As soon as the principle finished speaking my music teacher walked in. I've always had a love for music. I've always been the best and always will. I've won every competition I've ever participated in, therefore my teacher loves me. "Olive! How excited are you for this weekend?!" she shouted reaching the attention of everyone in the office.
"I'm going to win. I have no doubt," I said with no emotion at all.
The woman with the boys I met earlier spoke, "Cocky aren't we?"
I looked at her and smirked, "She's got a pretty big ego," my music teacher said with her cheery smile.
Mrs. Caldwell immediately interrupted, "Hey, I've never seen her lose. I doubt she ever will." she winked then spoke, "Can you coming over for dinner today?"
"Yeah, sounds good,"
The bell then rang. "I should go to class, my attendance sucks ass."
I waved to the boys and the women then Mrs. Caldwell before I walked out.
Classes flew by until I made it to history with Mr. Caldwell. I walked in five minutes early and sat in his chair. He walked in and sat in my desk. "You coming to dinner?" he asked.
"Probably, I've got to practice a little for the music competition. I'll be there by 6."
"O, you look happy. I'm proud of you."
Before I was with my adoptive parents, I was with an abusive family. It took me a while to recover as two years ago I was adopted by Jackson and Claire. I told the Caldwell's and they are amazing, I tell them everything.
"I'm getting there," I sighed with a shy smile.
"We'll talk at dinner we've got a surprise," he said as we stood up because students started to walk in.
History went fast due to Mr. C's superb teaching. I jumped up as soon as the bell rang and went to walk home.
I ran into the office to say goodbye to Mrs. Caldwell when I saw Romeo, Roman, Enzo, the woman standing with the Sean guy, three other boys in their 20's and the wall I ran into who I assumed was their father.
"I guess being huge is genetic or something," I muttered as they chuckled.
I walked up to Caldwell's desk, "See ya later, Yvonne. I'll be there by six. Do you need me to bring anything from the store?"
"No it's alright. I'll call you if I need anything. Go do your music thing," she said with a playful glare.
I started walking, "Be careful kid!" Mr. Caldwell or Jasper yelled.
I turned around and rolled my eyes playfully, "When am I not?" I said with sarcastically.
"Ah you know what?" he said, "You should be more careful on where you leave things like you know...this." he put my Julliard scholarship folder in the air.
I walked back in. "I was going to tell you during dinner," I said with a smirk.
"I'm so excited! I'll visit all the time! I have some money put aside for you! I can try-"
"Open the folder Jas'"
I smirked and nodded towards it. "EVERYONE GET IN HERE!" Mrs. Clairmont yelled.
The nurses and all the office crew filed in. Jasper began, "Dear Mrs. Olive Catalina Kelsey, we would like to congratulate you on your acceptance into Julliard University. Your level of music capability excels the any student that we've ever seen. We would like" Jasper paused and gawked, "Oh my lord. We would like to offer you... A FULL SCHOLARSHIP! We would proudly take you. You are probably getting many more offers due to your excellence. Your abilities are promising. We would be enlightened if you'd join us. Sincerely, Julliard University."
Cheers and applause echoed through the office. The guys I'd saw earlier had pride vibrating off of them even the scary ones. The woman was smiling her face off. Jasper and Yvonne were running towards me and embraced me into a bear hug. The father was looking straight at me with a look I couldn't quite put a point on. It confused me. I could always read people, it was a hobby or more of a skill I'd inherited from my biological family.
The office soon cleared up and I was talking to Jasper and Yvonne (Mr. & Mrs. Caldwell if it wasn't clear). The family walked towards us. The woman spoke up, "Guess that cockiness really does pay off."
"What instrument do you play?" The father I couldn't figure out said.
"Piano, Guitar, Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Drums, Trumpet, Violin, Cello, Base, Viola, Trombone, and I'm learning the French horn."
They all looked shocked and smiled. "That's exceptional." one of the older boys I hadn't met put in.
"Thank you, what are your names? Are you new here?"
"I'm Giovanni, but call me Gio. Nice to meet you Olive."
"I'm Anthony. We're here for business reasons. I'm impressed with your work."
"Damien. Piacere di rivederti neonata. (Nice to see you again babygirl)" I could tell this one was closed off.
"Nice to me you," I said with a nod. I didn't question what he was talking about. I spoke Italian but didn't want to say anything yet.
The father came up to me and smiled with only one thing I could see, relief. "Non hai idea di quanto tempo ti abbiamo cercato. Ti abbiamo trovato. Non ti perderemo di nuovo, figlia mia. La mia principessa. (You have no idea how long we have looked for you. We have found you. We're not going to lose you again, my daughter. My princess.)
He is my father. This is my family. The people who left me. The people who let me live in hell for my first 14 years.
I left my face blank and played clueless. "Nice to meet you."
"I've got to get going. Maybe I'll run into you soon."
"Si. We'll see you later Olive," the woman possibly my mother smiled.
Damien POV:
She walked out the door and out of the school. That's my neonata. My little sister. I want to get close to her but I don't want to get hurt again. I can't change now. It's my fault that she was taken. She should never forgive me for that. Hell, not even I've forgiven myself for that.
I won't be cold to her. I'll just distance myself from her. I don't want her to hate me. I need her to. It's too painful to hear what she would say once she knew I couldn't save her. I don't want her to tell me just how much I failed as an older brother. I broke my promise when she was born. I'm going to protect her with my life. I will not fail you again neonata. Never again.
