Chapter 42 - 2001

SURELY, Joshua won't remain a little boy forever, it was time for him to begin pre-school.

Another problem has risen and Aunt Rachel can't help this time.

Education was every child's right, but neither Liz nor Spencer had the time for Joshua. Liz obviously can't be late for work and Spencer for school.

Who would get him ready for school?

Who would take him to school?

Who will bring him back from school?

Who would help him with his homeworks?

I must say, this problem was worse than the first.

"I can't leave my beauty sleep to get Josh ready for school-"

"Beauty sleep!--"

"What's - your - problem?!"

"He's your son Spencer!"

"You're his mother!"

"He can't spend all day at home alone and he can't at school, of course school has closing hours!"

"I can't leave my school!"

"My boss won't allow me to leave work!"

"Something has to be done!"

"Okay fine! Let's get a maid!"

"Maid?! Hell no!"

"What's wrong with a maid?"

"I-Don't-Want-A-Maid!"

"Damn you Spencer!"

Knock Knock. And there was a knock at the door, Liz was in no mood for a guest now. She needed to cool down her brain, before she lost it.

It was Greg; "Hey Spencer. How y'all?" Greg said coming in.

"Fine" Spencer mumbled.

"Oh no. I had screams coming out from this house. Is everything really fine?" Greg asked.

"It is" Spencer mumbled again and Liz walked in.

"Oh my-- look at you Liz! Have you been fighting?" Greg asked. There was no reply from her, and he continued; "Something is wrong. You can't hide it from me Spencer" Greg concluded and Liz went to the room.

She gave up, she couldn't talk to anyone at the moment.

"No Greg. It's about Josh's issue" Spencer opened up to Greg.

"And what about Josh?" Greg asked.

"She wants us to get a maid for him" He replied.

"And..."

"She's the mother of the child for Christ's sake. She should take on her responsibility"

"And you're the father Spencer. You need to provide the needs of your son and wife. And what about that maid suggestion?"

"Don't tell me you're buying that"

"I actually know one" he took the cup of vodka Spencer handed him and watched as Spencer gulped the remaining bottle dry.

Spencer knew very well that something had to be done about this issue, but he won't get a maid alright, he took another bottle.

As a friend, Greg knew when Spencer was tensed up. He always had this habit of trying to get drunk.

"I don't want a maid taking care of my son" he repeated again and again. Liz was listening to the conversation from the room, hoping Greg would help out.
