The Earth Attributed Mana Stone was 10 kilometers north of the log cabin. This trip would have taken him nearly an hour before. Now it took less than ten minutes. Not only was his body enhanced to superhuman levels, his senses allowed him to find the most optimal path.
As he approached the stone, he felt a certain heaviness. Gravity had not changed, but a quality that could be felt in his soul.
It was located in the mountains in the Sanctuary. The terrain was very rocky, and the climb up the mountain was brutal, even for him. Halfway up the towering mountains, he found an opening. He could tell it was the right place as the 'heavy quality' was steadily increasing. The inside of the cave was very dark, but he could still make out a shape. An alter stood in the middle, with a dark brown stone floating above.
"There it is... this seems too easy, there must be some kind of trick..."
He started to approach the alter, then it appeared. It was a rocky 'thing'. It had long rock boulders for arms and legs, a huge Boulder for a torso, and a sphere like boulder for a head.
Ver was horrified. This thing, no, Earth golem, looked like it could easily kill him in one hit, not matter how strong his body had become, he was an ant before it. However, it appeared to be a low level 1 golem, so it did not outclass him too much.
The golem started to approach him at a surprising speed, raising its club like arms, slamming it at him at high speeds. Ver dodged to the side, but it pivoted its waist, it's club tracking Ver.
"Sh*t... it's much faster than it looks and it can pivot 360 degrees, luckily that impromptu military training helped me coordinate my body, plus my increased reaction time is the only reason I'm alive...".
As the club was about the smash into Ver, he formed his mana into a hand, slammed it down into the ground, propelling him forward, narrowly avoiding death.
Before the golem could charge him again, he ran to the alter, attempting to grab the crystal, however, he slammed his face against an invisible wall.
"Tisk risk, did you really think you could claim this treasure without a trial. Foolish child, power cannot be claimed without temperament, otherwise the strong nature of the elements will overwhelm you. Defeat the guardian or leave!".
Ver was shocked, then he let out a wry smile. He felt that claiming the crystals was too easy. However, he really had no way to defeat the golem. He was not strong enough to destroy the walls of the cave, nor could he try to lure it out as it would probably not leave its territory. His current mana could not even scratch it. As unwilling as he was, he had to leave.
He dodged the golem once more, then dived out of the cave, with nothing in pursuit.
He sighed in relief, but was disappointed. He could not practice spells as he had no element. There was not a shortcut to power at the moment. He needed to train.
He trekked back to the cabin reflecting on the battle, gleaning any insights possible.
" I rushed in too fast. I need to make sure to properly scout my targets next time. I need to hone the control of my mana, as I wasted too much energy and power..."
He soon reached the cabin and started training. He 'conveniently' found small head sized boulders near the cabin. He had suspicions, but that did not matter right now. He started to lift the boulders and started to juggle them, but he soon lost control.
"This will take a while..."
Next, he moved to a huge Boulder. He concentrated his mana into an arrow, and fired to at the Boulder, making a small dent...
"OH no.."
He had big dreams now that he was a mage, but now he realized how weak he was. He was a forced awakened, at the lowest level, with no spells. He had a long journey before he was a true mage weilding extraordinary power.
After steeling his reolve, he started his first hell week.
