Chapter 4 - 02 Monstrous

"Look what we have here," a voice echoed as heavy steps came nearer, "You have a companion, huh? Is she your girlfriend? Hmmm, what a lucky four-eyed guy you are."

I wrapped the bandage around his arm and tied it carefully. The place went silent, nothing could be heard except the sounds coming from returning the kit inside my bag.

The nerd gripped onto my left shoulder firmly, which made me raise my head to see him. 'Why is that face? I have done a good deed to him.' He looked annoyed. "What? Your wound will heal just fine. Nothing to worry about," I assured him.

"Then, do not you worry about the situation where we are in now?" he asked, puzzled by my reaction. "Miss, we are surrounded."

"I know."

"Oh man, they have succumbed to their own world. Are we watching a romantic movie? I forgot to buy popcorn."

'How childish,' I smirked, 'Could not think of a better punch line for this kind of scenario?' I sighed and stood up.

Just like their low and thick voices, with those huge muscular bodies, their appearances were unsightly. If not for the school uniforms on them, I would have mistaken them as fugitives.

"Her curves and skin are perfect. Why not let the guy go but take this girl instead? We can—" As they took a glimpse of my face, recognition and fear flooded their eyes. "—y-you—!" They ran away as fast as they could.

Again, I sighed. "Eh . . . I just wanted to say 'hi'. Why did they go away?" I stared at the nerd for answers but he was too astonished. "Hey, did you bite your tongue? Speak."

"They saw a monster, maybe?" he replied and chuckled. He shook his head and stood up as well. "What a joke," I scoffed, 'Is he implying I am a monster?'

Out of that tease, I forcefully pinched his wound to make him flinch. When he was going to shout for the pain, with his partly opened mouth, I swiftly punched his jaw. There, he bit his tongue.

"It hurts! Hurting me three times with two moves, how monstrous you can be," he told.

"Do not blame me. It was your fault in the first place," I countered a satisfying tease, "And 'you got bullied and almost died on your first day here, how weak and foolish you can be'."

"Ah, so you knew I am a transferee." I nodded in response, "I have never seen you before."

I expected that I could tease him more, I was wrong. This nerd was great at hiding but he sure was fast to unveil his cover. 'He got me to help him bandage his wound, huh? I feel bad for my first aid kit for touching his skin and blood.'

"We meet again, Lex." He smiled after letting his broken glasses fall on the floor from his left hand. On the opposite, I turned grim. He succeeded in playing me this time. 'Uh, you are such an actor, Ergo.'

Unlike me, this filthy guy underwent tremendous training. Holding my waist and hand to pull me closer is too easy for him. His eyes stared down on my lips, "Can I?"
