Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

My name is Kim Jeon-il, and until a few minutes ago, I was just a normal 17-year-old student.

As the teacher announced the end of his period, we were supposed to wait for the next one, but that's not what happened.

Classmate #1: "Yo, the sky today is unusually dark, don't you think? I don't remember anything in the weather forecast about this sudden change." One of my classmates said, drawing the attention of the room to the window.

'Indeed, the news didn't mention anything like this.' I thought.

"Kyahhhhhh~" A scream of a girl pierced the air outside of our room. She ran back in with haste, a horrified look on her face and sweat dripping from her forehead.

She slammed the door shut and locked it, before saying anything.

"U-uh, how should I start? It may be hard to believe, but right now, our teacher who just left our room a few minutes ago is dead. And someone is eating him." She said to us.

After she said that, the whole class gave her a look of disbelief.

I also thought she was crazy.

Classmate #2: "Dafuq are you saying?" A male classmate of mine said as he walked forward and tried to open the door.

"No! Please don't!" The girl said as she tried to stop him from opening the door.

Classmate #2: "Don't mess with me." He said as he pushed the girl aside with brute strength, which she had no way to resist.

I watched all of this from the back of the room, calmly amused by the situation.

After the guy opened the door, he stepped outside and looked to his right.

What followed was him covering his mouth and rushing back inside, locking the door behind him. He had the same terrified expression as the girl, and he stood there like a statue.

It was at this moment that I knew something was seriously wrong. The looks on their faces were too real to be acting. If they were indeed acting, they wouldn't need to go to school with that talent.

Suddenly, the whole classroom was engulfed by confusion.

If the looks on their faces could be interpreted, they would say "What the hell are those two doing? Are they auditioning for a horror movie or something?"

Classmate #3: "I applaud you guys for that acting, that was really good. But that's not funny. If our teacher hears us talking about him being dead, we'll be in big trouble." A female classmate of mine said as she walked towards the door.

The guy was still in shock from what he saw.

Things happened too quickly as classmate #3 opened the door and stepped out.

"Kyahhhhhh!" She screamed and ran back in. But we were wrong to expect that. Instead, we saw our teacher jump on her and bite her neck.

It was at this moment that I knew this was not normal. We all knew it wasn't, but we still hoped that it wasn't happening.

Our female classmate who was the first to notice quickly shut the door again.

After that, the school bell rang, followed by a shocking announcement that cleared all our doubts.

"Mic check 1 2 3, mic test, ehem, can everyone hear me now?" The voice of our principal came from the single speaker in our room.

"I hope you can, at least those who are still alive. Anyway, my children, you must have already noticed the change in our surroundings. And yes, this is not a prank or a drill, this is real. Humans are eating humans. From what we have learned in a short time, this is happening all over the world. We don't have much information about what is actually happening, but anyone with enough common sense will know that those things are zombies. Yes, zombies. We aren't sure why or how, but that's what they are. Right now, what I want you to do is lock yourselves in your rooms and follow my instructions. We, the school officials, will find a way to keep you alive, I promise. With that, I'll end this for now. Please don't go anywhere, stay safe." The principal ended.

After that, the room was filled with noise. Some were shouting, some were panicking, some were crying. There were a few who were still calm despite the situation. Basically, different kinds of emotions were gathered in this small room.

My eyes lit up as I also felt mixed emotions. My gamer side was rejoicing with this sudden turn of events, a zombie apocalypse. But I was also scared, because if I died, then it was game over. I was also worried for my family.

'Whatever, let me find something that can help me in case anything happens.' I thought as I got up from my chair and disassembled the legs of my table.

I gripped one of them and swung it a few times before nodding in satisfaction.

"This should do it." I said as my classmates looked at me with confusion. Someone asked, "What are you doing?"

I smiled a bit and said. "It's a zombie apocalypse. Do you expect to use your bare hands to beat them? It's too risky to get close to them. The chance of you getting bitten is higher. Now get something to protect yourself instead of crying or something. Survival is our goal right now. Put your worries aside until we are sure of our survival. If we don't survive here, we will never see our family again."

My classmates were quite shocked by my behavior. I had always been really quiet, well that was just because I didn't feel the need to talk.

A few of my classmates started to disassemble the tables, until one by one, the number increased and all of us had something in our hands.

I walked towards the door.

"What are you doing?" Misha said. (She was the girl who first noticed the zombie thing.)

"Don't worry, I won't open the door." I said as I peeked through the glass window in the door.

Indeed, I saw our teacher feasting on the girl who went out of the room last. I didn't remember her name, which meant she wasn't important.

'Let me check what type of zombies they are.' I thought as I tapped the glass. Suddenly, the zombie's head looked at the direction of the glass for five seconds. He must have waited for another sound to occur. After five seconds, he resumed his meal.

'I see. So they are the usual sound-based zombies, huh?' I thought. But suddenly, a robotic voice sounded in my mind.

[Good day, survivors. 20% of the global population has turned into these creatures that you prefer to call zombies. And so, I have a little present for all of you survivors. With that, good luck and try your best to entertain me.]

Suddenly, a screen appeared in front of me.
