Christa thought, 'What is there to enjoy?' Shifting a glance at Thomas seeing the smile. Wondering, 'What he must be thinking about his decision now?'
Thomas notice when she glances at him. Having no choice he keeps smiling, but all he wanted to do was say thanks to Michelle as she leaves.'
At that very moment, the person Aliza hired to attend to all the wedding plans approaches us. "Sir, I will need to take the bride for a few minutes. So she can freshen up for a few more pictures to complete the wedding album."
Before he could say another word, Christa had already stood up and was ready to follow the wedding planner. She seems quite relieved and happy to flee from his side.
Taking a deep breath being glad for the opportunity to get away from everyone. Christa thought, 'Sylvia was right, now I have to do some serious thinking.
Before I wanted to get away from the house and these people. And that sounded good at the time, but now I jump from the pot straight into the fire.'
When the hairstylist said, "You are truly a good friend to Aliza."
Thinking, 'What choice did I have, it was the answer to the problem At least he humbled himself and confess to the act.
I am sure he has lots of women friends, and I know now I cannot return to Paul, I had made him a promise to remain a virgin until we get married.'
Hearing one of the people in the room saying, "I wonder what will become of all the women friends Thomas has?"
Turning to see who said that but the hairstylist holds her head firm, "Please stay still before you get burnt on your ear. Thomas will become blue with me, and it will be my reputation at stake."
Christa thought, 'I should have expected exactly that. This will be the talk of the town, and I have seen how he greeted that woman at the airport.
He certainly has a way with women. He is the type of person with a lot of pride in himself.
So marrying me at the spur of the moment had to be of great importance to save his family name.'
When another was going to make a comment the hairstylist said, "Will you two just zip it, I am tired and where is Jackson with the makeup kit?"
Christa thought, 'I must think up a plan quickly to send word home to Papa, Errol, and Paul, but what must I say to them?
With what had happened last night, accepting was the only choice I had. And an easy way to save my family name, but will they understand?
I must also be thankful that he did confess to me of what he had done. Someone else might have just ignored me as some poor hungry beggar and friend of their sister who was invited to their home.
And they would be right of course, I have no money, no place, and no job. Where could I run and hide, I don't belong here anyhow.
At least I am not going to be on the street now as a homeless beggar.
Hungry and starving for a morsel of food and worried about where I would be living.'
Hearing the wedding planner saying, "Now go and wash your face. And I don't want to see any more tears because your makeup will smudge badly."
When the wedding planner see Pat enter and said to sit down was going to attend to her. He said, "Pat will you just hold on for a minute until she washes her face, so you can do a fresh coat of makeup."
Sitting obediently she allows them to finish their task. Christa's mind was flooding with the day's events.
'Oh boy, his parents didn't look to thrill with his decision, always glaring at me. Especially when they were speaking to someone.
And why was it that those eyes seems to be piercing holes through me, as though it was entering into my very soul? I can't wait to get away from this place and out of this dress.
The beauty I saw when I first view the dress, seems to have disappeared, and now it's stifling me and it is very uncomfortable.'
"You can open your eyes now Mrs. Fortune," Pat looks on as she passes her hand over her face as though she was seeing this person for the very first time.
Pat thought, 'The transformation was overwhelming, knowing that Aliza's family was always in some magazine or the business page in the newspapers.
I have even outdone myself, I should get a few of her pictures to advertise in my saloon.'
Christa felt her limbs were stiff as she was led, by the wedding planner. She just went along with everything, she was told to do.
Smiling when told to, sitting when told to. Thomas did the same until he finally said, "That's enough."
"But Sir?"
"I said it's enough, my wife is tired and it is late."
Feeling his hold in her hand, "Let us leave this place, I feel so stifled in this suit and the place is hot."
Christa thought to herself, 'At least it is not I alone feeling this way.' Having no choice as he leads the way almost dragging her out to his van.
When the voice cries out, "Tom," he stops suddenly.
Turning with him having no choice because he was holding her hand so firm, "Maggie, what are you doing here?"
"How could you not tell me you were getting married, Tom?" Releasing his hold from Christa's hand, Thomas went to the young lady's side in just a few strides.
"Oh Maggie, it was so sudden, this was not planned and I was left with no other choice." Seeing the way he took her in his arms so lovingly.
"Don't cry please, come with me, we were going home. There I will explain everything to you."
Noticing the way the young lady was looking at her. Christa steps back giving them enough space.
Turning around knowing from deep within, 'She doesn't want to hear anything they were conversing about. Maybe he has to break off some sort of relationship.'
