The Murlocs were crying out in excitement, and when the python turned around because of the pain, its white belly had again taken another slash.
"Hiss!" The python went and stuck out its tongue, and then snapped towards the Murloc. One bite was enough to take out half of its HP.
A few Murlocs on the other side used this chance and instantly sliced at the python's abdomen, opening up new wounds and cutting half of its HP. Now, the Murloc that it killed earlier gave the python's wound another stab. Additionally, the one that climbed behind its back did the worst. It used one of its arms to hang on to the python's body, and another arm used its scimitar to stab the python's belly three times. It was surprisingly quick, and did considerable damage. It alone had inflicted damage equal to the others combined.
Zhang Yun sighed, "This lucky continuous strike!"
Then, the Murloc triggered another critical hit coincidentally, and the python's HP bar was emptied. There was a "Thud," and it fell into the long grass of the jungle. It was dead and would stay dead.
Next, the system prompt had also appeared.
[The "Armored Python" was slain!]
[All who participated in the battle will share the XP!]
[Tidal Murloc had slain the "Armored Python" and gained 160XP. Level increased to Level 2!]
[Tidal Murloc had slain the "Armored Python" and gained 160XP. Level increased to Level 2!]
[Tidal Murloc had delivered the final strike to the"Armored Python" and gained 860XP. Level increased to Level 4!]
…
"Huh? No prompts for any kind of loot? That means I can't farm materials from monsters anymore?"
Zhang Yun stroked his chin as he dismissed system prompts. He walked over to the python and checked its corpse as he knelt down.
After checking it one more time, he realized that there were no resources that he could gain from it. Not even the most basic bronze pieces (BP). It seemed like that function had been removed. Just like contacting customer service and teleporting to towns, he could no longer use them.
"Tch. I don't mind, since the really good items can't be farmed…" Zhang Yun comforted himself, took away the python's corpse and placed it in his inventory that can be opened during a battle, then ordered the Murlocs to continue scouting the jungle.
After spending a whole afternoon scouting the area, he had mostly understood the situation around here.
There was good news and bad news.
The good news was that this place was abundant in resources. There were many fruit trees and edible creatures. If he wanted, he could stay here for a few years. The bad news was just as he had suspected, this place was an island surrounded by the ocean. If he wanted to go anywhere else, he first needed to cross the ocean.
This other world might have humans… and good food…
"That's why it's said that if the first thing you wake up to is sand, nothing good will come of it. All games with nightmare difficulty start with waking up by the beach."
Zhang Yun sighed and began to plan for his future, especially what he needed to do. While he knew that this place was an island, he still had locations unexplored on it. He confirmed this because he could see the ocean around it while standing on a tall hill.
Similarly, Zhang Yun was not sure how dangerous the island was. Perhaps there existed creatures more powerful than the Armored Python, especially ones that could be considered as bosses.
Also, Zhang Yun had yet to decide the followers that could allow him to safely cross the ocean and how he would do it. So, he needed to stay here for at least three days. If he was going to stay in this place and do nothing, he would not want to know how many Resurrection Tokens and resources he would have to waste if he were attacked by monsters.
That was only in terms of safety. In terms of opportunity, this place might be hiding something good, like the so-called treasure that was hidden by a pirate king. If he were to turn it around, it could also mean that there might be a powerful creature in this place that could be converted into good materials. Later, after it was killed, he could obtain the materials required to make certain Divine Weapons…
Therefore, Zhang Yun had to completely explore this place whether he liked it or not.
Unfortunately, it was getting dark. The Murlocs' vision could not see what was happening clearly in the jungle, and their combat capabilities would be greatly reduced. If he were to send them to scout at night, it would be like giving hams to the cats and telling them that he had snacks.
What could he do?
'What else? Find a safe and warm place to have some sleep! Wouldn't it be nicer to explore the place the next day when he was well-rested?'
In truth, Zhang Yun could also summon followers that could act at night to help him scout the island, and expend his Diamonds. However, he was used to spending the least number of resources to complete the game's many objectives. So, it was torture for him to even waste some cheap materials. Therefore, he would avoid summoning new followers to join his party if he could, unless he was in a critical situation. For example, if a Black Dragon level enemy showed up. Then he would not save any resources. He would summon a Meta Hero, level it up fully, and beat the hell out of the dragon…
Even the Tidal Murlocs, every time the Tidal Kingdoms event was rerolled, they would give out these things' Calling Cards for free. He had at least 500 of these little Murlocs, and he could probably raise them for tens of thousands of years, but he still only chose to summon ten as his bouncers…
To be more specific, if Zhang Yun wanted to quickly eliminate all his problems now, it would be very simple. All he needed to do was to use a Lottery Scroll and get an Ancient Wyrm, then use his precious resources to level it up fully, he could then easily explore the island and cross the ocean by flight.
All he needed to do was to pay its upkeep by spending Diamonds at a specific timing.
If others could afford it every day, then what about him who had hoarded ten-years worth of resources in his super Storage?
Therefore, Zhang Yun's thought could be summarized as 'I can, but I don't want to, because it was unnecessary."
His title of "Ten-Years a Hoarder" was not given to him on a whim.
…
Nothing had happened during the night. The ten Murlocs guarding Zhang Yun filled with boredom, and they would lick their scimitars every once in a while.
Zhang Yun got out of bed and packed up his camping set on the beach. Which included a tent, bonfire, roasting rack, sleeping bag, and other basic equipment. They were basic items that the game gifted to him, but Zhang Yun had never used them much. Their durability was still quite high, almost like new.
Other than that, Zhang Yun also had a lot of basic items. While all these items were only for decor, they proved useful upon arriving to this other world. It could be used to solve his needs as a modern man.
The island had a lot of food and drinks. He had them in his Storage too, but they were all very useful consumables, just like the Golden Apple that he had previously eaten as well as those that were more powerful.
So, he would not simply eat the items within Storage. He would first consume the resources available on the island…
"Ah! A brand new day! I have to work hard today, too!
"Wonderful other world! Here I come!"
Zhang Yun sighed twice and then began to lead the Murlocs that had rested for the night. They were quite spirited and held on to their scimitars excitedly and headed towards the jungle before him.
"Today's objective is to scout the map and farm monsters to level up," Zhang Yun mumbled as he looked at the Murlocs that were opening up the path by pulling aside the bushes. "I should set a mini-objective. Scout half the terrain on this island, and grow the Tidal Murlocs to level 10.
"Oh, right. I need to level too.
"Happy exploring~"
With that, Zhang Yun controlled his Tidal Murlocs party and entered the jungle. While doing so, he himself continued to hide at the beach where he had a wide line of sight from afar.
After a short while, the Murlocs that had entered into the depths of the jungle had discovered groups of small animals. They looked like rabbits from his previous life, but they were not as quick and moved slowly. Their teeth were sharp like cats.
Zhang Yun laughed, "Target acquired!"
