"So what do's this do?" Meika asked, picking up the bolt carrier from the pile of rifle parts, Tyler glanced over at her as she examined the piece in her paws. The human tried to think of a way of explaining the different parts to the very curious wolfess.
"That's the bolt, it holds the bullet inside the gun and fires it," He said as he brushed the inside of the chamber with the barrel brush, making sure he got all the carbon inside. Athena watched him curiously as he did his work, the other wolves were busy talking amongst themselves or were watching the human as well. One wolf was standing nearby on guard duty, clutching a large spear in one of it's paws, scanning the area for any activity, every now and then it's ears would twitch to hear what the pack was saying.
"I must ask human, what is the need for cleaning your weapon?" A black furred wolf named Zion asked, the whole wolf pack had introduced themselves to the young human earlier during his rifle cleaning session:
There was Denahi the leader of the small group,
there was Zion who acted as Denahi's scout,
there was Sam who was the wolf currently standing away from them on watch.
There was Meika the hunter who was sitting next to the human, her bow and quiver sat next to her,
there was Sakara the healer, the one who fixed Tyler's leg gash and did her best to help out Athena as well.
And then of course, there was Athena, the golden wolfess Tyler had met when he was down on his last legs, freezing cold and barely awake, had she not come by any sooner, he probably would've froze or been left at the mercy to whatever lived in the woods.
Meanwhile the so curious Meika continued to pick up random parts and question the human about them, who was struggling to give her any good answers, taking in account the fact that these folk didn't quite understand guns as good as he did, but they at least understood the power and capability of a gun in the hands of one trained to use them.
"What's this little thing here?" Meika pointed out the bolt carrier key.
"I'm not sure what that's called to be honest with you, I'm not really familiar with this weapon as much" Tyler said, pulling at a length of string through the barrel, the other end coming out revealing a piece of dirty cloth.
"Not familiar with it, what's that suppose to mean?" Zion said.
Tyler started to go though his mags, placing a few of the bullets from his pocket into one of the mags, he made sure to clean the others of dirt or moisture.
"Well, I've never trained with this before, we don't use these where I come from" He said, holding up the M4 with one hand.
Athena drank from a rusty canteen, taking in a fresh breath as he gulped it down, "Where do you come from anyway, your "accent" doesn't sound like any of the other humans we've heard before?"
"Well, I'm from England" Tyler answered.
all the wolves got confused looks on them, Athena was the one who said something, "What's that?" she asked.
"Well, to put it simply, I come from another land on the other side of the Atlantic" Tyler said.
"I know what that is, that is the big ocean located in the western lands, I've not heard much about it, how big is it?" Sakara asked.
"It's big, really big, it takes several days to cross by ship, but if you take a plane it is a lot faster" Tyler said. He finished the cleaning and now began to put the rifle back together, putting the bolt back together and shoving it into the gun.
"By the way, how's your leg holding up now, I forgot to ask?" Sakara said.
"Well, it feels fine, I don't feel any pain now, thanks for that by the way" Tyler said, lifting up his trouser leg to show Sakara's work, the wound was now clean and not bleeding anymore.
"I see, you don't have to thank me, I love helping others. How about you, you seem to be very chipper this morning?" Sakara said.
"Oh, I feeling okay as well, I mean, I wasn't exactly in the best condition when you guys came by" Athena chuckled, the other wolves chuckled as well.
"No you weren't, to be honest, I thought you were going to take longer to start being yourself again and we would have to stay camped out here longer, not that I wouldn't carry you back home" Denahi said to his sister.
"Hey, I can look after myself you know, I don't need my big brother to come save me every now and then" Athena said, pouting.
Denahi laughed, "yeah sure, that's what you said before, many times actually haha, I've lost count how many times you've come running for me when you angered a deer or mama bear".
Tyler laughed as well, "You've been chased by a deer, seriously?". Athena glared at him, giving him the evil eyes. The human just rolled his eyes as Zion, Meika and Sakara struggled to hold in their laughter as well.
Whilst the group was getting well acquainted, Tyler suddenly got reminded of his own friends, Mitchell, Jeremy, Luke and Chris. He had no clue where they where, Both Jeremy and Chris had a tent of their own near Tyler's and Mitchell's. but Luke had a tent with someone else on the other side of the army camp. Tyler hadn't even thought about them until now, he realised that he hadn't seen or heard of them since then. But Mitchell however, Tyler had a pretty good idea of what happened to him, but he didn't want to think about it, hopefully his new wolfy friends could help him sniff them out in the forest. Tyler hoped that if they did find them, they were alive and not-
Tyler shaked that thought out of his head, he didn't need to be thinking about that now, he scratched his head as he drank from his canteen, listening to the brother and sister argue.
