Chapter 22 - Path

Twenty four days of the challenging journey passed; winter started to show its first signs, as the group of beggar kids was almost out of the territory of the Forrest, closing up the distance to the Eastern wilderness.

Nevertheless, the strong mount was always in sight, yet it seemed like it's only a fallacy; after all, they walked through countless days and sleepless nights but not even once they felt like they close enough.

Currently, Jin was leaning on a huge tree, blowing warm air on his hands.

The freezing essence hardened his blood circulation to the point he barely could move his muscles.

Also, he felt the remarkable change in his cultivation speed from the trash grade one spiritual root he once had to grade two, but the rate of his stones devouring leaped too. Thus, he completely extinguished his spiritual stones during the road. However, grade two was still garbage somehow, as he still not feeling any sign of breaking to the next layer, despite his earnest cultivation.

«System show me the stats for my cultivation,» He ordered the system.

Cultivation stage: First layer of qi condensation

Description: next stage will be reached after eight months.

«Shit! From 5 years to about ten months, the speed is very noticeable, but it's still too prolonged.»

In front of him, there was Chun and Xia, trying to lit up a fire. However, their efforts weren't as productive; the cold air kept whacking any of their attempts, paired with the freezing leaves, made it an almost impossible task.

Chun threw the branches in his hands from the build-up annoyance, "if things stayed like this, we might die before reaching that vilified mountain!" He Shouted.

The pressure in Jin's heart was intensifying; the situation wasn't in control, as he perceived, and of course, he can't discuss this matter or show weakness in front of the pair.

His only consular at this tough time was his reliable system.

«System , the journey isn't going so well; we are running out of food rapidly! didn't you say the road will only take about a month?»

Internally grimicing he replied, « So what should I do then?»

The system added:

Jin rang almost immediately, «Hm, Indeed, But what if the donkey can run faster than a horse?»

Jin thought about it and found what narcos said logical; shifting his gaze, he waved his hand, "Stop, we just wasting time; how about you lead the way from now on?"

Raising a brow, Chun promptly replied, "Why?"

"I'm feeling tired and can't focus on the way anymore; you should take the lead for now."

The villain nodded his head without arguing.

At this time, Hunting was not an option anymore, They already bypassed the weak Forrest beasts, and all that remained are the black wolf packs, venomous snakes, giant spiders, and some wild apes a hundred time faster, Stronger than the "cute" animals back in the town, in fact, they almost lost their lives in several moments.

Luckily, the system provided detailed guidance, or he would've perished a long time ago, especially with his terrible luck.

Following Jin's request, Chun led the way while I carried the sleepy girl on my back, and as expected, progress has shown its whiffs quite fast; I can see the mist covering the mountain clearing up as we trespassed a rocky path sandwich between hills.

There was also a reason why I'm frequently sticking to the girl, Boulders occasionally fell, but because I was carrying my lucky lifesaving item, "Xia." none really harmed me.

Days ticked by, and we finally could clearly discern the Mountain surface, which was going to be our home for some time; glancing up till my neck could extend anymore to the mighty mountain, happiness overtook me, and I held my hands up high, shouting, "We did it!"

The boy beside me was also delighted in secret, but he didn't understand the source of my overly enthusiastic posture, snorting, "So we passed tens of miles from the town to come and see a huge rock?"

Walking past him, I meekly said, "Seek and wander. It's the way of the cultivator; what if this mountain has a fortune inside? Nobody knows, right? Well, let's be the first to find out. then"

Of course, I was just bluffing; my speech contradicted my principles; first of all, I won't choose to enter a damned mountain for any kind of benefit, none less a random one, foolishly trespassing inside of a place that you have no information on what so ever was for me blatantly "Idiotic," what if there are powerful monsters taking shelter inside? What if you wasted time and found nothing? What if you get closed off?

«How much years this place existed? If it were safe, people would've already taken the price.»

Not every time you will accounter an old master handing you his lifelong cultivation techniques with a smile on his face; dead or alive, people are selfish and, in most times, tend to want to take something from you even more than give.

Still, I guess Mc's over here making a living of this kind of brainless adventures, and besides, plot armor will save their asses anyway.

Moving on to Venturing the mountain, I walked around trying to find an entrance; however, I couldn't find anything. Shaking off my hair I put down Xia, and laid down on the ground.

Confusedly she asked, "What are you doing?"

I leisurely whispered, "Waiting for the magic to happen,"
