Chapter 1 - Love and Chaos

Alexandria has grown tired of everything. She was tired of running after her brother, she was tired of doing all she could just to obtain the attention of her family.

In this century, women have no worth other than to live in the luxury of their family, the same family who looks down upon them for being someone they cannot be. It was stupid, or so Alexandria thought.

Alexandria had always found it moronic that women are treated that way. She believed that it was no fault of the girls that their parents did not do great enough in their intercourse, making them unable to create a boy.

Alexandria did not want to live while being controlled by the people who brought her to life. If she will only live her life the way others would want it, then she sees no point in continuing to live. Every year that passes, she keeps hoping to find the purpose for living in a world that does not want her.

The lady from the House of Midford did not want to live while being controlled by the people who brought her to life. If she will only live her life the way others would want it, then she sees no point in continuing to live. Every year passes with her hoping to find a purpose for living in a world that does not want her.

She was a woman who knows exactly how the world works and for her, nothing is worth having affection for. But, be that as it may, Alexandria was once a sweet little girl who loved no one other than her brother.

"Brother!" a little girl called out, rushing to catch up with her brother, just as she always had. He was on his way to see their parents, but as soon as the boy heard his sister's voice, he turned to her with a smile.

"Yes, princess?"

The little girl had a tight grip on the paper she was holding as she looked up to her brother in a shy manner, hesitating to show it to him, "Brother, what did you draw?" Alexandria asked, wanting to see her twin's work first.

Alexander, who was a few inches taller than she was, took out his paper and showed it to his sister. It was a drawing of a man and a woman. Even without detailed features, Alexandria knew at once who they were. It put her mood to the lowest but she tried to hold back the frown that was about to form on her face.

The style of his drawing was evidently made by a child, nevertheless, the way he drew it was different from how other children draw. He has talent in arts, a few lessons and he might be able to draw even better than the others.

"It is our mother and father," her brother answered with a smile as he showed the drawing. The boy must have noticed the expression of his sister as she lowered her head to look at her own drawing, "Why? What is yours, little princess?" he asked, curious to know what Alexandria had drawn.

"N-nevermind. It is nothing..." the little girl muttered and put both of her hands on her back, hiding the paper.

Alexander let out a chuckle and approached his sister, "There is no need to be shy, let me see." he said and reached for the paper.

He then looked at the girl's drawing and a smile formed on his lips when he saw that it was a drawing of the two of them holding hands.

He approached Alexandria who was still lowering her head and ruffled her hair. "You're messing my hair up, brother..." she said in a low voice.

"I love you, my dear sister."

With words as sweet as that, the little girl should have been glad, but for some reason she felt uneasy, suddenly worrying what could happen in the future. "You say that but wouldn't you also leave me? Hate me?"

"What?" Alexander asked, surprised. He never expected such words to leave his sister's mouth. Where did she get that idea?

"Mother said changes are inevitable and nothing will truly remain. You will change, everyone will change. Everyone will leave, even—even you…" her gaze dropped to the floor, trying to stop her tears from forming. "Brother, are you also going to leave? Please don't leave me."

With the sudden urge to pat her sister's head, he did so and hugged her afterwards. "Do not worry, I will never leave you."

Alexandria was too innocent at that time, of course, since she was only a child then. She was too young to see how cruel the world could be and ended up believing that nothing could ever separate them.

"Really? You won't?"

"I swear with my life, you should as well. Let's make a promise to never leave each other, no matter what happens." Alexander smiled as he raised his pinky finger and the twins made a swear.

If only it could always be like that.

Alexander and Alexandria, the twins of Midford, had an inseparable relationship and the thought of leaving a twin behind has never crossed their minds.

Just when was it? When did a rift start to form between the two of them?

They heard their parent's call and immediately went to where they were. "A while ago, the tutor made us draw, Father," The boy said.

Father put down the newspaper he was reading and turned to my twin with a smile, "Really? Let me see." Father said, looking only at her brother, looking only at his 'son'.

The man showered him with endless praises just for a drawing he had made, complimenting him without even bothering to look at the cowering little girl with her drawing. It was as if his daughter did not exist.

Alexandria fought back the tears forming in her eyes from falling, she cannot let their father see her crying. He already hates the fact that she was born a girl, even more so if he saw how weak she was.

The little girl was clenching her fist. Without knowing that she...was already crumpling the drawing of her brother holding her hand.

What was there to wonder about anyway? The two of them were identical twins. Even though they share the same face, there is still a huge gap of differences between the siblings.

Alexander Midford. The one who always smiles, is calm in all situations, could immediately find solutions to any problem, and always has everything under his control at such a young age. He could do anything without difficulty, smart, and most of all...a boy. A boy that their family needs to become the heir. A boy that everyone liked.

Meanwhile, the other child.

Alexandria Midford. The one who rarely smiles, the only times where she could be seen smiling was whenever she was with her brother. She is a smart child, shy, and always preferred to be left alone. The one who always follows after her twin brother like a shadow, and...a girl. A girl that has no value and what the family does not need. A girl that no one knew.

In this world, there was no one we could truly trust.

But for Alexandria, her twin brother was her life. Alexander was the only one she put her trust in. Every single day, her brother made her feel the love that she was yearning to have from their parents, their family. There was not a day where Alexander failed to reassure her that he will never leave and that he will always be by her side.

However, it was impossible for someone innocent, kind, and akin to an angel to exist in this world. People who have never done bad deeds, people who never sinned, do not exist. There will always be a person who pretends, and most of all, a person who lies.

The Midford Twins were angels in terms of personality.

But even devils were once angels.

Alexandria lost her emotions at the age of ten. However, she felt a strange feeling the moment she saw Clauzia.

For her, Clauzia was the light that helped her out of the shadows. Alexandria never understood what she was feeling because she no longer knows emotions.

But because of the strange thing she felt, she became interested in Clauzia. Her interest evolved to love, however, is it really love or just an obsession with the feeling she does not understand?=

Alexandria was finally close to discovering her purpose for living, but the Goddess they believed in was cruel and took everything away from her.

'If things will not go the way I want it…' she thought and looked at the woman she loves from afar.

"I will kill myself."
