Chapter 8 - The Commoner's Life (Part 2)

After some time, they finally finished what they are doing. They are fixing the things on the table when Kristoffer talked.

"Hey, Sophia. Can I go ahead? I'm in class duty today so I need to do some various things. Is it alright to you?"

"Of course!... Not!"

"What?!"

"Just joking! It's alright, you can go ahead. The three of us can finish things up. I'll see you soon."

"Yeah! Thanks! Until I see you again, Mr. Burton!" Kristoffer said to me as he ran out of the room quickly.

After a while, the three of them finished up and came to me.

"I'm sorry to keep you waiting, Mr. Burton. let's go together then.

(At the classroom)

The three of them first entered inside the classroom while I waited for Sophia to call me inside.

"I think most of you are already aware about the transfer student coming today. He will be starting to have his classes here in this school starting this afternoon so I'd like all of you to welcome him warmly and make him feel at ease. Please come in, Mr. Burton."

I entered the classroom as soon as she asked me to come in.

"Introduce yourself, Mr. Burton."

"Hello everyone. I am Bill Burton. I hope we'll get along well." I introduced myself with a stiff face because I am really nervous. These people are very rich so it's not good to offend any of them. Once I do so, I might get kicked out of this school.

"Mr. Burton, you can sit beside Ms. Atkinson. The girl who is sitting beside the window."

I went towards the seat I was assigned to sit into and I saw the meek-looking girl staring at me. I bowed to her to pay my my respects but she just smiled at me awkwardly as if she's scared of me. Maybe because I didn't smile earlier when I'm introducing myself in front.

"Ok then, let's proceed to our activity for today. Ms. Ross took a leave today because her son is in the hospital due to a car accident and she needs to take care of him for the meantime. I'm sorry to disappoint you but she left an activity for us to do."

The classroom was suddenly filled of disappointment with the sound of sighs everywhere after Sophia said about the activity.

"Prince, can you help me pass on these worksheets to our classmates?"

"Of course, Sophia."

Sophia is clearly explaining what the activity is all about while the handouts are being distributed.

"Our lesson for today is 'Thesis'. According to our teacher's instruction, we will have an activity by pair. Our pair will be our seatmates. You will choose carefully on what topic you are going to use. You must consider these things: 'Is it important to our society?', 'Will this benefit the individuals?' and 'How can we resolve the issues revolving around it?' You can choose who is going to do the reporting and who is going to do the researching. You can have the remaining minutes to think what you and your partner are going to do."

After Sophia's explanation, I looked at my seatmate and saw that she's still looking at Sophia. I poked her shoulders and initiated the conversation.

"Umm... Hello. Nice to meet you, Ms. Atkinson. I think we're supposed to be starting the activity now or else we might ran out of time."

"Oh, I'm sorry. You're right. Then shall we get onto it?"

"Yeah."

We finally started doing the activity and she was cooperative in spite of being scared to me. When we decided for a topic, I proposed that I'll be the one to report since I think that's her weakness. She easily agreed and I think that made her happy. Thank goodness...

The class has ended and some of my classmates already went home. After I fixed my things, I talked to Janna to say goodbye since we will be sitting to each other from now on and I want to be in good terms with her.

"See you tomorrow, Ms. Atkinson. Good job earlier."

"Uh... Y-yeah. S-see you t-tomorrow!" She stuttered.

I just smiled at her and nodded. I went away immediately since I can see that she's really scared of me to the extent that she even stuttered. I can't help it. Since things ended up that way, I might as well let the destiny decide for my future high school life.
