Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: After An Exchange Of Glances, It Is Certainly A Lifelong Friendship

As soon as Gong Siyu heard that Ji Younai was leaving, the warmth in his narrow eyes vanished, his gaze turning inexplicably cold.

"You're leaving? Why?" He paused and continued to ask while squinting, "My wife? I'm not married."

'Is she not his wife?' Ji Younai was slightly taken aback, 'It must be his girlfriend then!'

It didn't matter, whoever it was.

"I remember your foot was injured. No one is chasing you away now. Why are you in such a hurry to leave?" After he finished speaking, Gong Siyu glanced at the people in the room with a cold, sharp gaze.

He seemed to be suspecting that someone had said something to Ji Younai while he was unconscious, making her too scared to stay.

All of a sudden, tension arose in the stylish master bedroom, which had become silent.

The servants, bodyguards, and doctors were all scrupulous about Gong Siyu.

Bai Feiran cleared his throat awkwardly.

'No one's chasing me away?' That doesn't seem to be the case…

Ji Younai stole a glance at Bai Feiran but she did not expose the truth.

At this moment, Gong Siyu tried to prop himself up, supposedly trying to make Ji Younai stay. While doing this, his face turned pale because he had strained his wound. However, he persisted and raised his hand to grab Ji Younai's wrist.

"Don't go..."

Ji Younai felt her wrist being pinched, but the group of doctors and nurses quickly swarmed the bed, forcing Gong Siyu to let go of her wrist and release her.

"Ji Younai..."

The anxious conversations between the doctors and nurses were mixed with Gong Siyu's feeble voice...

Ji Younai gazed at the man, who was pale and breaking out in a cold sweat on the bed.

There was vulnerability in his dark eyes, and he seemed to be pleading as if he was afraid she would actually leave.

Ji Younai didn't understand why that man would give her such a look. She had merely saved his life.

While the doctors and nurses examined his wounds, Ji Younai quietly left.

She could not stay there.

Everything was a mystery for Ji Younai, who had just been brought back to life after dying.

She wanted to find out why she had been resurrected!

The corpses of her parents, who had died in a car accident, were still at the morgue. She had to pay to collect them but knew that the greedy aunt who had pocketed all of her family's fortune would never be kind enough to collect her parents' bodies, Ji Younai quickened her pace.

"Mr. Bai, can I take a few more banknotes?"

Bai Feiran was feeling guilty at the moment, but when he heard Ji Younai's request, he was taken aback. Then he nodded.

He watched as Ji Younai took another three banknotes from a pile that was worth half a million yuan, right in front of him.

"I'll just take a thousand. I don't want the rest."

"..."

"But can you find a car to give me a ride? I'm not familiar with this place..."

Seeing that Ji Younai was really getting ready to leave, Bai Feiran was hesitant to speak, frowning instead. He nodded at the risk of being killed by Gong Siyu.

"Okay."

When they left the mansion, the air was chilly and the sun was slowly rising.

Tilting her head to look up at the clear, blue sky, Ji Younai's eyes turned watery and red. She seemed to be filled with infinite grievances and sorrows, but she swallowed them all down.

Bai Feiran watched Ji Younai leave.

When he returned to the master bedroom, he was astonished to find that the atmosphere did not feel right at all!

The elegant and handsome smile on Gong Siyu's face had vanished after Ji Younai left. His thin lips were pressed tightly together, and he was giving off a cold and gloomy aura.

He was like a completely different person.

His wicked, narrow eyes were filled with coldness and he was silent, thus giving off a frightening vibe.

Suddenly, the bizarre silence of the master bedroom was broken by Gong Siyu's frail but indifferent voice.

"How much money did you give her?"

He had seen Ji Younai holding onto some money. He knew where it had to have come from.

Bai Feiran pretended not to hear him, simply standing to the side respectfully.

"Bai Feiran!" Gong Siyu barked coldly, ignoring the unbearable pain in his wounds. He seemed to be furious.

"Five hundred thousand yuan."

"..."

"However, she did not take it." He paused and added, "No, she only took a thousand..."

Gong Siyu remained silent.

Then he suddenly flared up!

He tugged out the needle that was attached to the back of his hand forcefully, seemingly detesting everything and everyone within his line of vision.

He sat up, shattered the infusion bottle, and also smashed all the medical supplies, like the glass syringes that were resting on the bedside table.

Ignoring his injuries, he hollered at Bai Feiran, "Bai Feiran! Did you take her for a beggar!?"

He ignored the bleeding wound in his abdomen, which had been ripped apart, as well as the gunshot wound in his shoulder that was oozing blood. He resisted the assistance of the doctor and nurses.

"Should I look for her again and give her a million yuan?"

Boiling with anger, Gong Siyu endured the pain and got out of bed.

His face was pale, and his gaze was cold as he looked at Bai Feiran, gritting his teeth.

"Without her, I would have been dead! We had been in a life-and-death situation together. Do you think that's something that can be measured with money!?!"

"..."

He felt that this was the real Gong Siyu. The Young Master who had been smiling and pleading with the girl not to leave just now was practically a stranger to him.

Everyone knew that Young Master Gong had an eccentric temper and was fickle-minded. He had some psychological issues, and no one dared to provoke him.

Seeing that everyone was shivering, Bai Feiran told them to leave.

He had long gotten used to seeing such small-scale destruction.

He let Gong Siyu continue smashing everything in the room that could be broken.

When Gong Siyu was finally on the verge of collapsing, Bai Feiran quickly strode forward to hold him. Giving a subtle glance to the doctor, he instructed him to give Gong Siyu a sedative.

Afterward, Gong Siyu passed out and finally fell silent.

The tear in his wound and the bleeding caused severe inflammation and an infection, which led to a high fever.

Bai Feiran placed a hand on his forehead. He was going to have a lot to deal with.

He considered trying to get Ji Younai to come back, but he instantly dismissed that idea after reading the information received about Ji Younai from the investigation!

-

Ji Younai went to the morgue of the Civic Hospital, paid the fees, and collected her parents' corpses.

The chauffeur whom Mr. Bai had lent her was the one who brought her there. He drove a Bentley, which was rather eye-catching.

There were plenty of people wailing endlessly in the morgue.

She could still see some strange "people".

They were similar to the terrifying female ghost that she had seen in the funeral parlor that night.

Some of them had glassy eyes that were out of focus, pale faces, and bizarre expressions, while others had missing limbs and were dripping blood.

She discovered that no one could see them, except her.

Ji Younai turned and fled to the car. She pointed at the hearse that was moving out of the car park in the basement.

"Uncle, just follow that hearse in front."

Upon hearing this, the chauffeur looked at Ji Younai in confusion but did as he was told. They arrived at a crematorium in the north of the city.

The cremation process was tedious and complicated, Ji Younai waiting quietly at the end of the corridor.

The surrounding area was filled with the sounds of heartbreaking cries and devastation.

Despite being filled with sorrow and grief, however, Ji Younai no longer had any tears left to cry.

When she received the two urns, she kowtowed thrice on the ground to the ashes of her parents in a mournful and agonized manner.

'I'm sorry, Father and Mother, I'm very vulnerable and weak now. I can't even afford to bury you and let you rest in peace. Getting a tombstone in the cemetery would cost a great deal and my aunt has taken away all your money. I can't afford it… I'm useless and I've let you down.'

There was a dull ache in her chest, and a sense of guilt overwhelmed her. She found it a little hard to breathe.

After kneeling for a while in front of the two urns, Ji Younai suddenly took a deep breath, a cold look of determination in her eyes. Seemingly having made up her mind about something, she carefully picked up the two heavy urns.
