It's been one year since Mira had her quirk identified and it's been a very productive one, to say the least.
To start with, after saying goodbye to the Todoroki's and Aizawa, she made good on her promise and drew a few pictures of their mother when she got home. Both of her siblings were grateful, and they put a few around the apartment.
A few days later, after sorting through her new abilities and information stored in her head, she began working on a new project that would hopefully bring in some money to her siblings. She called it the Hoi-Poi Capsule. It was a neat little invention that made use of microtechnology to shrink and store objects in a little capsule one could carry around anywhere.
She had already been working on a concept similar to one, but it was mostly for fun and she hadn't thought it was actually possible. It was an idea that flashed across her mind often for as long as she could remember, but she didn't realize it was because of her quirk. She was excited to finally have the last piece to the puzzle and start working towards something great.
At least that's what would have happened if she hadn't run into two major roadblocks along the way. The first obviously being money to actually make one, and the second being arguably the more important one. Human nature.
Mira may be young and a bit naïve, but she was at least aware that building something with the potential to transport and an entire armory in your pocket was just asking for trouble. Of course, she had methods to ensure no one else could copy the technology and she could decide what she wanted to convert into a capsule but that led back to the fundamental problem.
She was only a child at the moment. Aside from her brother, she didn't really have a way to protect herself should she make something so handy. She knew if she made it, she'd have no end of villains trying to kidnap her to force her to work for them. She knew her brother was strong, but even he couldn't protect her from everyone.
So for now, she put that idea on hold. She'd come back to it after she had a way to guarantee her safety. She was sure it'd be hard to kidnap her if she were both strong and famous enough. All the more reason to become a hero, it seems.
That left her to deal with the first problem, but she really didn't have many ways to go about that. That is, until she realized she was thinking too big at the moment. She needed to start smaller and branch out a bit more. It's not like she was only good at mechanical engineering, even if it's one of the things she liked the most.
After a few weeks of ruminating, she figured the easiest thing for her to do would be to make a game. Something simple enough to make by herself while also holding the potential to bring in lots of money. She narrowed down the options in her head and pulled out two potential games that she was sure would make a lot of money for her.
The first one, Pokemon, she liked because of the marketability and relation to monsters, but she felt she wasn't yet in a position to deal with such things just yet. So she went with the second option, it was the simplest to make but held infinite potential. After a few weeks of coding, bribing a few people with healthy sweets to make a few sounds for her, and getting all the copyrights and other paperwork sorted out with the help of her brother, she was ready.
She released the game known as Minecraft to the world.
The game almost immediately blew up with millions of downloads worldwide. The upkeep for the game was rather simple, and she used a bit of the money that came in the first month to set up multiplayer servers. It was after that decision that the game finally started taking off in full force.
She was honestly a little overwhelmed by the whole thing. She clearly hadn't thought things through fully as now she was getting constant requests and invitations from different companies looking to acquire the game from her and from various media outlets wanting an interview with the mysterious creator of the game. She was thankful she had the foreknowledge to use an alias or else she didn't think she'd even be able to start school the next month without hiring some bodyguards or something.
It surprised her siblings, to say the least, after learning she was the creator of the game. Lisa was happy they no longer needed to worry about their finances anymore, so their brother didn't have to work as hard. While Elfman was just happy the rest of the world recognized his little angel's greatness.
He was actually ready to announce who she was to the rest of the world, but thankfully both Lisa and Mira were able to convince him otherwise.
Even with the extra money, they decided to stay in their apartment since it was fairly cheap and they didn't require that much space. They did rent an extra one directly under them as office space for Mira at her insistence, but other than that, they mostly saved the money.
Mira honestly hadn't expected the game to blow up like it did. She only wanted to invent a few things to bring in money for her siblings, but now that she had accomplished that goal she didn't really need to do that anymore. She could now focus on school and her own research.
And by school, she meant making friends. After all, she already had the knowledge to get several PhDs in several subjects, so she wasn't exactly worried about her studies. Shoto was being homeschooled, and she wasn't invited over as much as she used to be, so she had to make some new friends. And that she did.
The first friend she made was actually the boy who lived in the same apartment building as her. As it turns out, that boy was actually a girl! Midoriya Izumi was her name. She had a pretty androgynous look to her, and she was often confused for a boy, so she had gotten used to it.
Mira had only found out because they coincidentally met at a store once and they saw Izumi's mother trying to get her to wear a skirt. Apparently, the girl prefers pants because she heard heroes don't wear skirts. After having that misunderstanding cleared up, Elfman no longer had a problem with her seeing the girl and they became quick friends.
The girl practically worshipped heroes, especially All Might, and she loved to analyze quirks, so the two had a lot in common on that front. Mira had always had a fascination with quirks and how they worked and loved to research them on her own. Izumi wasn't so much interested in how they worked and was more interested in what they could do and when they should do it.
The two had a lot of interesting discussions on their own, and eventually, Izumi grew close enough to introduce Mira to her other friends once they started attending school together.
Izumi's friends were Bakugo, Tsubasa, and Sakaki. Mira's first impression of Izumi's friends was just a bunch of delinquents. Maybe that was a bit too harsh, but it wasn't far from it, especially that Bakugo fellow. Interestingly enough, Tsubasa was actually the grandson of the same Dr. Tsubasa that examined her when she got her quirk.
Izumi's friends were a group of jerks, and she honestly didn't understand how they could have been friends. Bakugo actually had the nerve to call Izumi useless right in front of her! Mira wasn't starting to think her brother was right in keeping her away from boys if they were all like this. Well, Shoto was fine but he might actually want to be a girl so she wasn't sure he counted.
After Bakugo pushed Izumi and called her names, that was the last straw for Mira. She forced Bakugo and his goons to apologize to Izumi. At first, they saw nothing wrong, and it didn't help that Izumi tried to defend him, but Mira would have none of that. She didn't think he was so amazing.
After she said that he tried to attack her with his newly awakened explosion quirk, completely forgetting all the rules they give in the quirk counseling sessions once a week. Mira on instinct dodged his sloppy attack and without thinking, pointed her finger at him and turned him into ice cream since she thought he needed to cool down a bit.
She knew he could still hear her, so while everyone else was freaking out a bit; she threatened to eat up right then and there if he didn't apologize. She didn't notice her eyes subtly shift to red from their usual blue while she licked her lips menacingly.
She then undid the transformation with another beam and Bakugo swiftly apologized to Izumi with tears in his eyes. He also vowed to get his revenge before running off. Not that it was Izumi's concern.
After that event, Izumi and Mira grew a lot closer together and spent almost every day with each other. They also still hung out with Bakugo, much to Mira's confusion, but after a while, she could see that he wasn't that bad of a kid. He just had an enormous head since he thought his quirk was pretty amazing.
He tried to challenge her a few times but she always beat him with or without her quirk thanks to her brother giving her a few self-defense lessons after her game blew up.
That was another thing. Apparently, both Izumi and Bakugo liked her brother quite a bit. He always had an upbeat attitude and had strength that few heroes were currently capable of rivaling. If he really did start his own agency he'd easily make it into the top 10 heroes. The only thing keeping him out of the ranking officially was that he was still technically a sidekick, thus didn't qualify. Some took to calling him the eternal sidekick but he took it with pride rather than embarrassment.
Mira was sure she could get him to go solo if she wanted, but one perk with being a sidekick was that he could come home more often so she didn't feel the need to do something like that.
A few months later Izumi had been diagnosed quirkless, and it was an immense blow to her. Mira honestly didn't know what to say to her, but once she asked if she could still be a hero, Mira supported her 1000%! Mira was now determined to find a way to help Izumi become a hero.
She would either help her become the first quirkless hero, or she would figure out a way to get her a quirk. She figured it shouldn't be impossible to artificially create or copy quirks. In fact, the more she thought about it, the more it seemed possible.
It would take a while, but she wouldn't stop trying until she made her friend happy. These were the thoughts going through her head as the group headed towards the house of their friend Tsubasa. He had invited them over to play Minecraft together, much to Mira's embarrassment and joy. She liked to see others enjoy the game she made, but it was still pretty embarrassing at the same time.
Dr. Tsubasa, who came to pick up his grandson, accompanied them. He still seemed pretty bored, like the last time she saw him last month. She had finally been cleared from the monthly visits last month after a full year had passed with no issues.
This year she celebrated her birthday with all her friends, including Shoto who she hadn't seen for a few months. Things seemed a little weird between Izumi and Shoto when they met, but Mira didn't mind much since it didn't seem like they were fighting. They both kept sitting awfully close to her, but it was fun hanging out with her two best friends so it didn't matter.
"Hmm, what do we have here? Say, by any chance is one of you named Mira?" A strange man in a black suit who seemed to be looking for her suddenly stopped the small group of six. She knew it was only a matter of time before one of those "investors" found out where she lived, but she didn't think they would stop her so far away from her home.
That said, even though she thought the man in front of her was just another overzealous investor after her game, Mira had a bad feeling about the man in front of her. The weird grin on his face as he looked right at her sent a chill down her spine.
It reminded her of that time she was bit by that mysterious shadowy lady over a year ago. As her legs began to shake, Mira realized what she was feeling, was pure fear.
