!" Jaune said, happily. "I want to hang out with her."
"It doesn't matter with me." Ren said. "As long as we make it back to Beacon at some point."
"I have a feeling we well." Pyrrha said. "I just don't know when."
"God knows how many adventures the Doctor has."
Roald Dahl Plass…
"Ruby and Jared are really taking their time with their date." Blake said, crossing her arms.
"But Ruby is younger than Jared." Weiss said, stating the obvious. How does that even work? It would make more sense with Yang."
"I'm just too good for him." Yang said, happily. "He knows that."
"I don't think he does. He makes bad puns and jokes with you now and again."
"I make bad puns and jokes."
"They're really lame."
"But I'm really lame."
"You just admitted that he is totally in your league."
"Weiss, I think you are extremely lucky Jared didn't hear you say that." Blake said.
"How come?" Weiss asked.
"How come? You could that he has it homecoming. Or that he is coming home." Yang said, trying to come up with another bad pun. "Yeah, I think it's hard to come up with these without any pop culture references. Or where I can place a bad pun in."
"Are you breaking the fourth wall?"
"I think she is." Blake said, rolling her eyes. "For Jared."
Restaurant…
On a small jetty.
"I swear, six feet tall and with big tusks…" Jack said.
"You're lying through your teeth!" The Doctor said, angrily.
"I'd have gone bonkers! That's the word...bonkers!" Rose said, happily.
"And what does bonkers mean?" Ruby asked.
"Does it mean crazy?" Weiss asked, looking at Jared.
"Yup." Jared said, happily, looking down at the Monado. "Me, I would have beaten it with the Monado, but what happened next."
"You and your Monado, what happens next is funny. I mean, it turns out the white things are tusks and I mean tusks! And it's woken, and it's not happy." Jack said, looking at Jared before continuing on with his story.
"How could you not know it was there?" The Doctor asked.
"And we're standing there, fifteen of us, naked…"
"Naked?!" Rose, Ruby, and Blake exclaimed.
"And I'm like, oh, no, no, it's got nothing to do with me. And then it roars, and we are running. Oh my God, we are running! And Brakovitch falls, so I turn to him and I say…"
"I knew we should've turned left!" Mickey, Yang, Weiss, and Jared said at the same time.
"That's my line!" Jack said, annoyed.
"I don't believe you. I don't believe a word you say ever. That is so brilliant. Did you ever get your clothes back?" Rose asked.
The Doctor snatches a newspaper from the man at the next table and reads it.
"No, I just picked him up went right for the ship, full throttle. Didn't stop until I hit the spacelanes. I was shaking. It was unbelievable. It freaked me out, and by the time I got fifteen light years away I realised I'm like this." Jack said, recalling what happened.
"And I was having such a nice day." The Doctor said, sadly.
The Doctor holds up the front page of the Western Mail, with the picture the photographer took of Margaret.
City hall foyer…
"According to intelligence, the target is the last surviving member of the Slitheen family, a criminal sect from the planet Raxacoricofallapatorious, masquerading as a human being, zipped inside a skin suit. Okay, plan of attack, we assume a basic fifty seven fifty six strategy, covering all available exits on the ground floor. Doctor, Jared, Ruby, you go face to face. That'll designate Exit One, Yang and I will cover Exit Two. Rose, Blake, you Exit Three. Mickey Smith and Weiss Schnee, you take Exit Four. Have you got that?" Jack asked.
"Excuse me. Who's in charge?" The Doctor asked, looking at Jack.
"Sorry. Awaiting orders, sir."
"Right, here's the plan." The Doctor said, pausing a moment to think. "Like he said. Nice plan. Anything else?"
"Present arms."
Team TARDIS each pull out a mobile phone, while Team RWBY took out their Scrolls and Jared took out his smartphone.
"Ready." The Doctor said.
"Ready." Ruby said.
"Ready." Rose said.
"Ready." Weiss said.
"Ready." Mickey said.
"Ready." Blake said.
"Ready." Jack said.
"Ready." Yang said.
"Ready." Jared said.
"Speed dial?" Jack asked.
"Yup." The Doctor said.
"Ready." Rose said.
"Check." Mickey said.
"We're all set." Ruby said, sadly. "I would have liked to come up with the plan. But you know, this isn't my world."
"It isn't mine either." Jared said, looking down at his iPhone. "I'm ready."
"See you in hell." Jack said, walking away with Yang.
Blake and Rose walked off in another direction, while Weiss and Mickey headed off in another direction.
Outside the Mayor's office….
The Doctor speaks to the young man sitting at a desk by the door, "Hello, we've come to see the Lord Mayor."
"Have you got an appointment?" Idris asked.
"No, just old friends passing by. Bit of a surprise. Can't wait to see her face." The Doctor said, happily.
"Well, she's just having a cup of tea."
"Just go in there and tell her the Doctor, Jared, and Ruby would like to see her."
"Doctor who?"
"Just the Doctor. Tell her exactly that. The Doctor, Jared, and Ruby."
"Hang on a tick." Idris said, going into the Lord Mayor's office. A tea cup smashes on the floor. Idris comes out again. "The Lord Mayor says thank you for popping by. She'd love to have a chat, but, er, she's up to her eyes in paperwork. Perhaps if you could make an appointment for next week?"
"She's climbing out of the window, isn't she?"
"Yes, she is."
Lord Mayor's office balcony…
"Slitheen heading north." The Doctor said, walking into the phone.
"Now hurry up!" Ruby said, talking into her Scroll.
"You slow...pokes!" Jared said, talking into his phone.
City hall…
"On our way." Rose said.
"It won't take long." Blake said, running with Rose.
"Over and out." Jack said.
"You could say that she is out of it." Yang said, running away with Jack.
"Oh, good one." Jack said, laughing.
"Oh my God." Mickey said, shocked.
"Come on, you dunce!" Weiss said, activating her glyphs to get a bit of speed by running on them. "Move it!"
Lord Mayor's office balcony…
Idris wrestles with the Doctor as Margaret climbs down a ladder, "Leave the Mayor alone!"
City hall…
Meanwhile, Rose and Blake run into a clerk carrying a pile of papers, and Jack and Yang leap over a tea trolley. Mickey and Weiss crash into a cleaning woman.
City hall car park…
Margaret reaches the bottom of the ladder and takes off her brooch. She starts to run but sees Rose and Blake coming towards her, snarls and removes her right earring. Then Jack comes running from the opposite direction with Yang. The Doctor finishes with Idris and sees her running in the only available direction - across the front of the building.
"Margaret!" The Doctor said, as he gets down the ladder with Jared and Ruby as Margaret removes her other earring and puts it with the first and the brooch.
The chase is on.
"Who's on Exit Four?!" Jack exclaimed.
"I don't know." Yang said, her eyes glowing red. "She makes me so mad. And I lost a bit of my hair in my process!"
"That was Mickey and Weiss!" Rose said.
"Speak of the Devil." Blake said, crossing her arms.
"Here we are." Mickey said, running with Weiss.
"You dolt, you got in the way of my glyphs!" Weiss said, angrily. "I had the path perfectly laid out!"
"Mickey the idiot and the ice queen." The Doctor said.
"Oh, be fair. she's not exactly going to outrun us, is she?" Rose asked, as Margaret vanishes.
"She's got a teleport! That's cheating! Now we're never going to get her." Jack said.
"Oh, the Doctor's very good at teleports."
The Doctor holds up his sonic screwdriver and Margaret reappears, running towards them. Vanish, reappear. Vanish, reappear, "I could do this all day."
"This is persecution. Why can't you leave me alone? What did I ever do to you and Team JNPR?" Margaret asked.
"You tried to kill us and destroy this entire planet." The Doctor said.
"Apart from that."
(Jared's POV)
City hall…
"So, you're a Slitheen, you're on Earth, you're trapped. Your family get killed but you teleport out just in the nick of time. You have no means of escape. What do you do? You build a nuclear power station. But what for?" The Doctor asked.
"A philanthropic gesture. I've learnt the error of my ways." Margaret said.
"And it just so happens to be right on top of the rift." Weiss said, leaning against the wall.
"What rift would that be?"
"A rift in space and time. If this power station went into meltdown, the entire planet would go…" Jack said, before making an explosion noise.
"Planet? More like planned it. She planned this well." Yang said, making a bad pun.
"This station is designed to explode the minute it reaches capacity." The Doctor said.
"Didn't anyone notice? Isn't there someone in London checking this sort of stuff?" Rose asked.
"We're in Cardiff. London doesn't care. The South Wales coast could fall into the sea and they wouldn't notice. Oh. I sound like a Welshman. God help me, I've gone native." Margaret said, angrily.
"But why would she do that? A great big explosion, she'd only end up killing herself." Mickey said.
"She's got a name, you know."
"She's not even a she, she's a thing."
"Oh, but she's clever." The Doctor said, pulling the middle section out of the model and turns it over to reveal electronics. "Fantastic."
"Is that a tribophysical waveform macro-kinetic extrapolator?" Jack asked.
"Couldn't have put it better myself."
"Ooo, genius! You didn't build this?" Jack asked, looking at Margaret.
"I have my hobbies. A little tinkering." Margaret said.
"No, no, no. I mean, you really didn't build this. Way beyond you."
"I bet she stole it." Mickey said.
"It is something she would do." Ruby said, agreeing with Mickey. "Yeah, I am childish. But I know better than to steal things."
"It fell into my hands." Margaret said.
"Is it a weapon?" Rose asked.
"It's transport. You see, if the reactor blows, the rift opens. Phenomenal cosmic disaster. But this thing shrouds you in a forcefield. You have this energy bubble, so you're safe. Then you feed it coordinates, stand on top, and ride the concussion all the way out of the solar system." Jack said, thinking of Margaret's plan.
"It's a surfboard." Mickey said.
"A pan-dimensional surfboard, yeah."
"So she walks to surf across the universe in that." Blake said, rolling her eyes. "How lame is that?"
"And it would've worked. Id have surfed away from this dead end dump and back to civilisation." Margaret said.
"You'd blow up a whole planet just to get a lift?" Mickey asked.
"Like stepping on an anthill."
"How'd you think of the name?" The Doctor asked.
"What, Blaidd Drwg? It's Welsh."
"I know, but how did you think of it?"
"I chose it at random, that's all. I don't know. It just sounded good. Does it matter?"
"Blaidd Drwg." The Doctor said, looking at Rose, Team RWBY, and me.
"And what does Blaidd Drwg mean?" Weiss asked.
"Bad Wolf."
"But I've heard that before. Bad Wolf. I've heard that lots of times." Rose said.
"Everywhere we go. Two words following us. Bad Wolf." The Doctor said.
"How can they be following us?"
"Nah, just a coincidence. Like hearing a word on the radio then hearing it all day."
"So, they finally noticed it following us after 12 chapters." Weiss said, crossing her arms. "And I noticed in the 8th."
"Weiss, you're just quick to notice the obvious." Ruby said, happily. "So, we're taking Margaret the Slitheen home."
"It does look like it." Blake said.
"Home? More like home alone." Yang said, coming up with another bad pun.
"Jared, you should come back to Beacon with us at some point." Ruby said, smiling. "We do like you."
"I will, after we drop Margaret home!" I said, excitedly. "Even if I don't like her."
"They have the death penalty. The family Slitheen was tried in its absence many years ago and found guilty with no chance of appeal. According to the statutes of government, the moment I return, I am to be executed. What do you make of that, Doctor? Take me home and you take me to my death." Margaret said.
"Not my problem." The Doctor said.
Tardis...
Night has fallen.
"This ship is impossible. It's superb. How do you get the outside around the inside?" Margaret asked.
"Like I'd give you the secret, yeah." The Doctor said.
"I almost feel better about being defeated. I never stood a chance. This is the technology of the gods."
"Don't worship me...I'd make a very bad god. You wouldn't get a day off, for starters. Jack, how we doing, big fella?" The Doctor asked, walking up to Jack.
"This extrapolator's top of the range. Where did you get it?" Jack asked.
"Oh, I don't know. Some airlock sale?" Margaret asked.
"Must've been a great big heist. It's stacked with power."
"But we can use it for fuel?" The Doctor asked.
"It's not compatible, but it should knock off about twelve hours. We'll be ready to go by morning."
"Then we're stuck here overnight."
"I'm in no hurry." Margaret said.
"We've got a prisoner. The police box is really a police box." Rose said, sadly.
"You're not just police, though. Since you're taking me to my death, that makes you my executioners. Each and every one of you."
"Well, you deserve it."
"You're very quick to say so. You're very quick to soak your hands in my blood, which makes you better than me, how, exactly? Long night ahead Let's see who can look me in the eye."
No one, including me looks Margaret in the eye.
(Open POV)
Game room…
"So, we're just keeping that thing locked up in the console room." Weiss said, as she's playing Super Smash Bros Ultimate with the rest of Team RWBY and Jared. "Why?"
"Because we need to." Jared said, getting a KO in Smash. "And I just killed Belle."
"Beauty and the Beast." Blake said. "Am I the beauty? And who's the beast?"
"Oh, your old partner in crime."
"Makes sense."
"What does?" Yang asked, as she knocked out Jared who is playing as Inkling. "Killed ya."
"Nothing." Blake said, sadly.
"I just don't like Margaret. But we've gotta get through this. All of us." Jared said, happily.
"So, what did you get me?" Yang asked, and Ruby drove into the room with a motorcycle. "Is that…"
"The latest bike." Ruby said, climbing off the bike. "Well, from this year. It's the top of the line."
Roald Dahl Plass...
Mickey looks at the water tower. Rose joins him.
"It's freezing out here!" Rose said, annoyed.
"Better than in there. She does deserve it. She's a Slitheen. I don't care. It's just weird in that box." Mickey said.
"I didn't really need my passport."
"I've been thinking, you know, we could go have a drink. Have a pizza or something. Just you and me."
"That'd be nice."
"And, I mean, if the Tardis can't leave until morning, we could go to a hotel, spend the night. I mean, if you want to. I've got some money."
"Okay, yeah."
"Is that all right?"
"Yeah."
"Cool. There's a couple of bars around here. We should give them a go. Do you have to go and tell him?"
"It's none of his business."
Tardis...
The Doctor watches Mickey and Rose on the scanner.
"So, what's on?" Jack asked.
"Nothing, just…" The Doctor said, lost in thought.
"I gather it's not always like this, having to wait. I bet you're always the first to leave, Doctor. Never mind the consequences, off you go. You butchered my family and then ran for the stars, am I right? But not this time. At last you have consequences. How does it feel?" Margaret asked.
"I didn't butcher them."
"Don't answer back. And neither should Weiss, both of you are known to answer back. That's what she wants." Jack said, looking at the Doctor.
"I didn't. What about you? You had an emergency teleport. You didn't zap them to safety, did you?" The Doctor asked, looking at Margaret.
"It only carries one. I had to fly without coordinates. I ended up on a skip in the Isle of Dogs." Margaret said, as the Doctor laughed a little. "It wasn't funny."
"Sorry. It is a bit funny."
"Do I get a last request?"
"Depends what it is."
"I grew quite fond of my little human life. All those rituals. The brushing of the teeth, and the complicated way they cook things. There's a little restaurant just round the Bay. It became quite a favourite of mine."
"Is that what you want, a last meal?"
"Don't I have rights?"
"Oh, like she's not going to try to escape." Jack said, scoffing.
"Except I can never escape the Doctor, so where's the danger? I wonder if you could do it? To sit with a creature you're about to kill and take supper. How strong is your stomach?" Margaret asked.
"Strong enough." The Doctor said, determined.
"I wonder. I've seen you fight your enemies, now dine with them."
"You won't change my mind."
"Prove it."
"There are people out there. If you slip away just for one second, they'll be in danger."
"Except I've got these." Jack said, holding up two bangles. "You both wear one. If she moves more than ten feet away, she gets zapped by ten thousand volts."
"Margaret, would you like to come out to dinner? My treat."
"Dinner in bondage. Works for me." Margaret said.
And so Jack is left to carry on mending the Tardis whilst the two couples go out for their dinners.
Kitchen…
"Explain to me why you want some more pancakes." Ren said, making some pancakes in the TARDIS kitchen. "You've already ate a ton of that today."
"Because you said that I can have cake today." Nora said, walking towards Ren. "You never said what kind."
"I thought you meant a cake. Like an actual cake for desert. Not pancakes."
"When do I not want pancakes?"
"When you want a cup of coffee. At least you didn't take things overboard."
"Like that one time when you would fill the hallway with pancakes." Jaune said, recalling what Nora would do at Beacon sometimes.
"Jaune, it happened more times than you can count." Pyrrha said, crossing her arms. "But you are right, Nora does things to the extreme, sometimes."
Bistro 10...
"Here we are, out on a date, and you haven't even asked my proper name." Margaret said.
"It's not a date. What's your name?" The Doctor asked.
"Blon. I am Blon Fel Fotch Passameer-Day Slitheen. That's what it'll say on my death certificate."
"Nice to meet you, Blon."
"I'm sure. Look, that's where I was living as Margaret. Nice little flat, over there, on the top. Next to the one with the light on." Margaret said, while the Doctor turns to look and she puts some powder from her ring into the his wine. "Two bedrooms, bayside view. I was rather content. Don't suppose I'll see it again."
The Doctor swaps the glasses over, "Suppose not."
"Thank you."
"Pleasure."
"Tell me then, Doctor. What do you know of our species?"
"Only what I've seen."
"Did you know, for example, in extreme cases, when her life is in danger, a female Raxacoricofallapatorian can manufacture a poison dart within her own finger." Margaret said, pointing her finger.
The dart flies and the Doctor catches it.
"Yes, I did."
"Just checking. And one more thing. between you and me." Margaret said, and they look around then lean forward so Margaret can whisper. "As a final resort, the excess poison can be exhaled through the lungs."
Margaret starts to exhale.
The Doctor uses a breath freshener on her, "That's better. Now then, what do you think? Mmm, steak looks nice. Steak and chips."
Mermaid Quayside...
"The Doctor took me, Jared, and Team RWBY to this planet a while back. It was much colder than this. They called it Woman Wept. The planet was actually called Woman Wept, because if you looked at it, right, from above, there's like this huge continent, like all curved round. It sort of looked like a woman, you know, lamenting. Oh my God, and we went to this beach, right. No people, no buildings, just this beach like a thousand miles across. And something had happened, something to do with the sun, I don't know, but the sea had just frozen. In a split second, in the middle of a storm, right, waves and foam, just frozen, all the way out to the horizon. Midnight, right, we walk underneath these waves a hundred feet tall, made of ice." Rose said, recalling what happened.
"I'm going out with Trisha Delaney." Mickey said.
"Right. That's nice. Trisha from the shop?"
"Yeah, Rob Delany's sister."
"Well, she's nice. She's a bit big."
"She lost weight. You've been away."
"Well, good for you. She's nice."
"So, tell us more about this planet, then."
"That was it, really."
Game room…
"Piranha Plant." Weiss said, looking at what Jared is playing as in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. "You're choosing that character to play as against me."
"Yup." Jared said, as Weiss chose Robin. "Oh, you chose that Fire Emblem character."
"Spamming the Smash button doesn't mean anything, you'll just lose."
"Ooo, I'm not playing." Yang said, placing the GameCube controller on the table. "I want to see if Weiss able to Robin some kills."
"She'll beat you up so good." Ruby said, agreeing with Yang.
"I can't wait to see this." Blake said, and she and Ruby placed the two GameCube controllers they were using onto the table.
Bistro 10...
"Public execution's a slow death. They prepare a thin acetic acid, lower me into the cauldron and boil me. The acidity is perfectly gauged to strip away the skin. Internal organs fall out into the liquid, and I become soup. And still alive, still screaming." Margaret said.
"I don't make the law." The Doctor said.
"But you deliver it. Will you stay to watch?"
"What else can I do?"
"The Slitheen family's huge. There's a lot more of us, all scattered off-world. Take me to them. Take me somewhere safe."
"But then you'll just start again."
"I promise I won't."
"You've been in that skin suit too long. You've forgotten. There used to be a real Margaret Blaine. You killed her and stripped her and used the skin. You're pleading for mercy out of a dead woman's lips."
"Perhaps I have got used to it. A human life, an ordinary life. That's all I'm asking. Give me a chance, Doctor. I can change."
"I don't believe you."
Mermaid Quayside...
"So, what do you want to do now?" Mickey asked.
"Don't mind." Rose said.
"We could ask about hotels."
"What would Trisha Delaney say?"
"Suppose. There's a bar down there with a Spanish name or something…"
"You don't even like Trisha Delaney!"
"Oh, is that right? What the hell do you know?"
"I know you, And I know her. And I know that's never going to happen. So who do you think you're kidding?"
"At least I know where she is!" Mickey said, angrily.
"There we are, then. It's got nothing to do with Trisha. This is all about me, isn't it?"
"You left me! We were nice, we were happy. And then what? You give me a kiss and you run off with him, Jared, and two teams from another universe, and you make me feel like nothing, Rose. I was nothing. I can't even go out with a stupid girl from a shop because you pick up the phone and I comes running. I mean, is that what I am, Rose, standby? Am I just supposed to sit here for the rest of my life, waiting for you? Because I will."
"I'm sorry."
Kitchen…
"This has got to be the most stupidest idea you ever thought of." Ren said, watching Nora build something out of scraps of metal. "And now you're stuffing my pancakes into them."
"I'm making a pancake launcher." Nora said, placing another pancake into the gun. "It would really tie this outfit together."
"You would choose this over a cup of coffee?"
"No...that's why I added a coffee function on it."
"Jaune, Pyrrha. Stop her!"
"Nora, we don't want to hurt you." Jaune said, walking up to Nora. "Give us the gun, please."
"I don't want to do this." Pyrrha said, pulling the gun Nora made towards her, and she caught it. "Thank you."
"Aww…" Nora said, disappointed. "You took it."
Bistro 10...
"I promise you I've changed since we last met, Doctor. There was this girl, just today. A young thing, something of a danger. She was getting too close. I felt the blood lust rising, just as the family taught me, I was going to kill her without a thought. And then I stopped. She's alive somewhere right now. She's walking around this city because I can change. I did change. I know I can't prove it…" Margaret said.
"I believe you." The Doctor said.
"Then you know I'm capable of better."
"It doesn't mean anything."
"I spared her life."
"You let one of them go, but that's nothing new. Every now and then, a little victim's spared because she smiled, because he's got freckles, because they begged. And that's how you live with yourself. That's how you slaughter millions. Because once in a while, on a whim, if the wind's in the right direction, you happen to be kind."
"Only a killer would know that. Is that right? From what I've seen, your funny little happy go lucky little life leaves devastation in its wake. Always moving on because you dare not look back. Playing with so many peoples lives, you might as well be a god. And you're right, Doctor. You're absolutely right. Sometimes you let one go. Let me go."
Mermaid Quayside...
"I'm not asking you to leave him, because I know that's not fair. But I just need something, yeah? Some sort of promise that when you do come back, you're coming back for me." Mickey said, and the ground shook.
"Is that thunder?" Rose asked.
"Does it matter?"
"That's not thunder."
Game room…
Jared is holding the Monado in his free hand, and he saw a vision of thunder coming down on the TARDIS, he then looked over at Team RWBY.
"What's wrong?" Ruby asked, looking at Jared.
Trouble." Jared said, running towards the console room with Team RWBY. "The extrapolator!"
Bistro 10…
"In the family Slitheen, we had no choice. I was made to carry out my first kill at thirteen. If I'd refused, my father would have fed me to the Venom Grubs. If I'm a killer, it's because I was born to kill. It's all I know. Doctor, are you even listening to me?" Margaret asked.
"Can you hear that?" The Doctor asked.
"I'm begging for my life."
"No, listen, shush."
The glasses begin to vibrate, then the plate glass window shatters. Customers scream.
Mermaid Quayside...
People flee the exploding street lights and windows. Rose runs.
"Oh, go on then, run! It's him again, isn't it? It's the Doctor! It's always the Doctor! It's always going to be the Doctor. It's never me!" Mickey said, angrily.
Kitchen…
Ren held up his hand for a moment, and he felt something was off, "We need to go."
"Go where?" Pyrrha asked, and Ren pointed towards the door.
"Console room?" Jaune asked.
"Let's go then!" Nora said, running out of the kitchen with the rest of Team JNPR.
Roald Dahl Plass...
Margaret can't keep up with the Doctor, "The handcuffs!"
The Doctor waits for Margaret, then takes it off.
"Don't think you're running away." The Doctor said, looking at Margaret.
"Oh, I'm sticking with you. Some date this turned out to be!" Margaret said, when energy is streaming from the Tardis into the sky.
"It's the rift. The rift's opening!"
(Jared's POV)
Tardis…
Things are going sput! Cracks open up in the plaza. I entered the console room with Teams RWBY and JNPR.
"What the hell are you doing?!" The Doctor exclaimed, entering the console room with Margaret.
"It just went crazy!" Jack said, terrified.
"It's the rift. Time and space are ripping apart. The whole city's going to disappear!"
Bang! Rose runs into the plaza and sees what is happening.
"It's the extrapolator. I've disconnected it but it's still feeding off the engine! It's using the Tardis. I can't stop it!" Jack said, flicking switches on the TARDIS console.
"Never mind Cardiff, it's going to rip open the planet." The Doctor said.
Rose enters, "What is it? What's happening?!"
"Oh, just little me." Margaret said, taking an arm out of her body suit and grabs Rose. "One wrong move and she snaps like a promise."
"I might've known." The Doctor said.
"I've had you bleating all night, poor baby, now shut it. You, fly boy, ice queen, put the extrapolator at my feet." Margaret said, tightening her grip on Rose's neck. The Doctor nods and Jack and Weiss obeys. "Thank you. Just as I planned."
"I thought you needed to blow up the nuclear power station." Rose said, recalling what the Slitheen said.
"Failing that, if I were to be arrested, then anyone capable of tracking me down would have considerable technology of their own. Therefore, they would be captivated by the extrapolator. Especially a magpie mind like yours, Doctor. So the extrapolator was programmed to go to plan B. To lock onto the nearest alien power source and open the rift. And what a power source it found. I'm back on schedule, thanks to you."
"The rift's going to convulse. You'll destroy the whole planet." Jack said.
"And you with it!" Margaret said, standing on the extrapolator. "While I ride this board over the crest of the inferno all the way to freedom. Stand back, boys. Surf's up."
The Tardis console cracks open and bright light hits Margaret.
"Of course, opening the rift means you'll pull this ship apart." The Doctor said.
"So sue me." Margaret said.
"It's not just any old power source. It's the Tardis. My Tardis. The best ship in the universe."
"It'll make wonderful scrap."
"So, what is that light?" Weiss asked.
"The heart of the Tardis. This ship's alive. You've opened its soul." The Doctor said, looking at Margaret.
"It's so bright." Margaret said.
"Look at it, Margaret."
"Beautiful."
"Look inside, Blon Fel Fotch. Look at the light."
Margaret relaxes and Rose gets free. Then she looks up at the Doctor, smiling.
"Thank you." Margaret said, disappearing into the light.
The empty bodysuit crumples onto the extrapolator.
"Don't look. Stay there. Close your eyes!" The Doctor said, closing the TARDIS console. "Now, Jack, come on, shut it all down. Shut down! Rose, that panel over there, turn all the switches to the right." Energy stops pouring into the sky. "Nicely done. Thank you, all."
"What happened to Margaret?" Rose asked.
"Must've got burnt up. Carried out her own death sentence." Jack said.
"She didn't." I said, leaning against the TARDIS console. "She's not dead."
"Then where'd she go?" Rose asked.
"She looked into the heart of the Tardis. Even I don't know how strong that is. And the ship's telepathic, like I told you, Rose. Gets inside your head. Translates alien languages. Maybe the raw energy can translate all sorts of thoughts." The Doctor said.
"Ooo, what's this?" Nora asked, finding a large egg with dreadlocks on the top inside the bodysuit. "Is that her?"
"Yeah, here she is."
"She's an egg?" Rose asked.
"What happened to her?" Weiss asked.
"She's been regressed to her childhood." The Doctor said.
"She's an egg?" Jack asked.
"She can start again. Live her life from scratch. If we take her home, give her to a different family, tell them to bring her up properly, she might be all right!"
"Or she might be worse."
"That's her choice."
"She's an egg." Rose and Ruby said at the same time.
"She's an egg."
"Oh, my God. Mickey." Rose said, running out and across the cracked plaza, back to Mermaid Quay where ambulances are taking away the injured.
Mickey is watching from the shadows as she goes up to a paramedic and asks a question. Mickey walks away. She returns to the Tardis alone.
"We're all powered up. We can leave. Opening the rift filled us up with energy. We can go, if that's all right." The Doctor said.
"Yeah, fine." Rose said.
"How's Mickey?"
"He's okay. He's gone."
"Do you want to go and find him? We'll wait."
"No need. He deserves better."
"Off we go, then. Always moving on…"
"Next stop, Raxacoricofallapatorius. Now you don't often get to say that." Jack said, happily.
"Now that's a mouthful." Yang said, smiling. "Raxacoricofallapatorious. We could just relax."
"We'll just stop by and pop her in the hatchery. Margaret the Slitheen can live her life again. A second chance." The Doctor said.
"That'd be nice." Rose said.
(Open POV)
Game room…
"I need to relax." Weiss said, sitting down in the couch. "A hot spring would be nice."
"Japan? Can we go there?" Ruby asked, excitedly.
"You want to relax as much as Weiss." Blake said, crossing her arms.
"I want to. I need a break! Everyone needs one! After a day like today."
"A break. The Doctor needs to turn off the brakes." Yang said, coming up with a bad pun. "A hot spring, do you consider them hot?"
"Yeah." Jared said, nodding his head. "I want to relax in Kyoto."
