Chapter 66 - THOMAS LAWYER CAME TO MEET HIM

Christa sits by the window and waits almost the entire night. Thinking, 'Thomas, should be home by now. He didn't tell me he will be away. Oh Lord, supposed something has happened to him?'

Hearing the clock bang hour after hour until sleep overpowers her entire body. It was not until the banging on the door came, that her eyes open to see it was after one in the afternoon.

Answering to let them know whoever it was that keep pounding on the door, she was awake. Knowing Mrs. Marva has a key, 'So who could it be?'

Opening the door only to see her mother-in-law, "Mom, what is wrong?"

"Where is Thomas, Christa?"

Christa notices how concerned she was and said, "I don't know mom, he left home yesterday morning to go and do some business, and I waited up late last night for him.

It seems he hasn't returned home as yet, but why do you need him, is Dad okay?"

"Never mind that now, you need to eat, so freshen up, and come downstairs."

Christa nodded but suspects something is wrong. Doing as she was told, as the thought struck her.

'Did someone bring them news of Thomas's whereabouts? Oh God has something happened to him? Is he hurt, was he in an accident?"

Christa felt as though her insides jolted with fear as if she was touched with an exposed electrical wire.

Then her head started spinning, having no choice Christa sat for a moment to catch her breath.

Speaking to herself, "Christa you are overthinking, if anything had happened to Thomas they would have told you, I am sure of it?"

Hearing a voice in her head saying, "You could be right, but it's the first time your Mother-in-law seems concerned about you? Well except for the time when you came from Church sick."

Replying to the voice, "That's true, well I shouldn't keep them waiting, so I better hurry up and go downstairs and hear what she wants. I am sure she wasn't concerned about my eating?"

When the voice in her head said, "I agree with you one hundred percent."

Christa replies, "But then if something had happened to Thomas, she would be pancaking and fretting up herself?"

Unable to believe her ears, hearing herself laughing, "You mean she will be blaming me, well who cares I am always the faulted on."

Christa hit her head, "Now you are losing it, you have started talking back to yourself?"

Walking down the stairs hearing voices coming out of the living room. Christa was curious, 'What is going on and who could it be that is speaking so loud and they seem very angry?'

Wanting to know exactly why there seems to be some sort of misunderstanding. "Mom, Dad what seems to be the matter?"

Seeing the woman turn around and looks at her from head to foot when Dad said. "Child, this young lady insisted to speak with Thomas."

"Dad, didn't you tell her that Thomas isn't home?"

"Yes! child, I did."

"Thanks, dad, I don't want you to worry, I will handle this matter." Saying to the young lady, "As you heard my husband is away on business, so can I help you?"

Christa notices the way her lip twitches then she said, "Thomas and I were supposed to meet yesterday on some business.

When he didn't turn up, I became worried knowing that this meeting was important."

"I am sorry, but he told me he was going on some business, just give me one minute please?"

Calling out to her father-in-law, "Dad, can you call Thomas, he has not returned since yesterday. I hope nothing is wrong? And when you get word from him, I will be in his study waiting."

Walking with the woman towards the study. "Now tell me if I can help in any ways to ease your frustration, seeing that you are very busy?"

Hearing her saying, "Look, he had recently put his business in our firm. And he was supposed to come in and put some signatures."

"Ma'am, did he know that he had to come to your office yesterday?" Christa looks her directly in the eyes when she asks.

Jenny looks at her thinking, 'She is no fool, but I wanted to see who Tom had married and to find a way for him to settle that court matter before the case date due to appear in court.

My rage and anger towards him hearing he got married made me act so recklessly, but I never thought anyone will know I kill his cow.

Now I am in a predicament, but I am sure I could convince him to drop the case before it reaches court.

And isn't she the same person that used to answer the phone each time I had called for him? I only hope she doesn't recognize my voice,' responding to her Jenny said, "Yes!"

"Ma'am, if he is aware that his signature is important to complete the documented work, then he will be there, I can assure you of that.

Maybe this business he attended yesterday was very important that he couldn't ignore."

"Maybe it is, but he should have called. I had to leave some unfinished business to be here because my superiors had taken his contract to a board meeting."

"I am very sorry, but tell me something?" Then Christa stop suddenly, thinking to herself, 'This smell fishy?'

Replying to her, "I hope you will reschedule another appointment and as soon as he reaches home I will relate the message to him."

"I am sorry, but I am very busy, I thought he must have forgotten that's why I came. If only I knew I was wasting my time?"

Christa sees her stop suddenly noticing how angry she has become, as the thought crosses her mind, 'Is she lying, is this one of Thomas women's friends?

If Thomas know he had an appointment he would never leave it undone. I am sure she is lying?'
