He hesitated to step inside. Was this shop really the only place accepting applications around here? He didn't want to think too much about it and with one last suppressed breath, he finally went inside.
The big oak door made a familiar jingle when he opened it. Cold air flew past his face when he came in. He looked around the few towering isles filled with dusty, old books and felt like he was intruding on someone's peace. Being lost in thought and feeling, he didn't notice someone behind him.
"Excuse me, sir, can I help you?" He jumped out of surprise and whipped around to meet a stubby old lady. She had piercing purple eyes that he was amazed by, and her graying hair slicked back into a tight bun and by the wrinkles on her faded tan skin, she was at least 60.
"Oh yes! I saw the sign outside, you require some employees correct?" The elder woman looked him up and down with a skeptical look. Telling by her face she seemed displeased with his appearance. Maybe it was because of his many piercings, or his sickly silver eyes and his raven black hair. 'He looks like a damn thug' she thought, he felt a little offended by her thoughts but decided not to address it.
"I'm sorry but I don't think someone like you belongs in my store." He wasn't affected by the comment but he was determined just as much as he was desperate.
"Please ma'am I need this job, my little brother needs to eat and go to school, and I'm the only one who can help him because our parents are gone." He hated playing the orphan card but if it got him this job then he could live with it.
She stared at him dead in the eye, searching for any disingenuous intent in his words. After a while of uncomfortable silence, she sighed then continued to walk past him towards the back of the shop.
"It will always be 65 degrees in here no more and no less. 40% humidity, too much and the books can mildew any less can turn them brittle." She paused for a moment and moved a book ever so slightly to put it in the perfect position. "-What's your name boy?" He quickly straightened his posture then spoke.
"U-um Jimin, Park Jimin." He said immediately looking down at his shoes not wanting to meet her gaze.
"Well mister Park I don't tolerate tardiness, so I expect you to be here every morning at 8 o'clock sharp, is that understood?" He gave her a small but genuine smile
"Yes!"

"Tae I'm home!" Jimin yelled as he came through the front door. It was a small studio apartment in a mildly well-kept building. They didn't mind sharing the small space as they had been doing it most of their lives. Jimin only found convenience in it as it was the cheapest thing he could get this close to Tae's new high school so he didn't care how big it was.
Not paying attention to where he was going, still trying to figure out where Taehyung went, Jimin tripped over a moving box but reacted quickly by flipping into a front handspring and landing perfectly on his feet.
"AnD hE sTicKs thE lAnDinG!" Taehyung announced using a brush as a microphone. He popped out of the bathroom with a playful smile on his face and bolted to his brother. "Hey hyung where did you go today? I woke up and you were gone, you left me here to be bored by myself." He complained with a small frown.
"Well someone has to pay the bills around here Tae and you need to go to school, so I was out finding a job," Jimin said with an attitude.
"Oh, speaking of school I don't know what to wear for my first day," Taehyung said completely ignoring his twin's comment.
"Whatever you wear I promise you'll look amazing," Jimin said plopping onto a bean bag too tired to want to make any more conversation.
Taehyung rambled on about the adventure he had by himself today but stopped when he heard soft snores coming from his older brother. He overlooked him as he slept and leaned in to softly caress his cheek. Taehyung was always very fond of Jimin; He himself had always been the more outgoing, taller, and physically stronger of the duo. But he couldn't hold a candle to Jimin when it came to mental and emotional stability, and also intelligence. They were truly night and day, two completely different beings that fit so well together.
