It was already dawn by the time Esau left the warehouse. He had spent the whole night outside. Thankfully, sleeping and eating were not necessities for him. He could go months without having to feed or rest his head and still remain healthy.
Walking back into his room, he peeled off his clothes and headed into the bathroom. After a hot bath, he strutted out of the bathroom in a white towel. His dark ripped muscles flexed at every movement he made. In few minutes, he was already clothed in a black plain T-shirt and a black jean. Carrying his bags, he headed out of the room.
He knocked gently on the door opposite his and called out.
"Brenna. It's time".
Brenna strolled out of her room with her loads, she had obviously been ready a long time ago. She was dressed in a black slim jacket and a black leather pant. Esau stared at her for a while before grinning in approval.
"Oh get out of the way", she growled and stormed off to the reception. With the grin still fully formed on his face, Esau followed right behind her.
They got to the counter to meet the same receptionist that had 'welcomed' them yesterday. He had his legs crossed and a book to his face as he sipped coffee from a mug. He nonchalantly glanced at the approaching duo before burying his head back into his book.
"Morning", Esau greeted as he tossed his key on the counter. Brenna tossed hers too but didn't say anything.
Silence followed as the receptionist continued to read his book and ignore them. Esau glanced at Brenna with pleading eyes. He could not take it anymore. Honestly, she had also been vexed by the receptionist lack of hospitality and provoking indifference but she shook her head slowly at him.
"I'll take care of this.", a malicious smile formed on her face.
She gently dropped her bags on the floor and handed the wrapped item behind her to Esau. The receptionist noticed her and suspiciously stole glances at her. Brenna caught one of his gazes and winked at him. He felt chills crawl down his spine and he could not help but get nervous. He watched as she closed her eyes and slowly whispered something. Although it was a whisper, he had heard her words.
"Spirits call", her voice trailed off.
The receptionist's eyes widened in shock as the reception started to get filled up with translucent people. They all had pale faces and their dead eyes stared into empty space like they were devoid of any thought. They were all moving around randomly, but at a very slow pace. He broke into cold sweat and his legs began to shiver, he could feel his heart quicken as a sudden fear overcame him. He continued to beg his body to move but it wouldn't. The spirits, like they were of one mind, suddenly stopped. Time froze and the temperature in the room seemed to drop. The poor receptionist swallowed his spit as his blood began to go cold. As quick as a snap, the ghosts uniformly turned their heads and their eyes turned completely white. Such sudden action was all it took, his mouth opened and only a silent gasp came out. His eyes rolled to the back of his head as he fell off the chair he was seating on and fainted.
Brenna snapped her fingers and the hall returned to normal. The spirits were gone like they had never been there. She nodded satisfyingly and collected her loads.
Esau burst into laughter as he watched the unconscious receptionist on the floor. He walked up to him and picked the mug the receptionist had been drinking from. Whistling, he poured the liquid in it on the man's pants before heading back to Brenna.
"You are one petty bastard", Brenna sighed but couldn't stop the smile that formed on her face.
"He started it", Esau shrugged.
They both walked out of the building leaving an unconscious man on the floor. Esau stopped a cab and following his system's map, chose his next destination. It took them less than twenty minutes to get to their destination. Esau had used the time to summarize to Brenna what Roberto had told him.
The cab pulled up in front of a small estate. In front, several armed soldiers patrolled. They were clothed in leather khaki, silver plates garbed their knees and elbows. On their heads rested tinted glass helmets and in their hands, powerful looking advanced rifles
"Government's property. Please turn back", One of the heavily armed soldiers walked up to the cab.
"Well, I didn't expect to meet the special force here. Seems like what I'm about to steal is quite precious to the Government.", Esau rubbed his chin as he spoke to himself.
"Sorry sir. It was probably an accident.",the cab driver apologized before turning the cab and zooming off. Esau and Bella didn't protest. They both knew there was nothing else he could have done.
With that amount of soldiers just outside the estate, who knew how many were stationed inside.
Honestly, Esau wouldn't mind breaking in and soloing them all but he knew it was a stupid idea. The reason being that, his map was not completely perfect. It only led him to the estate, Esau had to work to find the item beyond that. Moreover, while he was busy going wild, someone could easily escape with the artifact.
"We need a plan.", Esau spoke quietly but Brenna heard quite clearly.
"That's unlike you", she raised an eyebrow.
Esau clicked his tongue as he made the cab stop. Moving their stuff out, they walked to the side of the street. They were roughly two kilometers away from the estate but they were stuck in the middle of the road with their baggage.
"Now what?", Brenna asked.
Esau looked around, the street was empty. It looked like this was not a route usually used by people. The route led to and ended at that estate. At the side of the roads, tall trees spanned and had easily formed a forest. Esau signaled for Brenna to come with him. He turned and headed into the forest. Using his wind and telekinetic abilities, he was able to clear a path in the thick shrub.
After ensuring they were deep enough in the forest and he could not see the road anymore, he checked his system's map and nodded.
"The estate is this way", he said as he turned to his left.
"We are going back now? We still don't have a plan", Brenna furrowed her eyebrows.
"We need to at least get a good look at the estate. Don't you think?", he shrugged as he continued to clear them a path.
Brenna nodded and silently walked behind him. They went on for a while until Esau felt they were close enough. Not wasting anytime, he activated one of his abilities. Sensor. His pupils glowed green and his sight suddenly changed. The forest became a shade of grey and he could sense a radius of roughly two miles. His sensor ability helped him in seeing heat energies as colors. Humans gave a deep shade of red and animals gave blue.
Hues of purple were randomly spread around but apart from the red behind him which belonged to Brenna, few meters to his left, several shades of red gathered. They easily numbered over two hundred.
"Oh well, this is not going to be easy.",Esau rubbed his chin.
