Chereads / True love (Reddie) / Chapter 5 - Goodbye Stanley

Chapter 5 - Goodbye Stanley

After a few weeks of everyone knowing, Stan has some problems at home.

His family was Jewish, extremely religious.

And once they found out Stan was gay, they basically disowned him. Stan only left his room for going out, food and the bathroom cause that's what his parents wanted. They didn't care what he did either. They made him wash his own clothes and basically do everything for himself.

He spent most nights as somebody else's house.

Richie and Bills parents were fine with it, Richies more because they don't really care, but Bills were really understanding about everything Bill talked to them about.

Eddies mom was a bitch about it but soon grew to her sons lifestyle. He was basically the daughter she never had.

But back to Stan.

He became more distant from everyone even though he spent all his time around them, its like he suddenly had all these secrets he couldn't tell anyone. Of course he was happy he finally told his parents and he was proud of himself but his parents weren't proud and that made him... depressed

After a few months of going back and forth from his friends houses he just stopped. He didn't go to the clubhouse, he didn't go school, he didn't hang out with them, he didn't even go to his bird watching spot. And most importantly he abandoned his friends, his boyfriend...

Bill had enough of not seeing Stanley anymore and went over to his house. He knocked on the door loudly so Stan would hear him from his room. To his surprise Stans mom opened the door. His mom was upset, really upset. Bill looked around the door to see Stans dad in the same state. "I-I-s Stan h-here?" He asks in his usual stutter

"Oh uh S-Stan," his mom cried, "Stans not here"

"Oh... w-w-when will he be b-b-back?"

"Oh uh... I don't know how to tell you this..." Bill immediately knows what Stanley's mom is about to say, "he uh... he's dead..."

Bill runs as fast as he can, trying not to cry. He gets to Richies house and before Richie can say hi Bill hugs him as tightly as possible and breaks down in tears.

"B-Bill? What's going on?" Richie whispered

"S-s-s-stans d-d-dead!"

The words echoed through Richies head, Dead, he thought maybe he didn't hear what Bill said properly, "Stans what?"

"DEAD! He's gone Rich!"

Richie sits on his couch, he doesn't know what to do or say.

"D-do the others know?" He asked after a while of silence

"N-no"

"We have to tell them, we can't let them figure out over some school rumours or something..." Richie said trying not to cry, he failed.

A few days pass and all the losers, minus Stan, are in the clubhouse.

"Have any of you seen Stan lately? He was supposed to help me study for a test but never came." Eddie mentioned.

"Uh about Stan..." Richie murmured, "Stans... gone"

"Oh... when will he be back?" Beverly asked.

"That's the thing... he's uh... gone gone..." Richie added.

The losers look at him confused

"What do you mean?" Ben asked after nobody else clearly wasn't going to.

"He's dead!" bill shouted.

Everyone just stands where they are and look over at Bill and Richie, everyone just starts crying.

Richie walks over to Eddie to try stop him from crying but starts to cry himself, But Bill he cant cry, he's cried too much, he has no tears left to cry.

A few hours later they head home, Eddie spent the night at Richies as he didn't want to be alone, and honestly neither did Richie.

Everything just went downhill from there, there were more arguments, more fights and more lonely days in the losers club. The only three people who really got along was Richie, Eddie and Beverly as they could all talk to each other about feelings, they all understood each other, but the other three slowly drifted further and further away from each other until Bill said something, "this isn't what Stan would want!" He yelled, his stutter apparently gone, "Stan would want us to all be here for each other!"

Everyone looked at each other guilty.

"S-Stan w-would want us to be h-happy!" He yelled, his stutter appearingly back.

It was the day of the funeral for 16 year old Stanley Uris. They all walked inside of the crematorium and saw pictures of Stan all around, but one stood out the most.

The picture was taken by the losers. The one picture they have of him smiling. Stan never really liked having his picture taken, he wasn't very photogenic.

The funeral was short, but it was the longest nightmare any of the losers have had, even though they fought a demon clown.

Bill visits Stans grave every single day after school. The rest of the losers tag along sometimes, they don't like the graveyard. They didn't like going anywhere near the graveyard, but they all had no choice, even though they didn't want to think this, they had to as the graveyard is Stans new home. None of them ever said it aloud but they all thought it atleast once, even Bill.

Its been a month since the funeral, the losers are finally being happy again, finding ways to cheer each other up. 1993 obviously was not a good year for them, but they knew they could change it all around.

Summer was finally back, they avoided the places Stan liked the most and did their own things, and within a few weeks, they didn't think about Stanley for more than a few days.

Everything turns out in the end, they always kinda knew Stanley was depressed, they tried their best to cheer him up, but it's the problems they didn't know about that killed him, they avoided Stanley's parents everywhere they could.
