Chapter 76 - THOMAS PROMISE CRISTA HE WILL TAKE HER TO CHURCH FROM NOW ON

The morning came ushering showers of rain hearing her mumbling something, kissing her lips.

"You are very brave and I love you so much, now you get in the washroom first. I will adjust the heater so the room will remain warm.

Come on you cannot lie down here the whole day. Mom and Dad have been out of their mind looking for you.

And they blame themselves, thinking they had lied to you. Mrs. Marva has not come out of her room.

And the men are still looking for you. You, my beautiful wife, are too subtle and have changed lots of hearts.

From now on I will take you to church on Sundays." Seeing how she turn and look at him in such a questionably way.

Thomas thought, 'I must see that she eat to put some fat into her body. I don't want when her brother comes she looking as though she is malnourish.'

Saying to her, "You miss church yesterday, and it was your first time. From now on I will make sure you don't miss another service."

It was only then her fingers work her magic, radiating that heat, as she strokes his face.

Seeing how alive she becomes generated more heat in her body, which diminishes the chill inside her.

The day was spent in each other company, which was just fascinating. We slept in each other arms, which I needed more than anything in the world, even more than she needed me.

We had an early dinner because I wanted to pass by the Police Station. Not telling her of his stop, he drives to the station asking her to join him.

Thomas had message Officer Jones, letting him know he was stopping by. Going to the desk Thomas asks for Officer Jones.

"Mr. Fortune, right?"

"Yes, Ma'am."

"Okay, please follow me, Officer Jones is expecting you. Noticing the way Christa look at him, Thomas pat her hand as he and Christa followed the Clerk to meet Officer Jones.

The clerk knocks on the door hearing him say to enter. When the Clerk open and said, "Sergeant Jones, Mr. Fortune is here to see you."

"Thank you, Officer Gilbert, Mr. Fortune please come in." Christa sees him indicate his hands to the seat saying, "Please have a seat."

Sitting holding Thomas's hand when it slightly tightened a little more than normal. Thomas pats her hand reassuring her that everything will be alright.

Hearing the Sergeant saying, "Mrs. Fortune, I see you are well now?"

"Yes, I am fine thanks, Sir."

"So how have you been keeping?"

"As I said I am fine, Officer Jones, is something the matter?"

"Not exactly, I just wanted to find out how you got your hand damaged?"

"Sir, how did you know my hand was damaged?"

Seeing him look at Thomas then at her once more. "Can I ask you something?"

"Yes Sir, anything."

"Did you know your husband was coming here this evening?"

"I am sorry, but after we leave home, we were going to his parent's home. I had no idea he had to stop by here, if that what you want to know?"

Christa look at Thomas wondering, 'What was going on?" Asking Officer Jones, "The Officer, has something happened, and you haven't answered my question?"

"I was getting to that, Mrs. Fortune, when you were unwell we visited your home. That's how we know you had a cast, and you were hooked on to an IV, which your husband had the doctor do when he attended to you on his visit. I was just worried that you might have been abused."

Thomas sees her stand up in a rage, stroking her hand, "Aye, it's all right the Officer is just doing his job, so sit and just answer him."

"Why did you bring me here?"

"Look, when you walk away and I could not find you after we had searched everywhere. Dad became very worried and went and made a report that you were missing.

After you return that night I didn't know so, Officer Jones came to visit and to let me know they didn't find you. When they see you they ask me to bring you in when you were better."

"So why didn't you tell me this before?"

"Sweetheart, you weren't well, but I didn't want the officer to feel I forget. So as we were going home and I decided to stop one time. I am sorry for not telling you."

"Did you know he was going to ask me these questions?"

"I am sorry, all he asked me was to bring you."

"Mrs. Fortune, we were worried you were being abused that's all, so tell me what happened?"

"Officer the truth is, I was half asleep and my mother-in-law came knocking at my door. She wasn't aware I was standing behind the door. And when I open the lock she pushes the door. I fell and my hand got hurt.

It wasn't anyone's fault just a mistake, now if you feel I am lying you can call her right now as we are here?"

"There is no need for that and I am sorry. I was just concerned seeing how you were."

"Thanks for your concern, but my husband takes good care of me. Now if that is all can we leave?"

"Mr. Fortune thank you for being faithful to your word. And concerning the other matter, we will discuss that another day."

"Yes, I will be here soon," Sergeant Jones hear when he asks her, "Honey, can you wait a minute outside for me?"

Seeing the nod, Christa step out of the office and waited outside, wondering, 'What he wanted to discuss with the Sergeant privately?'

'Was there a problem at the ranch while he was away? Oh God, I wonder who is it that wants to harm his animals? I know Paul was angry, but would he do an act like that? I know he loves animals just like Thomas and me.'

Recalling Papa's words of how Paul continues to ill speak her up to this day. "Lord, it has been five months and a week already, since we have gotten married.

The time is going so quickly. I should start buying the things for the baby. If only I could return home to visit the family.

But hearing Thomas saying December will be very busy, and just suppose I go alone, and when I reach home. I start feeling this chilliness, what will I do then?'
