A metallic roar pierced the air as Renee ran for what seemed like forever through the alleys.
She was tired and running out of breath as she cut around a corner hiding behind a parked car in the street.
She whimpered a bit as the sound of scrapping metal against cement stopped near the corner where she turned getting closer with a clank for every step. She cowered to try and hide herself as she saw the mechanical dog-like beast near the edge of the car from a store window.
Before it neared the rear of the car where Renee was hiding, it turned it's head sharply towards the opposite direction before disappearing back into the alley where she was chased from.
She ran and didn't stop until her car was in sight pulling herself into the driver seat.
Her fingers searching for something to calm her nerves with, finding her phone, she texts Ken quickly. Her pale face seemed drained and full of fear, and she sighed softly with worry, trying to keep her mind off of what just happened.
She'll explain everything to everyone else when things have settled down.
The phone still in her small cold hands as she tried to slow her breathing. After calming down, she stuck the keys in the ignition and turned the car on. Driving off quickly far from where her death almost happened, pushing back the horrible thoughts that filled her mind like a sandpit that emptied into a hole just to fill back up.
"There was no way that happened.." She thought to herself as she pulled a little too quickly into a lane of traffic causing a few angry glares and honks.
Renee saw a gas station and pulled into the parking lot, collecting her thoughts as she processed almost everything that led up to it. She didn't understand why it chased after her or why it suddenly gave up after almost catching her but she didn't want to think about what would have happened if she was caught by the large metal beast.
Realizing that her phone was ringing, she picked it up out of the cup holder. The screen was showing that Ken was calling as she hit the answer button.
"Are you okay, I just got your text saying something happened."
"Yes I'm fine now, a little shaken up and scared but overall I'm fine."
