In The Sun company, the vice president, Sol Hazel is in dilemma.
It's almost time for the working hours to end yet, Hazel wish for the time to go slower.
Hazel taps on her work desk as she stares at the file in front of her. Despite that, her mind is not on work but the date tonight at 9:p.m. She said to date, but it's only going for dinner and watching the movie.
Well.. at least that's what Serena told her.
Hazel wants to punch her idiot past self so much!!!
'Why must I be tempted by that man's offer to disclose information about Scarlett to win a small project!!!?'
'A project that was so much smaller compares to what Scarlett is working on right now...'
Hazel sigh as she slumped to her chair while rubbing her face.
She stares at the ceiling of her office. In this quiet room, she suddenly thinking about her personality and attitude growing up with her sister.
Growing up, she is always compared to her sister. She is gloomy, there's no sense of fashion and she was never the center of attention. It's always her sister.
Her sister is her polar opposite. She is cheerful, always fashionable, the first line in every new trend in-store, and always popular. She has many friends too.
Despite that, Hazel has always believed that she can find her sense of existence working in their father's companies. So what, if she is not fashionable and popular like her sister? At least she is better in a company affair. She is smarter than her sister.
At least, that's what she believes before Scarlett changed.
One day, after her birthday party, Scarlett suddenly said that she wanted to involve herself with the company.
Of course, it was too sudden and everyone is shocked about it, including her. But, I thought that it's fine as she must not be as good as me dealing with the company. At most, she will only sit at her working desk all day doing small work or playing until she is tired.
But, she was wrong. Scarlett was able to win many new projects, make a lot of changes that brought many benefits to the worker, and increase the working efficiency of everyone.
In short, she is better than Hazel even though she has been working hard in this company even longer than Scarlett.
Still, Scarlett won and she quickly got the seat of the company president. One big step before becoming the C.E.O.
"It hurts so much... How can she changed so fast and become even better than me, while I'm still the same gloomy, unpopular girl from many years ago". Hazel sigh as she remembers another change of Scarlett.
After that, Scarlett suddenly comes out and telling the family that she is with Ashely now. Not just a crush, but in love and they are together.
Mother feels gloomy for a whole month but, father doesn't really care as long the company is in good hands.
And like magic, mother now has also started to accept Ashley as Scarlett's girlfriend.
And it makes me feel sour in my mouth. Why can she get many things easily while I'm here feeling moldy every day?
When will I get to be like her? Shining brightly and happy while I'm here being wrapped by the long shadow due to the bright light she cast.
I want people to see me for me, not being judged as the second-best every time.
Hazel buries her face in her arm on the table as she let out a heavy sigh again.
"On top of that... I never thought that Cyrill would try to kill Scarlett..." Hazel lifts her face and her face looks tangled.
"I thought at most, he was trying to talk with her about her relationship with his ex-wife..." Hazel grumbled as she lost in thought again.
Everyone knows that Scarlett was Cyrill's lover at that time but, he was married to Ashley as a business relationship so Scarlett always bullied Ashley whenever they met.
After that, Ashely finally decided to get a divorce, and not surprisingly, Cyrill agreed.
Cyrill also liked Scarlett at that time so after they were divorced, he tried to meet up with Scarlett to talk about their relationship only to be ignored by her until now.
And, shockingly... Ashely is together with Scarlett.
"I thought that Cyrill is desperate to know Scarlett's location to meet her... I almost let my sister died...."
Hazel grits her teeth before taking a deep breath to calm down herself.
Suddenly, her phone rang which break her from her trance. She picks up her phone and sees the familiar name pops up on her screen
"Slutty Bitch is calling me...." I mumble her nickname.
Until today, I've been brainwashing myself in order not to be deceived by her. I've also paid 10 bodyguards to watch me goes on the date with Slutty Bitch today in case she tried to do anything to me.
After a minute, I accept her call.
"What?" I ask coldly.
"I just want to say that I'm happy that you are going on this date with me..." A Cheerful voice replied from the other end of the call.
" That's it?", I raise one of my brows. "You call me just for that?" I sneer at her naivety only to realize she can't see my expression.
"Of course!!! I never forced you to go on this date!!! And to think that you agreed quickly!!"
Hazel knows she can't see Serena's face, but somehow, she can feel that Serena is smiling widely at the other side. And, she feels uncomfortable about that.
"What do you mean you didn't force me? Didn't you told me that you will spend the entire month working in my office with me if I don't go on this date?" Hazel frowns at the thought of Serena's cunning personality.
"Huh? I never said that... If I remember correctly, I only told you that If you chose to ignore me and not saving my name?"
Hazel heard Serena's tone of voice sounds a little sad.
"Are you going to bail on me?"
" If there is that choice... Yes!!" Hazel answered without hesitation. There's a silence at the end of the phone. She was about to turn off the call when Serena's voice comes again.
"I see..." There's hesitation in her voice. "Well then... If you feel uncomfortable, going on a date with me... I don't mind to— "If that so, then I won't go, Bye!!!"
Hazel quickly hang up the call and let out a heavy relieved sigh. "That's one thing out of my chest".
She looks at the watch on her hand to see that the time to go home is here. But, she feels like things won't be good if she goes home now, so she plans to stay the night in the company today.
Inside Scarlett's office, The president of The sun company.
I pick up the phone when I see Scarlett is calling me. "Is she going to talk about the date tonight?"
I can't help but chuckle when I remember her excited face when she asked how to impress your crush on her first date. "Seriously... Her knowledge of things is so random unlike a normal person at all...!" She must have searched it from an untrustworthy site.
"A month ago, she is like a chewing gum under my shoes, now she has become a good friend that I can't replace".
"Hey! Serena, what is it? Are there any last-minute changes you need me to help with your date with my little sister tonight?" I grin widely as I tease her.
"Yeah..." Her voice sounds weak which is weird. This is so unlike her.
"What is it?" Did she have a fever? I thought inwardly.
"Can you cancel all the places that you help me choose the date today... I ... Don't think that the date can happen tonight..."
"What!! What happens!? And you were so excited about it!! Are you sick?" I asked worriedly.
"It's my heart.."
"Your heart!!? What Happen to your heart? Are you injured? Are you in pain? Are you okay!!??"
"I think it's breaking in two..."
"...." I choked on words.
"You mean a heartbreak? As in... Broken in love?"
"Yeah...."
"Did my sister bail on you?" I scratch my head as I feel awkward in my heart. One is my friend, and the other one is my sister.
"Maybe..."
'thought so...' I thought in my head.
"Do you... Wanna talk about it?" I asked in hesitations.
"Well do you...? " She asked back.
" Of course I want to!" I reply firmly
"Thank you... " After that... There's silence I wait for a few minutes when she suddenly said,
"Bring Ashely too... I don't want any misunderstanding to happen. I am at this bar. I'll send you the address."
"I'll be there..." After that, I hang up the phone. I sigh as I stare at the black screen on the phone for a few seconds.
" She is always considerate about others..."
I let out a heavy sigh again.
"As someone who is also from a different world, I should help her ..."
I turn my chair around and look at the view of the city from my office.
"I wonder what will happen at the end of this novel world?" I mumble under my breath as I look at the end of the endless sky.
