Before he could stop himself, Alex said the words his brain was telling him was ridiculous - but his mouth was faster than his head.
"As if you know," Alex scoffed, then bit his inner cheek.
"As you know, there are three panels of light switches, with three switches on each one," Kyle said, "By logic and process of elimination, the light switches are the ones nearest the door as one would need to switch on the lights upon entering."
"Pursuant to that, each light switch would be synchronized with the location of the lights on the room. There are three main light points, thus, the nearest is the one on the left and the furthest is the one on the right."
Kyle pointed to the structure in the middle and said, "That is the air ventilation system, and in order to know that, you also need to realise that this is similar to a sunroom as everything is glass."
"Thus, this room gets the heat from the sun outside which means the glass is not only tinted to cut out most of the heat and radiation of the sun," Kyle continued, "But also insulated to ensure that the temperature in the room would remain constant."
He looked at Alex, saying, "And since this is Retsu Primary School with students like you, it is only natural to expect that the glass would not be easily broken or shattered. However, you're to expect the unexpected and if one was to attack the room, the most vulnerable glass panel would be the one that would give the perpetrator the most time to smash, enter and leave."
"I won't tell you which one that would be, for that would be your homework," Kyle said with a grin and continued, "As for the air ventilation system?"
"Well, in this sort of structure, the most common way is to have a window aircon. But, as you can clearly see, there is no such aircon unit at the windows, which means that it uses a central unit to ensure that the room temperature can be maintained."
"It uses the HVAC system, which stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Con System," Kyle went on, "And since this is two-storey, it uses the expanded HVAC vents."
By this time, Alex's lips were pressed tightly together. However, despite his displeasure at listening to his father rambling on, he still took note of what his father was saying. He learned a few things and was looking at the room with different eyes.
Still, naturally, he was not satisfied but he managed to stop himself from saying anything this time.
It was at the tip of his tongue to say that his father would know all of this since he was one of the people responsible for getting the Accelerated Class done. So wouldn't he have known the plans?
The blueprint?
Alex knew that that was just him being snarky.
Even if his father wasn't the one that started it, he would certainly have done his research beforehand. Plus, he had so much information and knowledge in his head that he would know what it was just by looking at it.
Just as he was feeling annoyed by the thought, he felt his shoulder being pressed and he looked up, to see his father looking at him with a rare look of softness.
"You'll slowly learn these things, Alex," Kyle said softly, "I have the advantage of having a photographic memory, so naturally, I would be able to see things better, and faster."
Alex looked at his father in surprise.
Photographic memory?!
This was something new.
He never knew his father had such an ability.
Is that why his father was just so good at what he does?
He had a super cheat?!
"No, I don't have a super cheat," Kyle said, laughing as he saw the way his son's face had a myriad of expressions - and one of total grievances.
"Whilst it does give me a certain edge," Kyle admitted, "It is not a super cheat. I may be able to recall an image from memory in an instant, but that is useless if I do not understand what it is."
"My head is full of information because I read a lot, and I never forget," Kyle said softly, "But it's also not that easy to shift through so much information and put it together in a comprehensive form."
He looked at Alex seriously, continuing in a low voice so that only the two of them could hear, "People only see what I can do, and when they know I have such an ability, they would brush it aside as my knowledge being due to that alone. They ignore the hard work I put in and the effort I make to understand it."
He shrugged, "Not that many people know about it, though."
Alex took time to digest this.
"Just like people look at you and think that you're bright simply because you're my son," Kyle continued softly, "Not realising the amount of work you put in to read, and study."
Alex looked at his father in surprise again.
This was the first time he actually heard his father acknowledging the sort of weight that he had on his shoulders.
His father knew about it?
His father also had such pressure on his shoulders?
It was at this moment that Alex began to realise - or rather, be able to see from his father's perspective.
Well, it was just a seed at the moment but the thought had been planted. It would take a long while before Alex could truly see it and empathize and understand his father more, but for now, it was enough.
Strangely enough, the weird conversation between father and son did not make any waves amongst the parents and kids around them.
The kids didn't understand what they were talking about anyway, while the parents felt the manner of teaching was beyond their comprehension.
Knowing what type of glass was used? HVAC System? What sort of parent talks to their eight-year-old child about that?
So they tuned out and ignored them.
"Class is about to begin soon," Kyle mused, "But your sister…"
Kyle stopped, his eyes narrowing as he saw the people he was waiting for.
To be more specific, the trail of people behind the ones he was waiting for.
What was this?!
Ariel burst through the open doorway and ran over to her father, quickly grabbing his leg, "Daddy! Daddy! I made new friends!"
Kyle smiled at her, rubbing her head, and said, "That's good Rie. Shall we go now?"
Ariel shook her head.
Kyle raised an eyebrow, "No?"
Ariel nodded her head.
"Yes?" Kyle said with a slight smile on his lips.
Ariel shook her head again then nodded.
"So which is it?" Kyle asked, highly amused at his daughter's antics and pointedly ignoring the bunch of kids behind Ariel.
"Can they come with us?" Ariel asked her father, her eyes wide and sparkling, full of excitement and expectations.
Kyle felt like his eye would twitch, but he wasn't Beatrice - Kayla's PA and an old schoolmate. Whenever she was faced with something she didn't like, or was stressed over, her eye would twitch.
Kyle had found that utterly fascinating and fun to see.
Right now, though, it didn't feel like it was any fun.
It took a lot of effort for him not to grit his teeth and say nicely, as he reached down to pick her up into his arms. As if to create a barrier between his youngest with the herd of unscrupulous kids who were tagging along.
Ariel pouted a bit and wrung her hands, saying with a low voice, "But Daddy, they're really nice and and …"
"Rie, aren't they students of this school? They've got to stay for class," Kyle said, "And even if they aren't students of this school and accompanying their siblings, they have a home to go back to."
And where the heck were their parents anyway? Kyle looked at Aurora, raising an eyebrow.
Aurora understood immediately that her father wanted an explanation so she told him, while shrugging, "Ariel was greeting everyone and making friends. Their parents thought Ariel was really cute, too."
"Yes, Uncle," one boy bravely piped up, "When I grow up, I will marry Ariel."
"No, me!"
"Not you! Me! Ariel likes me best!" one boy said proudly, pounding his chest.
Kyle stared at the four boys that were now glaring at each other, staking their claim on HIS daughter.
What was this?
She had just gone out to play for a few minutes and came back with four suitors?!
Kyle looked at Ariel who was tilting her head and looking at the four boys with interest.
"Ariel! Who do you like best?!" One suddenly shouted.
Ariel gave a dazzling smile and spread her arms wide open, "I like all of you!"
All four boys smiled while the parents nearby were giggling, thinking the whole scene was cute and adorable.
Then, Ariel put her arms around Kyle's neck ad said, "But I love my Daddy the most!"
Kyle grinned and kissed her cheek, "Okay, time to go now. Say goodbye to your siblings."
He deliberately ignored the boys.
His Ariel was like a dazzling flower that was attracting troublesome bees. Looks like he would need to ensure that she would not leave his sight now.
And he would need to teach her a thing or two about 'keeping her distance'. Though she may be only three, it's best to get her to learn to stay away from boys. She was just too innocent and sweet and he would need to nip this thing in the bud.
The poor four boys were a bit frozen on the spot at that moment, though.
Ariel's Daddy was looking at them and though he didn't look angry, for some reason, all of them felt fear.
They gulped.
Ariel's Daddy was scary.
