Chapter 24 - Spotlight #32: Here's the Shituation!

Do you ever wish that you could have a story that was a slice of life, comedy, and romance all in one, from a writer's point of view? Well, if you do, then I think you guys will enjoy this little hidden gem: Here's the Shituation by Daica!

Summary

This crappy story is a story about a fledgling author who, with the help of her two adorable little critics, created a lovely little rom-com story. The story itself is about a socially awkward girl named Robyn trying to get her friend Edison to be more than friends with her other friend Irene.

Characters

Dacia: An overworked and often creatively dried person Danielle is a woman who often relies on her editors for help. And while she is very thankful to them, she is also willing to shutdown and keeps them in line, making them a stable unit.

Ash: One of the editors himself Ash is rude, obnoxious, and sarcastic but has a softer side in more vulnerable moments. And while a harsh word or two is a short term pain, it can be helpful in the long run.

Fern: The sweetest out of the 3, Fern is a very emotional and expressive critic that can brighten any situation.

Story

Robyn: A socially awkward girl that has read every shoujo known to man, she can be an interesting case. Effectively she often can't interact with other people, which leads to many complex plans that blow up in her face.

Ian: The most popular and talented guy in school, Ian, is almost insulting perfect. He is an agent mainly and a sweet guy who helps provide a voice of reason to Robyn's antics.

Edison: The most average and talented guy in school, Edison, is a very kind and anxious person due to a life of growing up alongside Ian. Despite this, he is a hard worker and a defender of all cats.

Irene: The practical and very aloof best friend of Robyn with a passion for cats.

Overview/Good stuff

The switching between both the author and the 'main story" provides a good pace and mixing up between the 2. This series can be a complete riot at the right moments and just a pile of cute every once and awhile. The art reminds me of a lot of hooky in a sense. It's simple outlines with signature colors to give a sense of characterization. As a writer, I can heavily relate to the almost "homemade" feel to everything, and I come to respect it more as time goes on.

Epilogue

Here's the Shituation is a very fun and diverse comic that can be accessed by anyone. In many ways, it could be seen as what love truly is, just being there for someone in whatever way possible. So I think we should all think about that as I write where the light will take us next.
