It was evening by the time they returned to the car.
Ji Younai had purchased plenty of paper effigies, wreaths, and joss money with the last bit of money that she had left, all of which she placed in the trunk of the car.
Gong Siyu's chauffeur looked at the trunk filled with offerings for the dead and felt dumbfounded. His eyes were wide open, his mouth gaping.
Under the setting sun, he looked at Ji Younai's reflection in the rear-view mirror with a mix of shock and fear.
"Uncle, please take me to Jade Wave Manor 101. You may leave after you drop me there."
Ji Younai was wearing a plain sweater and a white skirt. There was a white paper flower pinned to her waist-length black hair.
Like a fragile person made of white porcelain and jade, she looked a little surreal in the hazy light.
Jade Wave Manor was a townhouse complex on the East Fourth Ring Road of Beijing. The residences in that area were owned by relatively wealthy people. Although they were not on par with the truly wealthy and powerful tycoons, they were able to gain a foothold in Beijing and rise to success.
Ji Younai's aunt lived there.
After Ji Younai's uncle made a fortune in stock speculation, the family lived a prosperous life.
Nonetheless, they were still greedy. Not only did they encroach on the courtyard house that Ji Younai's grandparents had left to her father after her parents' death, they also pocketed all the inheritance, including her parents' salary and the compensation paid by the insurance companies!
She did not want anything from them. However, she had to ask her aunt for enough money to be able to give her parents a burial.
She got out of the car, grabbing the urns, wreaths, paper effigies, and joss paper.
Ji Younai watched as the car left, then walked towards the door of her aunt's house expressionlessly.
She arranged the paper effigies in front of her aunt's doorstep, placing one on both sides. The two wreaths were placed neatly as well.
The sky gradually darkened, and Ji Younai scattered the joss paper up towards the sky.
Amidst the fluttering and flying of the joss paper, she held the two urns in her arms and rang the doorbell.
Truthfully, she was a little afraid of her aunt.
However, she looked at the urns in her arms.
After doing so, the corners of her lips curled into a sinister smile that seemed equal parts resentful and vicious.
She was curious about the expression her aunt would have when she realized that Ji Younai had come back to life. She was looking forward to it.
"Who is it?" someone asked at the top of her lungs.
The door opened with a clicking sound.
In the next second, the resentful grin on Ji Younai's face widened.
A scream of horror resounded in the air soon after.
"You! Who are you!?!"
The middle-aged woman with curly hair had shrieked when she opened the door as if she had seen a ghost. Petrified, she tried to close it but was blocked by Ji Younai.
"Aunt, it's me. Younai."
As she was speaking, Ji Younai leaned closer, Ji Cuihua stumbled in fear before falling onto the ground.
"Aren't you dead!?!"
At that moment, another female voice sounded.
"Mother, who's that!?! What's the matter with you?" Lin Xueyan, Ji Cuihua's daughter and Ji Younai's cousin, popped her head out and asked. However, she screamed at the sight of Ji Younai as well, smashing the porcelain cup in her hand.
"Aunt, Cousin, I brought my parents here to see you. Aren't you going to invite me in for a seat?"
Before Ji Younai and Lin Xueyan could take any action, Ji Younai entered the house with the two urns.
The European-style decor was luxurious and magnificent. Her aunt's family was really living well.
Ji Younai seemed calm on the surface, but deep down, she already had twisted thoughts about wanting to destroy everything.
She was maligned and forced to withdraw from school, her parents had died, and her aunt's family was ruthless and cruel towards her. She was in so much despair that she had chosen to end her life.
However, that family did not even have the conscience to claim their bodies!
Her aunt was her father's biological elder sister!
How could a human being become that cold and indifferent towards her own kin?
While her and her parents' corpses were left unclaimed in the morgue, this family of three took all of their money and enjoyed a luxurious life filled with familial joy...
All she could hear were her aunt and cousin's cries and shrieks.
When they saw the paper effigies, wreaths, and joss paper, Ji Cuihua and Lin Xueyan hugged each other and cried out in terror.
"Aunt, I came to ask you for some money for Father's and Mother's burial. I'm penniless now..."
Before she could finish, she was interrupted by the sounds of crying.
"I don't have money for you! I don't care if you're human or ghost, you're not getting a penny from me! Dream on!"
Ji Younai's eyes were bloodshot. She seemed to be agitated, now furious and on the verge of tears.
"Even if I beg you?" she asked.
"Get lost! Get out of my house! I'm not afraid, even if you are a ghost!! I'm telling you, I've called the police!"
She couldn't even cry, feeling only pain and disgust. How could such horrendous people have such good lives in this world?
"Aunt, you've always been so ruthless."
With red eyes and trembling hands, Ji Younai slowly crouched down and removed the lids from the two urns sitting quietly on the ground.
"What- what are you trying to do?"
Ji Younai scattered the ashes in the urn everywhere, smiling at Ji Cuihua in a strange way.
"What am I trying to do? You took away all of my family's money and you even refuse to pay for my parents' burial. I have no choice now but to scatter their ashes in your home, so that they can keep you company every day..."
'You made me so ruthless!'
Ji Younai then lit up the offerings at the door.
Looking at the hell notes that the wind had swept up in the night, she laughed, sounding somewhat maniacal, but her laughter was mostly full of misery and despair.
Even the security officers that arrived at the scene thought that she had gone berserk.
-
Gong Siyu fully recovered from his injuries a month later.
The first thing he did after sending his people to look for Ji Younai was to deal with the mercenaries who had attempted to assassinate him.
That night, someone had tampered with his car, causing the brakes to malfunction. The mercenaries chased after his car, ending up in a collision that led to a major car accident.
He did not expect those people to be so ruthless. In order to make sure that no one was left alive, they killed everyone in the car. Fortunately for him, the bullet missed his heart. He was then saved by Ji Younai.
In the middle of a deserted mountain range, in the dark and windy night, Gong Siyu took a vicious and cruel approach, torturing the five mercenaries during their interrogation.
He injected them with truth-telling serum, electrocuted them, put them through water torture, and many other methods from an endless list of tricks.
His methods were brutal. The sight of them was terrorizing and their names were daunting.
There was an intense hostility in Gong Siyu's eyes, killing them before they could even speak.
He grabbed a silk handkerchief handed to him by Bai Feiran and wiped away the bloodstains on his hands.
With an extremely insidious look in his eyes, he smirked coldly and glanced at the corpses on the ground.
Coldly, he instructed, "Destroy all their fingerprints, teeth, and faces. Get someone to clean up everything and leave no stones unturned. Pretend to send them to a hospital for emergency rescue and then donate their bodies to Beijing University of Medicine. Just say that the hospital had decided to donate the unidentified remains for research."
That was how terrifying Gong Siyu was. He was vicious to the core and scarily meticulous.
He straightened up his gray suit and returned to the car, as if he had nothing to do with the matter.
"By the way, Bai Feiran, I told you to check on Ji Younai's address, background, and contact information. Have you gotten any results?"
At the mention of Ji Younai, the hostility in Gong Siyu's eyes reduced greatly.
However, he still looked at Bai Feiran with a sharp gaze.
Bai Feiran had been the one who chased her away with money behind his back. He was still holding a grudge against Bai Feiran for that.
