Chapter 11 - Betrayal and Deception

Vasillis did not bother riding the carriage and just rode one of the horses of his men. He hurried back to Capella at the speed of light the moment his head finally took in the information that it was Alexandria's butler who came to the tree before him.

He does not know why he felt so mad, it was as if he was betrayed, or perhaps he was feeling an emotion that Alexandria should be feeling by now. Bastien Cross would not go to that tree for no reason, he must have known that Vasillis would go to the tree and went ahead of him.

"He must be hiding something, he must be." He muttered as he made the horse go faster.

Bastien Cross must have known something that was in the place and hid it, that must be why they could not find anything at all. He gritted his teeth upon thinking of the possibility that Bastien Cross, the servant Alexandria thought she could trust, would be involved in her disappearance.

'Just what in the world was buried there, for him to go and get it so it would not be seen?' Vasillis thought. His head was full of guesses and it was a mess. All he wanted to do was get in the Midford manor to find him as soon as possible.

Before he left the manor, he heard that Bastien Cross would leave after the lady he served had disappeared, but now that he found out that someone was still there ordering him, then he must still be serving the Midfords.

After a while, he arrived at the Midford manor. He unmounted the horse and marched towards the front door in a hurry but the two guards blocked his way, "Lord Vasillis, for what reason did you come here?"

"I am not in the mood for questions, let me in." he said, putting emphasis on every word he uttered.

"We cannot do that, Lord Vasillis. We must speak with the Master first before letting you-"

"Move!" Vasillis exclaimed.

The two men looked at each other and shook their heads, "The Master had ordered not to let you in without permission." they insisted, not letting him in despite the obvious fury on his face.

A crease formed between the lord's eyebrows, he did not make his way in any longer and just left without a word. He had no choice but to go through the back again with the help of the lady of Millington.

He caught a shadow of a man from the corner of his eye and he turned to the side, it came from the direction where he always goes to reach Lady Millington. He immediately walked at a faster pace and followed whoever it was.

The man suddenly stopped and looked at him without turning around, the squinting Vasillis widened his eyes upon realizing that it was the butler he needed to see. "Bastien Cross!" he yelled but the man continued walking.

Vasillis went faster to catch up to him but when he returned his gaze, the butler was already gone and he saw him about to enter the door, "Bastien Cross!" he yelled again but the door was already closed.

Vasillis was about to follow the butler when a lady stopped in front of him with surprise plastered on her face, "Sir Vasillis?" she called.

He looked at the woman and slightly bowed, "Miss Millington…"

"I did not expect to see you so soon."

"As do I, I did not expect such information from an old lady in the place you mentioned," he responded.

The lady of Millington looked at Vasillis when he mentioned an old lady, 'Could it be Elois Ingram?' She thought. The only old lady she knew at that place was Elois Ingram so her guess must be right, "Is that so…" she muttered, not telling him that she knew who it was.

"I need to go, I must have a talk with the butler, Bastien Cross." Vasillis said.

The Lady of Millington watched as the childhood friend of Alexandria disappeared behind the door of the back of the manor. She turned around and had a mix of worry and confusion on her face as she looked at the man sitting not too far away from where she was, Vasillis was in such a hurry that he did not even notice the person.

She looked at the man with eyes that was looking for an answer to her questions but the man just stared at the door where Vasillis went in and shrugged.

Vasillis saw the back of the man as soon as he walked inside. The butler was no longer walking away from him as if he was just waiting for him.

"It has been a while, Lord Vasillis." the butler greeted with a smile, "I found us a place where we could talk in peace and secrecy."

Vasillis clenched his fist as he met with the gaze of the butler, "Were those also the words you used to talk to Alexandria alone so you could do something to her without anyone knowing?"

The smile on the butler's face vanished, "What are you trying to imply, Lord Vasillis?"

"What did you do to Alexandria? Where did you take her?"

"Such wild accusations, Lord Vasillis. Even a child knows nothing is true without proof."

The butler was right, he has no right to accuse him just from a guess because of a woman seeing him dig up secrets. But he wanted to ask the butler so he could observe his reaction. Even if he did not do anything to her, then why…

"Why did you betray her?"

Before the chaos,

Alexandria stared at the butler who was kneeling in front of her. The smirk on her butler's face would have looked even better if it was removed, she thought. But she knows he was telling the truth. The butler wanted amusement rather than just power, she had already figured out that he would choose her.

But for how long?

Alexandria sat down on her seat while Bastien Cross was still holding her hand. She moved her hand and placed it on his face, cupping it to get it closer to her. So the butler could take a closer look at her face, "Bastien Cross, remember the face of your master." she said.

"Not my father nor Alexander...but I."

Keeping a blank face, her hand gripped his face slightly tighter, "I know how great you are when deceiving people, but if you ever try to deceive me," she said with a warning in her tone, "I will make sure you regret it."

The butler laughed, "It is impossible for me to be able to deceive a woman like My Lady." he said. "If it is deception, no one…"

"Would be able to do it the way you would," he whispered.

Alexandria stared at the butler and slowly pushed his face away, "Do not betray me, Bastien Cross. If you do,"

"I will make you fall deeper than six feet under."
